This game now works again for me using DOSBox. However I recommend installing "Commander Genius", which is much more modern. Launch it through steam, and then you can use a controller if you prefer. My framerates are much faster and the experience is much more smooth using "Commander Genius".
Works great with Proton-GE. Proton on its own could not load EAC, so it kicked me out of the game.
Was following the discussion here, and learned it works in Steam now, so decided to give it a try: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/282110/eac-on-steam-deck-proton-linux/p22
I get a pop-up error: "The following components are required to run this program - Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime".
Default Proton would launch the game but not get past the cut-scene, and then into to the main menu. I had to use Proton-GE instead, which worked flawlessly.
Took forever to load while in game, and then crashed after 50% was loaded.
This applies to anyone using the amazon games version (from nile). I did not get any graphics when I launched, so I followed this reddit thread, https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/w0ae12/metal_slug_2_from_amazon_games_black_screen/, which is to launch dxsetup.exe, let that finish, and then change it back to mslug2.exe, then it works perfectly.
This only applies to the amazon games version installation with nile (https://github.com/imLinguin/nile).
The demo is a great experience and I encourage people to try it.
stuttering
I think it's a shader caching problem. I run Doom Eternal flawlessly on this machine, however here there was minor stuttering at times.
Only if they don't touch the default control settings. However, if they need to change the mouse settings they won't be able to play it.
Inverting Y axis also inverted X axis, I could not invert them independently - the game was unplayable
If I went to the multiplayer screen, I could not get back to the main menu nor exit the game. I had to return to my desktop and close the game from the outside.
The game crashed after first play. I went back in and my progress was saved, however when I exit, it "crashes".
Low framerate but still playable.
Framerate won't exceed 30 fps.
It's playable, even with a controller if launching Lutris within Steam.
Quick report to share that it works. Will update my report and test further later.
Shader caching
Updating my report, works perfectly in single player (offline) and multiplayer online.
Tried it very quickly, did the quick intro/tutorial. Jumped into an online game, though I was alone, played for total 10 mins. No need for protontricks here to play alone at least, not sure about more people. Might try later and update my submission.
Menu doesn't load. I managed to get a Steam key so the native version works perfectly, however on proton, the game does not work for me.
This is in case you got the game from EGS and are launching through proton. I changed to Proton-GE, older versions of Proton, etc
For the free version from "Epic Games Store", the Proton did not work (neither did Proton-GE). Native version is a must at this time.
It asked for me to center my settings requesting input from the controller, however I could never get past that screen.
The game will *not* launch. "Native" crashes my linux OS... proton at least just doesn't start the game.
As per other users' reports, I switch to Proton 5.13-6 and it works perfectly.
`Microsoft Gaming Services` fails to install, can't access main menu. This is for the closed beta test.
I'm not even sure if Anti-Cheat is an issue, since Microsoft Gaming Services
failed to install.
Tried default Proton, didn't work. Tried Proton Experimental (as of the time of this writing), didn't work. Proton GE works perfectly.
Apparently GE-Proton7-38 works as well, but I just got the latest one. Works perfectly out of the box. Really appreciate the devs getting AC to play nice with Linux.
My launch options are for Nvidia users who want DLSS to show up in the graphics settings page. Without this, only FSR shows up.
PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 %command%
Proton-GE is a must for this.
After hotfix 37 (including hotfix 38) the game is no longer stable and freezes randomly.
The game runs fine on my Windows partition, so it's not my hardware.
Revised my report. It works now if I keep basic nvidia gfx settings (no DLSS, no RT, etc). If I turn those on, the game will crash once I load into mourningstar.
Yes. I've added the commands to enable DLSS for my graphics card, since it doesn't show up for me. Also disable Steam Overlay(prevent crsh
PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 DXVK_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 %command%
At the time of this writing, you need to disable steam overlay to avoid crashes.
-eac-untrusted
Followed advice in Dennis' report: -Deleted the 552500 folder in ~/steamlibrary/steamapps/compatdata. -Removed the MicrosoftEdgeWebview.exe in the VT2 launcher folder. -Set the version to temporary_launcher_workaround. -Added the launch option: -eac-untrusted.
Slight stuttering.
Even with all of the above, I had to watch a YouTube video to get it all started, since all I had at first was a black screen.
When launching, if the beta option is enabled, there will be 3 options: 1-Play Warhammer: Vermintide 2 2-Bypass launcher 3-Bypass launcher (dx12)
I first started with option (1) above, and this allowed me to select "modded realm". Then nothing happened after that.
Then I had to close the game in steam, relaunch it, then select option (3) above. This got me further into the game, but the game crashed once I tried to play (probably took me to official servers). Then I launched the game again with option (1) above, selected modded realm, and then I could get into the game, and start a private match with bots only (which is what I wanted). I was able to play without issues after that.
PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 DXVK_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 %command%
Works perfectly.
