SteamPlay's default Proton on this game is very old, so select the newer Proton manually before playing the game. That made the game stop stuttering and run perfectly on my machine. It even seems smoother than Windows.
Doesn't load any level
Every loading inside the game takes a long time, even the initial loading before the menu. But the menu at least ran pretty well.
Pretty good game, if you play with mouse/keyboard you'll have a great experience 10+ hour fun for very cheap
Could not play with the DualSense controller, turning the camera with the joysticks makes the game freeze bizarrely. Mouse and keyboard is smooth as hell, feels just like playing on Windows (coming from someone who finished this game and got all the achievements).
Runs great, although the cutscenes have a small green bar on the bottom that is completely forgettable and do not degrade the experience.
It actually runs better on Linux, because sometimes on Windows there were problems with the audio and with the asset loading (sounds and sprites). On Linux, those are not a problem and my game is always smooth and loads fast and has audio everytime I open the game. A very nice experience overall.
It may not be as smooth as I wanted it to be, but it is definitely playable without any tinkering required.
It's just not as smooth as on Windows for me, unfortunately.
Runs pretty well without any tinkering required at all. I ran the game at max settings at 1440p with really smooth FPS.
Dualsense Haptic Feedback does not work on Linux, but works on Windows.
I didn't even change to DX11 as many recommended, and the game has less stutters on DX12 on Linux than on Windows. However the Dualsense Haptic Feedback still doesn't work (well, it doesn't work with any game so that's not a problem specific from this one). Other than this, it is pretty much perfect. Whoever's saying that DX12 causes problems on Linux probably didn't play the game on Windows, because it has the exact same stutters. The game is just not well optimized for DX12.
I can't believe how smooth this game is on Linux
I beat the game on Windows a few years back, and the experience was BAD. I had to make so many adjustments for the game to run properly, but on Linux I can't stress enough how painless it was to just open the game and run it so smoothly, no FPS drops, nothing. Just a flawless experience.
You'll get a somewhat worse performance than on Windows, but it's still lots of fun and online works perfectly.
Should be getting 45-60 fps, but is instead getting 30-45. Still playable, and had lots of fun playing Online with my friends.
It runs perfectly out of the box, if you're on AMD you might want to upgrade to Mesa 24 in order to be able to run the game with ray tracing
Due to this game having ray tracing, Mesa version 23 leads to performance drops on scenes such as the Kiri Shopping. Upgrading to Mesa 24 fixed this, as it has a much better ray tracing performance. Now I'm running the game at a locked 60 fps even in those scenes.
SMAA seems to not be working completely, making it a tiny little bit more aliased than on Windows. But it's barely noticeable.
If you use the default Proton, it will crash when trying to load/save the game. Using Proton GE (which has the latest fixes already) does the job. No need to patch anything.
This game is perfect on Linux, I have played it for good without any problems whatsoever.
It had a small problem when it launched because of a missing Wine API call, but Valve fixed it really quickly and the game has been perfectly playable since then. It is actually performing better on Linux for me, as it does not drop FPS when I quickly turn around the camera in Shibuya, something that happened on Windows for me. The DualSense controller also detects and shows the PlayStation glyphs as expected.
Great game that runs perfectly on Linux! I'm impressed with how smooth it is considering that the game just came out.
I just couldn't enable ray tracing, but I also didn't try to tinker with it. Otherwise I maxed out everything else and the game is running perfectly, no hiccups or stutters! I'm playing on Fedora 37.
