Multiplayer works via proton. Since Ubisoft doesn't sell that game on Steam anymore, you have to add the game as a Non-Steam game and select the latest proton or proton experimental.
Multiplayer does not work with any wine version available in Lutris since ~4 months (Error LR05) or with the LUTRIS_ENABLE_PROTON=1
var and proton in Lutris.
Adding it as a non-steam game works reliably.
Advanced VR gameplay mechanics playable on linux via proton
970 is a bit underpowered for the game. setting shadows to low and turning off antialiasing results in a useable performance
Sometimes the game does not render in the HMD. Restarting SteamVR and the game fixes the issue.
Not playable (VR and flat version)
Game crashes or is stuck on the first loading screen and sometimes stops rendering in the HMD.
replaced the game files with version 1002 (search for it online)
A lot of fun! But there is no rice!
At first the game crashed on me a lot, but I don't think it's an issue with Proton or the game. I think it's a general issue with Nvidias driver. With 470-beta adding:
{
"steamvr" : {
"enableLinuxVulkanAsync" : false
}
}
to ~/.steam/steam/config/steamvr.vrsettings
resolves the issue.
Videos don't play and watching them is required to continue
The game works out of the box.
All issues have nothing to do with proton and should be identical on Windows.
- The multiplayer has no players even with cross-play, but I assume it would work if enough players would be online to play.
- Ubisoft never touched this game again after release ...
- In-game tutorial graphics are misleading for the index controllers.
- Annoying full screen messages that try to force you into a specific play style (head tilting) can not be turned off.
The game runs on very high settings with ~60 fps. No micro stuttering or audio lag.
The Game does start, but does not continue beyond the headphone recommendation. I have not tested any tweaks.
970 is a bit too slow. minor stuttering in some scenes.
RADV_DEBUG=nodcc,nohiz %command%
This is a known bug on the AMD RX 7900 XTX under proton. Using the launch options RADV_DEBUG=nodcc,nohiz %command%
resolved this issue.
Works fine out of the box if you are not on an RDNA 3 GPU (AMD 7000 series).
Runs perfectly out of the box
When asked I selected the "OpenXR (recommended)" option instead of the "Steam VR" mode and it worked perfectly under proton experimental with the Valve Index. I haven't tried the Steam VR mode.
The game runs fine, but every info panel is transparent with no content visible. I did not try any tweaks.
went from working out of the box with perfect performance to crashing without the main menu with the latest update
I would consider the teleportation bug game breaking.
Teleportation further a long in the map -> missing notes
You need the Windows version under proton to experience the VR DLC and save files that are far enough in the main story (Windows and Linux save files are not compatible)
Short, but fun experience. It's free so nothing to complain.
970 is a bit too slow, but still a playable/enjoyable experience.
The tutorial crashes the game. You can skip the tutorial since the game mechanics are very easy to understand during the first match.
