Tabbing out of the game or opening Steam overlay would freeze the game occasionally.
When launching the game it popped-up a window for me
"Age of Empires III requires at least a 64 MB video card. This computer appears to have a 0 MB video card. If you wish to upgrade your computer, please contact your computer manufacturer for any necessary assistance."
but you can skip this by just "launching forcefully" the game, I think the game just does not regonize newer hardware..
Not connecting to online games
Idk if I chose a wrong day testing it out but I got once inside a lobby and then I saw text on the bottom left corner saying that I left the game.. I was still inside the lobby.. but nothing moved so I left the game manually. After this I tried to go to online list but it never let me in. It was complaining about internet issues, so either their servers are done or something else is bothering..
Input lag makes it very close to unplayable and not enjoyable
Input was laggy enough that it was noticeable and affected gameplay
Unable to install
Unable to install the game, because "error accessing files"
gamemoderun %command% WINEDLLOVERRIDES="d3dcompiler_47=n;dxgi=n,b" %command% -res=1920x1080f -useallavailablecores -novid -notexturestreaming
Input lag fixed with previous report: n GameUserSettings.ini I changed:
FullScreen=True
FullscreenMode=0
LastConfirmedFullscreenMode=0
bUseVSync=False
.
in Engine.ini I added:
[/Script/Engine.InputSettings]
bEnableMouseSmoothing=False
bDisableMouseAcceleration=True
[/script/engine.engine]
bSmoothFrameRate=false
MinSmoothedFrameRate=120
MaxSmoothedFrameRate=120
bUseVSync=false
.
Added a launch parameter:
-res=1920x1080f
Input latency before doing some tricks
Works like native
Need to tune on some game settings as it requires a lot from your computer. For me it lagged like crazy
Works like a charm
Worked with my Xbox controller too, just plugged in and it was ready to go!
gamemoderun DXVK_ASYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
The game has unstability but it comes from the game itself, even on Windows which game is native to has performance issues
gamemoderun DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command%
Slight stuttering and lagging behind, but not constantly
The game crashes if you don't accept EULA, and so far you need proton7.0-6 to see and accept the EULA. After accepting EULA you can switch the proton
gamemoderun WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 %command%
Background video on main menu does not work/play/show
Works well if you play on NON-EAC server, you can't join servers with EAC enabled.
Works well!
Desync/Lag when playing with bigger mods
Moving in the game was okey but when fight broke out, the game started to lag majorly
When you start up the game, it will probs crash once or twice..
There is little "bug" when installing the game, firstly because EA loves us so much they make us download Origin.. Well it's fine but when starting up the game it might crash once or twice. I recommend skipping Vulkan Shaders for this.
Works well out of box
Could be that my system is missing some audio drivers too..
%command% -skipintro -useallavailablecores
The game was lagging with low fps
Game kept crashing everytime I tried joining multiplayer lobby
Works well out of box, with some minor bugs in game but it is still early access
Did not work for me, for some reason did not initialize
gamemoderun %command%
Could not find any reason why the game would not be native to linux, works well out of the box and if you want to tinker little for the performance
