Game has better performance on Linux compared to Windows.
Certain graphics and effects do not appear in fullscreen. It occurs when you start the game in fullscreen or after focusing on another window/application and back to the game in fullscreen mode.
- This can be solved by switching to windowed mode and switching back to fullscreen.
Movies will not play at all, except the Xtreme Legends opening.
Saves are not saved onto the Steam Cloud, you must copy the KoeiTecmo Folder to the Documents folder in the game's prefix. (If you wish to transfer your save from another device)
On Windows 10, with AMD Adrenalin Edition 24.1.1, the game would run with an inconsistent framerate on max settings (30-50 FPS), requiring the use of the game's frameskip setting to lock the FPS to 30 since the game's speed is based on the FPS. Given my hardware, this game should not run with these low framerates.
On Linux, the game runs with a consistent 60 FPS on max settings. Despite the minor graphical inconveniences, the game runs and plays better than on Windows.

Proton GE 6.1 will play audio/cutscenes just fine. However, after a while audio during non-pre-rendered/real time cutscenes may fall out of sync. This is actually a bug that existed since the game's original Windows port. No audio issues playing cutscenes from the game's gallery mode.
Switching between different proton versions may cause the game to be not bootable anymore. Only fixed this via reinstalling SteamOS
Game download defaults to English despite choosing other languages (a SteamOS issue); changing languages after installing will require downloading more files.
The cinematics have audio missing (enable subtitels if you want to know whats going on), luckily there aren't many cinematic cutscenes.
Run with Proton-GE or the mute cinematics will be skipped other than that I'd say it is playable.
Run flawlessly on my hardware with a consistent 60 fps with maximum settings and using AMD FSR technology makes this old game better

Apperently it didn't sync to steam cloud, so i have to manually backup it and restore it to the game prefix
If you play using proton experimental and/or proton 7.2-GE-2 version, the movie (not the in-game cutscene) on the game won't run properly
Proton-6.10-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
I launch this using Proton GE
On my previous entries, i launch the game using Proton Experimental and the movie won't play. But this time i use Proton GE fork and it play flawlessly, my controller still recognize, and i didn't experience performance degradation
Work out-of-box. I even experience better performance. In windows i get 30-40 fps, in here i easily stable on 60 fps
Movie not playing, perhaps Media Foundation bugs
Controller work out of the box too with already configured keybindings, On Windows, i have to configure it manually.
It installs and starts up. However when you go to controller configuration it will hang or rather will not register any input.
My advice is that before resolving it, don't switch to fullscreen since it is easier to close the window then kill from console.
To resolve this I when into game settings in steam aka right click on the game and from there selected controller. I enabled steam input. Restarted steam. Then start game. I could now modify the controller settings.
Unfortunately I still cannot get my xbox controller to work.
Played a little. Cutscenes play but gameplay is not fun with keyboard and I think it does not register inputs properly.

Works almost perfectly out of the box, no tweaks needed. However, certain pre-rendered videos that appears during the campaign aren't played. Otherwise, over 200 hours and not even a crash.
controller and movies do not work. when the button mapping menu is opened the game freezes like the previous entries Dynasty warriors 8 xtreme edition complete edition and dynasty warriors 8 empires
