Ambient occlusion causes horizontal lines. Turning that setting off fixes the problem.
Fully playable, but has a few annoying quirks that might put some players off.
There is a a bit of crackling most of the time, but it's not very loud. Unless you're very sensitive to such things, it should be OK to play with.
Game shows gamepad button hints if gamepad is connected, even though the only inputs the game have received is from keyboard and mouse. No obvious way to override this within the game's settings. I solved the problem by unplugging the gamepad.
No game-breaking bugs, but the huge amount of missing audio may ruin the intended experience.
After comparing notes with windows and console players, I have notices that almost all in-world music is missing. Clubs and bars are missing their music, and radios placed around the city do not make any sound. That includes radios in vehicles. The gunfire effects and speech from NPCs also disappear seemingly randomly.
The audio crackling from my previous report was fully solved with the "PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 %command%" launch option.
Windowed fullscreen mode does not allow me to escape fullscreen, but the game's real fullscreen mode does.
Game incorrectly shows gamepad hints when using keyboard and mouse. Connected gamepads must be disconnected to fix the problem.
There is intermittent stuttering but otherwise at 60+ fps.
Flickering lights orbs, game doesn't handle alt-tabbing if running fullscreen. Otherwise fine.
No pip-boy radio, even if the same radio channels played as normal on radios placed around the game world.
Game shows initial splash screen, but then gives a "Could not reset the Direct3D device.
Some minor frame pacing issues.
Game doesn't go back to its proper size when changing from fullscreen back to windowed.
6.8-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Glorious Eggroll 6.8-GE-2
Minor audio crackling or skipping. Nothing too bad.
Does not always start on correct screen.
Most of the issues seem to be with the launch process, not the actual game. It often takes many tries to get to the Origin launcher, and from there to the actual game. Once the game is actually running, it is mostly fine.
It's hard to recommend this title when you often end up fiddling with settings for 10 minutes to get Origin to behave when all you really want to do is just play the game.
Game doesn't always start in fullscreen, and requires you to fiddle a bit to make it happen.
Game rapidly switches between keyboard button hints and gamepad button hints, instead of settling for one of the two.
Atlus and P-studio logos show, but crashes immediately after that.
I've tried a lot of different proton versions, including 5.9 GE-8, as well as all the protontricks tricks I've seen listed on this page, but I just can't get it working. GE-8 is the only version that's actually gotten as far as the Atlus logo, so I guess that is an improvement.
Game crashes when going from character creation and into actual gameplay. Need to tweak ini file to start in windowed mode to get the game started at all, and cannot switch to fullscreen at any point without the game crashing. Also needed to disable hardware mouse in ini file to be able to click anything in the game.
Needed to disable Steam overlay to get past character creation. Framebuffer effects completely garble the graphics, but the game looks and plays fine if you turn that option off in the in-game settings.
Mouse cursor isn't always hidden when using mouse to move camera. Sometimes escapes the game screen (in multi monitor setups) and causes me to switch to another game. It's a very minor issue, considering gamepads are the optimal input device for this game.
When I first tried the game, I would get placeholder videos instead of steams re-encoded videos. This issue has now been resolved, and I can play the game as intended.
Not a pleasant experience as long as the input issues persist.
Rapidly spinning camera after menu selections on fields and during battle when using gamepad. Clicking anywhere with any mouse button makes it return to normal, but the problem reappears whenever you go into the menu again.
Runs perfect right out of the box. No tinkering with any settings required. Used the default Proton version currently available in the Steam client.
Needed to grab libmpg123-0:i386 to be able to load the game. Shadows are consistently flickering, and the game can't be minimized. Disabling shadows makes the flickering go away.
Performance appears to be a bit lower than what a Windows user can expect given my hardware, still, framerates rarely dip below 50 with a mix of very high and ultra settings, and is mostly at 60+.
Approximately 3 out of 4 times, it will fail to launch, getting stuck at a black screen instead of showing the dev logos etc. I've yet to experience stability issues after the game has started properly.
Need to install Glorious Eggroll proton 5.9-GE-8 to get the game working.
Game runs fine, but there are massive slowdowns whenever you move your mouse. Although I typically get over 100 fps in all areas, touching the mouse drops this to less than 5 fps. Because of this, the game is only playable if you use a control scheme that does not include a mouse.
Only crackles a little bit here and there.
Occasional microstuttering.
Opening cutscene hanged at black screen the first time, but worked the second.
Game does not have a built in vsync option, which may cause a good amount of tearing. Graphics are stretched on non 16:9 resolutions, with no options to instead add black bars. The game only supports a small number of pre-set resolutions. I could only select between 1280x720 and 1920x1080 on my system.
Game loads up with no apparent problems. Displays 3D models on character selection, but won't let me proceed further than that.
The game stops with a black screen and background music/effects playing. It does not lock up, and closes properly with an alt+f4.
The demo gets to gameplay, but players often can't reach the end of the demo due to bugs making it hang or stop.
Using a BT Xbox One controller, input would sometimes get "stuck". For example, the game character would occasionally keep moving for several seconds after I let go of the stick. It is unknown whether this was a hardware issue, but I've not noticed this in other games I've played with this controller.
At certain points, the game will not return after a screen fade to black, but the game is not hard-locked and will shut down if asked nicely.
The demo does not get to gameplay with all character selections. Starting with Rietz and Duran works, but starting as Angela does not.
