Works almost perfectly out of the box, no tweaks needed. However, certain pre-rendered videos that appears during the campaign aren't played. Otherwise, over 200 hours and not even a crash.
3.7-6 doesn't work, but update to the 3.16 version and it works perfectly barring the skipped cutscene issue.
No additional notes, runs fine out of the box.
The game executable starts, but loads into a black screen with no sound. After a few seconds the app crashes without an error message.
The game has a ton of promise, and fans of the series will love it... eventually.
Occasional graphical glitches relative to the quality of my hardware.
Lagging and intermittent short freezes.
About once every half hour to hour the game will freeze and not recover, needing a hard kill in the process hacker. While trying to kill the program it also seems to be using heavily the CPU such that it takes minutes to kill the program.
Do yourself a favor and download the Imperial Civil War mod. I've racked a lot of time on that since moving to Ubuntu, as this game works flawlessly for me.
Runs fine out of the box, but I also updated the textures and meshes with the links already provided.
As previously reported - menu pops, but game process loads to a black screen.
Sound is absolutely a mess because of the choppiness. Without sound, why bother playing the game?
Sound is incredibly choppy and de-synced from the start menu on.
1.7 Broke Linux Play
1.7 update broke play on Ubuntu. Previously, was able to play (native) and aside from occasional lag spikes / FPS drops, the game worked ok.
Post SoI and 1.7, native drops to 3 or less FPS within the first game week and crashes on first autosave; Proton Experimental/GE and other versions of Proton result in a crash to desktop before a country can even be selected in the New Game menu.
TL;DR - Latest version not working presently.
