Works well out of the box
I noticed there was a lack of audio starting up the game on the latest Proton build, but it started working after switching to 5.13-6.
Black screen with AoE II cursor was the furthest I got...
Tried on multiple versions of Proton and Proton GE, multiple different launch options. Every time I got a black screen with the game's cursor, crashed about 15 seconds afterwards.
Game will not launch properly without dotnet48 in its wineprefix. Using GloriousEggroll's 5.9-GE-8-ST makes launching the game a breeze.
SDL_VIDEODRIVER=windows %command% --skip-launcher
Forced SDL driver to "windows" to get it working on Sway. Launches with just audio and no window otherwise.
Able to get into multiplayer games, but not for long
While still able to launch the game with EAC enabled, I was still getting kicked from matches about 30 seconds in.
SDL_VIDEODRIVER=windows %command%
As of right now, I needed to replace the SDL2.dll that comes with DF with the latest DLL from the official SDL2 Github, and manually specify SDL_VIDEODRIVER as "windows" to get it working on Sway.
Background music/radio music was missing. Was able to fix this by installing lib32-mpg123.
To launch the game in NVSE, just rename the nvse_loader.exe to FalloutNVLauncher.exe.
Any audio issues should be fixed by installing lib32-mpg123 (If you're on Arch. Will be called something different on Debian etc.)
Managing mods you'll want to figure out on your own; I'm installing mine manually and sorting with FOMM inside the game's Wine prefix.
UE4 prerequisites fail to install. "Invalid ACL" error.
Wasn't able to launch the game whatsoever. Tried multiple workarounds to install VC2019/2015 runtimes, but was still unable to get it working. Refunded after many hours of troubleshooting.
Works phenomenally better than native with Proton 6.3, right out of the box
Works after a couple tweaks
Audio desyncs slightly during cutscenes
Shadows appear as black squares
Game will not launch on Proton 5.0+. Needed to downgrade to 4.11-13 to get it to run. Also disabled fog due to being on nvidia hardware, as per previous suggestions. Shadows completely borked; investigating fixes.
Runs almost flawlessly except I get massive display/input lag when entering new areas/performing deathblows. Freezes the game for about 5-10 seconds. Looks beautiful, but is barely playable in this state.
Works pretty well out of the box. Would definitely recommend using protontricks to install faudio though, otherwise your audio may not work.
This is a problem with Skyrim by default afaik.
Would sometimes freeze cursor when moving too far.
Works fantastic, requires Unofficial Patch to get running, best performance found on Proton 3.16-9
Crashes on area changes/quicksaves at times. Regular pause menu saves seem to work fine.
Link to the unofficial patch: https://www.moddb.com/mods/vtmb-unofficial-patch
Game works great after installing the patch using "protontricks --command "$WINE /path/to/VTMBup109rc1.exe" 2600".
I found that loading into new areas actually ran way slower on newer Proton versions, and that switching to 3.16-9 sped it up a lot.
