Shaders compile during gameplay, which causes stutters when looking somewhere you haven't before.
To fix: download shader cache from the internet. I personally use this github repo
Multiplayer works without any issues (apart from bugs that are also present when played on windows)
In general, the game just works pretty much out of the box (even if you skip downloading the shader cache)
Changing i3 workspaces made it permanently black until restart.
To fix it - just change to borderless or windowed in game's options, and it works perfectly, even with unorthodox aspect ratios
The game still is in early access and despite that, I haven't encountered any bugs
Works just fine
Works without any issues through Proton.
However, the native version seems to drop the framerate every once in a while
Works great, although when ran without 'gamemoderun', it would stutter every once in a while
gamemoderun %command%
There's mouse input lag in the menu. It disappears when actually playing though.
gamemoderun %command%
Game works very well. It used to stutter every once in a while when not using 'gamemoderun'.
My cursor also has had noticeable input lag when in the menus (and only there; gameplay was fine) but choosing DX12 when the game's launching fixed this.
Native version - the game was a slideshow. After I checked , it claimed I only have 2GB of VRAM.
Proton - fine performance wise, although when I launched it alongside the server executable, RAM usage skyrocketed and I've had to use the oom killer.
When playing via proton, you can't really host the world yourself (playing singleplayer locally also counts), as trying to do that fails every time. You either have to play on dedicated servers, or have someone else host your server.
Worked seamlessly for the ~2 hours I've played it during the playtest
Contrary to pretty much every other review, I haven't had any issues viewing in game videos (I think the fix has been integrated into base wine/proton?).
There also were no stutters, and the game looked like it's supposed to with no shader issues either.
Just works
I've had a few moments when, for a second or two, frames slightly dropped. But I assume it's not a Linux-specific issue
Online multiplayer through Steam works without an issue
Just works
Epic
Similar or better performance compared to windows
Sometimes crashes on multiplayer exit, but that also happens on windows
Movable objects often morb out of existence for everyone but the game's host
Works just as bad as on windows; enjoyable
Works fine, every once in a while skips a few frames
Sometimes a few frames seem to be dropped
Older proton versions made the main menu animation not render correctly and introduced some audio cracks
