the loading shaders screen on steam stops at 99% and never finishes, skip it
game isnt synced between others but that seems to be the case with everyone.
aside from the shaders loading getting stuck game works perfectly fine, and at least for me im able to skip it when it starts with no issues.
2 player co op on steam deck works great, both controllers were registered and worked as expected.
great experience on steam deck, consistent 60fps even on high, with minimal battery drain.
Steam pages says its supports the dualsense, this is not true. it only supports xbox, playstation controllers work only if steam input is on and it will be registered as an xbox controller.
Runs fine minus the whole lie about supporting dualsense.
to get this game running properly, follow the steps in this post https://www.protondb.com/app/289650#-4L_9452Q9
the old version of uplay will say it is offline and refuse to launch the game. make sure to folow these steps BEFORE first running the game, otherwise youll need to reinstall and do these steps, it will not work if done after first run (probably because the old version gets installed and cant be replaced after).
Texture load in is brutally slow, this seems to be a problem on windows as well as this game is extremely buggy and unoptomized.
Overall a decent experience, once the uplay issue is fixed it plays about the same as on windows (i.e. buggy and poorly loading textures).
After the newest update game crashes after the ubi logo.
Game is now borked and will not launch properly.
slow loading textures
Only use proton 8.0.01. Other versions including experimental crash after the logo.
before launching the game, follow the steps in this post https://www.protondb.com/app/289650#-4L_9452Q9, same as a pc setup
followed the steps in the below posts.
In order to get ubisoft connect working, youll need to boot into desktop mode after installing the game, follow the steps i posted above. Then open the konsole and use this command:
nmcli connection modify 'NetworkName' 802-11-wireless.mtu 1452
replace 'network name' with your wifi or ethernet name. (Note: Make sure to excersize caution when using this command (or any command really)).
Secondary note: If you havent set an admin password youll need to using command passwd before running this command.
After running this command, hit enter and youll open a new line. The konsole will give no indication that anything has happened but it will have went through. Restart your steam deck, start the game, and ubisoft connect should start and run normally. You will need to log in each time you want to play (unless you run the game in offline mode). However you will need to log in the first time (gotta love always online DRM, thanks Ubisoft).
Ubisoft LOVES making this process way more difficult then it needed to be. I'm sure if this was the epic games deck this wouldn't require so much tinkering.
Was even able to move saves from a different windows computer to my main pc. game runs basically flawlessly.
Forced game to fullscreen, set refresh rate and resolution manually, then had to restart the game for the settings to take effect. everything worked fine after.
game started in windowed mode and when set to fullscreen the screen would tear and jitter, options became impossible to click. after setting to fullscreen and setting resolution and refresh rate i restarted the game and there were no screen issues after.
-oldgameui
Native version is completely broken, and proton version wont launch without the -oldgameui launch option
Only use the proton version, and -oldgameui is necesarry, or the game will crash upon as soon as its loaded in to the main menu
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="d3d11.dll=n,b" %command% -nostartupmovies -nosplash -notexturestreaming
Launch options are for running mods (which all work) and skipping the annoying intros + improving performance.
Started windowed in 720p. scrolling through the resolution options takes forever as the scroll speed is incredibly slow
Certain creatures couldnt intiate movement
Works fine with some lag
Avoid, not sure playing on windows would fix any of the issues i faced.
--launcher-skip --intro-skip --skipStartScreen
Runs well, no issues to report that dont also exist on windows. it just works.
Some building elements regenerated even after the buildings were destroyed
Works fine, some minor stutters if theres a lot on screen but that seems to be common with this game. still perfectly playable with >100 fps consistently.
Weird artifiacts in the distance sometimes
Game will occasionally crash on start, or randomly in game.
Works fine. will sometimes just crash on multiplayer screen and not let you join. issue exists on windows as well.
Proton is necesarry to get the game to launch, native version crashes before its even finished launching.
Linux version wont launch
DXVK_FRAME_RATE=60 %command%
Also using the far cry 2 realism redux+ mod. highly recommend for qol changes.
steam overlay causes crashes, disable it.
Works pretty well on high settings from the small testing I've done. Ubi connect is annoying forcing log ins on every launch but thats an issue on windows as well.
gamescope -w 2560 -h 1440 -r 144 -f -e --force-grab-cursor -- %command%
mouse not captured by window, force grab cursor necesarry. plasma 6 issue. if you arent on plasma 6 this shouldnt be a problem.
If you are on plasma 6 youll need gamescope to get this game to capture the mouse. otherwise works fine.
locked to 40hz
text can be small and low quality
Runs well on steam deck
gamescope -w 2560 -h 1440 -r 144 -f %command% --use-d3d11
mouse occasionally dissappears from the screen or fails to lock to game window. clicking anywhere in game window fixes the issue.
