Steam Cloud is not supported, which is pretty bad if you want to play on both Deck and desktop
Default settings are too high, need to lower to medium/medium-low
Need to manually set to fullscreen everytime, but otherwise runs perfectly
Alt-tabbing sometimes causes a graphical artifact to permanently appear on screen.
Games does not start on fullscreen, needs to go to the options and cycle to windowed, then back to fullscreen.
Performance issues in the overworld means you'll need a beefy PC while playing at lower resolutions.
Big FPS drops in the overworld, from 55-60 in Windows to 28-33 (when one of the giant trees is in view, otherwise it's fine) in Linux. FPS in enclosed dungeons is the same at 55-60.
There are stutters, but these are also on Windows.
As of the latest patch, online works with proton-experimental. In default proton-7.0, it will fail to connect but allow you to play offline without any tweaks.
Make sure you are on the latest mesa drivers, as they gave me an additional 5 fps.
The low FPS ruins it. Perhaps a future version of proton will work better
FPS is extremely low, to the point it is unplayable, regardless of graphic settings.
The Media Foundation Fix is necessary to start the game (https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install). The game was working fine on proton 4.11-3, but it freezes on startup with 4.11-4 so I had to revert back to using 4.2-9.
Comparing with Windows, the framerate was the same.
Game installs and runs without any problem, and performance is as good as on Windows.
Game has significant stuttering when launching the game for the first time ever, but disappears after a while, and never comes back even in subsequent sessions.
Disable Fsync as it causes stuttering.
Someone else might figure out a way to fix the missing textures, but as it stands, ihe game is unplayable on Linux.
The game is missing practically all textures. There are only things like floating hair or water effects. The game is a big grey void
The resolution must be set in SteamLibrary/steamapps/compatdata/356190/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Local Settings/Application Data/WB Games/Shadow of War/ otherwise the game renders at a lower res, although this issue doesn't seem to affect everyone.
On proton 4.11-2, the game had recurring freezes, some of them requiring to kill the process. Using proton 3.16-9 eliminated them.
I've been playing 5+ hours with no issues now and flawless performance compared to Windows.
CTD after an hour in, can't progress past the prologue
Game runs perfectly during the prologue (~ 1h) but crashes once you reach the open world portion and I'm unable to continue forward. Trying to load a save file at a later moment in the game produces the same crash.
6.21-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Start the game with the launch option -dx11
As is noted by others, a white screen will show when starting the game. By changing workspace and waiting for the intro logos to pass, then returning back to the game's workspace fixes the problem.
V-sync seems to cause a massive FPS drop. Otherwise, it runs great. I've maxed out graphics at 3440x1440 and the fps stays around 120.
The game now works fine with no need for tweaks.
I have had occasional frame rate drops
On release day, I couldn't play due to the intro videos displaying a backscreen. The issue seems all gone now, and everything is working as intended.
Works almost flawlessly. Awesome game
On some of the text (mainly the chapter descriptions) punctuation is replaced by boxes. It does not really affect the experience.
Works flawlessly without any tweaks
21:9 is not supported. The game hangs upon quitting.
