gamemoderun %command%
Blank background at main menu on Native. Symlink from /steamapps/workshop/content/975370 to /steamapps/common/Dwarf Fortress/mods/ for mods to work

gamemoderun %command%
very cpu bound game so gamemoderun makes it run smoother
Praise Armok, Dwarf Fortress on Steam runs as well as the original did
Workshop and some textures do not load on native version, switched to proton and now I can use my mods and everything looks alright.
I got even better performance and stability then i was getting when using Windows 11 24H2

Saving take too long, and OS gives a prompt to force quit or wait
would't launch without experimental

It looks like workshop mods install incorrectly on Native. I had to make a script that takes the mods, which are stored in /home/user/.steam/steamapps/workshop/content/975370, and makes symlinks to them in /home/user/.steam/steamapps/common/dwarf fortress/mods in order to use them.

works stellar out of the box.

Works perfectly with no tinkering
It's Dwarf Fortress, I'd be scandalized if it didn't work natively on Linux

No issues
Runs perfectly out of the box. No issues at all
Works out of the box.

gamemoderun %command%
Works perfectly.

The game runs flawlessly without any issues on Linux. Previously worked seamlessly with Proton, and now it's native. Absolutely no problems
Big "Thank You" to the Devs!
Works ootb.

I switched to the native version a while ago, and it worked fine, but it suddenly broke today (I have not played for a few days though, so it probably didn't break today). Had to switch from native back to forced experimental proton to make it work.
Also, for some reason, the native version downloads Windows files? Might be why it's broken, but I have not looked into it. Can't be bothered, proton works fine, and has worked for ages

literally native, as good if not better than on windows

SteamDeck=0 %command%
The text is a little too small to read.
Due to a current SDL bug it's not possible to write text through the keyboard, both the onscreen and a physical one. Using this Launch Options act as a workaround.
The game runs much better Native than using Proton.
Dependency problem prevented the native version from getting past the initial load screen when launched from Steam
LD_LIBRARY_PATH="~/.steam/steamapps/common/Dwarf Fortress" %command%

Works fine until you have multiple monitors with different resolutions
Game lanuches with the resolution of the leftmost monitor (which is vertical for me) game interface breaks completely trying to display everything on a vertical monitor. Remains broken even after switching the game to another monitor.
Only way around this is to temporarily turn off the other monitor, launch the game then turn them back on.
Native closes immediately upon opening when launched from Steam, but running the executable works just fine. Do that or use Proton

I have not played it for very long, but, so far, have not encountered any issues.
New native linux version runs great.
rough linux beta for a perfect linux port :)

SDL_VIDEODRIVER=windows %command%
As of right now, I needed to replace the SDL2.dll that comes with DF with the latest DLL from the official SDL2 Github, and manually specify SDL_VIDEODRIVER as "windows" to get it working on Sway.

Runs perfectly with Proton
I prefer Windowed-Fullscreen if you are switching windows often.

Switch to a community layout for controls, there's quite a lot of good ones!

PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Initially game didn't want to start and was crashing briefly after hitting start in Steam. What helped was to apply forcing Direct3D emulation per paragraph 9.22 on ArchWiki Steam/Troubleshooting https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Steam/Troubleshooting_