Despite the inclusion of insanely invasive and unecesarry anticheat, the game works fairly well, getting a solid 100-120 fps on high settings. launch option with d3d11 is NECESARRY if you have a 7900 xt and xtx or else it will crash, havent tried without said option. Also used gamescope to prevent windowing issues.
%command% --use-d3d11
fullscreen = black screen, borderless window = constant one pixel high white border around the screen. no fix currently
im updating my report because it seems that gamescope no longer works with this game, it will not lock the mouse to the screen and as a result looking around is impossible as your locked to a 30 degree view at all times. as a result ive had to stop using gamescope and start using regular borderless windowed, which leads to the constant white bar around the screen. Unsure if this issue is with gamescope or with helldivers 2, I'm mostly posting this here to see if anyone else can find a fix for it, as I appear to be the only person expierencing this issue.
gamescope -w 2560 -h 1440 -r 144 -f --force-grab-cursor -- %command% --use-d3d11
need gamescope to escape constant white bar
using --force-grab-cursor is necsarry to get gamescope to get the cursor and actually be able to look around.
game gets stuck on black screen after selecting language.
gamescope -w 2560 -h 1440 -r 144 -f -e --force-grab-cursor -- mangohud %command% --use-d3d11
gamescope -w 2560 -h 1440 -r 144 -f -e --force-grab-cursor -- %command% --use-d3d11
borderless windowed leaves a white bar around the outline of the screen. use gamescope to fix
game has occasional slowdowns.
Seems to work fine now with gamescope
-w 2560 -h 1440
Native version of the game has issues with windowing. Would start in 768 windowed stuck between my two displays, making it full screen would default it to the secondary display. fixed with proton experimental and changing windowing configurating from launch options.
If you want to play this game single player proton experimental is fine. If you want to do any coop then ge proton is necessary. Coop will not work without ge proton, all other fixes suggested did nothing to fix the issue. ge proton 27 and up seem to have fixed the coop issues. Hard recommendation for ge proton if you want to do coop or else youll get desync about 5 minutes in.
changed windowing mode to windowed fullscreen
forced fullscreen seems to break the game a bit, windowed fullscreen fixes it.
Overall pretty playable
Game gets stuttery on titan.
Works fine, sometimes players cant be added to the lobby and exiting is needed to get it to work. Seems to be OS agnostic issue.
can only play in 1080
native version only ran on second monitor
Mouse was stuck on experimental and ge8-4
this game does not deserve the gold rating it currently has.
Runs just as good as native.
The closest thing to an issue this version has is that it turned multiplayer on by default despite me not enabling it. was able to disable it and there were no further issues.
game crashes on splash screen, spam clicking fixes it
game was working fine until today, not sure if its do to a recent update or a proton issue, will report back once i figure out whats causing it
occasional frame drops
Game runs well for the most part, occasional frame drops but rare. Game does seem to be locked to 120 fps at max for some reason.
Runs fine. locked to 120 fps for some reason.
Sometimes when using the steam overlay if any input is detected on a ps5 controller it will stop being registered as a ps5 controller and start being seen as a default xbox controller.
Game works fine. Correct resolution needs to be entered on first launch after that no issues.
if alt tabbed out of the game and hit a key on the controller it would default to xbox control scheme
Game works well and even supports adaptive triggers for the ps5 controller.
Effectively unusable, will crash every 5 minutes
sad to see this is effectievely unusable with proton in its current state.
No video
game starts, sound works, but menus are unviewable, no idea why this has a platinum score
Native version is completely broken, only the proton version launches
native version needs to be fixed, but the proton version seems to work mostly fine
the proton version having limited servers and steam continually dowloading the exe is a headache
LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib32/libtcmalloc.so %command%
Steam will download the windows version with every update, requiring switching back to linux runtime in compatilbity tools
pretty awful expeiernce overall, took hours to finally get it to run, and even now steam seems to think i want the exe, which does run better but only has access to non vac servers, vac servers will cause the game to crash instantly, and steam still thinks i want the windows version so with every update i need to change compatability tools to linux runtime, then switch it off (leaving linux runtime on also causes the game to instantly crash, for reasons unknown). Overall a pretty miserable expierence, valve is definetly not sending their best for this one.
game wont start.
Tried launching through steam and the exe in the common folder, nothing happens.
In order to get the game working it MUST be installed on your main drive, using an ntfs drive will cause the game to refuse to launch.
Works very well on linux. The only real issue i encountered was a combat arena not triggering correctly (was fixed by reloading the checkpoint) and a turret that was broken (also fixed be reloading).
