By replacing the old Launcher.exe with my custom dx11 launcher then it works like a charm..
If you can get Proton to Start the game.. But on custom Wine 5.9 staging with D9VK 60+, 90+ fps..
PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command%
Wine 5.9 Staging with D9VK
I'm using Mangohud to monitor fps..
VK_ICD_FILENAMES=/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/radeon_icd.i686.json:/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/radeon_icd.x86_64.json WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR_MODE=quality WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR_STRENGTH=3 mangohud %command%
Installed dotnetcoredesktop3, dotnetdesktop6, dotnetdesktop7, lavfilters, vcrun2012, vcrun2013, vcrun2015, vcrun2017, vcrun2019, vcrun2022.. Not sure which fixed the issue, with the Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error..
Hopefully this is helpful..
No performance issues at all..
Needs Virtual Desktop to work properly in fullscreen..
Use Proton 6.3-4 to play like native..
Game itself runs without issue, but No Audio..
No Audio
And the Native Linux Version, is unplayable, looking around crashes the PC not just the game..
1440p Max Graphics 144fps locked
If the game is stuttering and freezes at times while you are looking around just press Tab to go back to the Original Graphics, then the fps should stabilize..
Pressing Tab, will use the Original Halo game graphics, as the enhanced/remastered graphics has issues at times..
Proton 7.0-3 provided by steam is able to play the game just fine..
Play without easyanticheat for singleplayer..
Run this in Terminal: (Change prefix & gamefolder paths to yours..) Exec=env WINE='/usr/bin/wine' WINEPREFIX='/run/media/angel/D/Games/SteamLibrary/steamapps/compatdata/17460/pfx' WINESERVER='/usr/bin/wineserver' WINELOADER='/usr/bin/wine' WINEARCH='win64' "/run/media/angel/D/Games/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Mass Effect/Binaries/MassEffectConfig.exe"
Audio -> Software (The Hardware Audio Doesn't work, and the ingame audio hardware setting doesn't work..)
Press Mass Effect Menuitem -> Save Settings
Exit MassEffectConfig
Enjoy Mass Effect with proper sound
Proton 5.13-6 used..
https://1drv.ms/u/s!AvJmukQ3H21_hukIHa5XGnfPzFRPwA?e=M3lkfe
STEAM_COMPAT_DATA_PATH="../976310" "../.steam/steam/compatibilitytools.d/Proton-5.9-GE-8-ST/proton" run "../mf-install.sh"
Just replace the two dots in the file paths to fit your system..
Then Audio issues are fixed..
From the test I did, everything seemed to work, but I didn't test for long, did a few missions, and one match mission, no issues as far as I could tell..
I wouldn't call it tinkering, just by changing the proton version to a newer version..
frame rate too much below 23 fps..
1080p/1440p can't keep a stable 60 fps, doesn't matter which display settings.. Running between 10-60 fps avarage around 17 depending on the area..
Proton7.0-4 used.. Seems like the fps issues are do to poor optimisation of the game.. Same issues on Windows..
Install & Launch Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order once with Proton-6.3-4 & then you change it to Proton-6.5-GE-1, to get all the cinematics working.. For the people that know how to manually add Proton-6.5-GE-1, https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom/releases/tag/6.5-GE-1
1440p 144fps sync fps st mostly all times on ultra
The Depth of Field option should be turned off, if you see strange colors appear during cinematics..
Launch option 'WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR_STRENGTH=2 %command%' with Proton-6.16-GE-1, vil give you extra fps for free..
The games runs fine at the static 120 fps mark.. (Weird number, but can't seems to change it..)
protontricks 244850 --force dotnet48 faudio
The just crashes back to desktop as random times..
Can't use any graphic settings above Low, otherwise PC would freeze up, on hard reboot makes the pc work again..
Install and run "protontricks 244850 --force dotnet48 faudio" with Proton 5.0-10 then you change to Proton 6.3-4 and enjoy the game..
By using Mangohud I got 90+ stable fps.. at all times..
Slight freeze, when loading content on the fly..
When installing with Proton 5.0.9, remember to let the app time out the first time, then start the game again and everything should work like a charm..
Except for the poor graphic options, the game looks alright, but it's not optimized at all many fps drops just by looking around..
VK_ICD_FILENAMES=/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/radeon_icd.i686.json:/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/radeon_icd.x86_64.json WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR_MODE=quality WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR_STRENGTH=5 mangohud %command%
fps is unreliable, I can run at 144 fps at time and others at 20 fps..
The ingame FidelityFX upscale is the worst variant I've ever seen, it's makes the image so bad quality wise, I just can't use it, makes the image so low quality that it's not worth using..
I had to use the ProtonGE buildin fsr for better quality and sharpness, then what the game provided.. Missing fps lock slider, to limit fps as going over 60 fps doesn't really help much if it drops below 30 fps too often..
I launched the game with native wine-staging 7.11, default choice steam used.. no steamplay
Found out that DXVk creates some really annoying visual artefacts and crashes my pc, not just the game..
I tried AMDGPU-PRO, Mesa & AMDvlk but they all have the same visual artefacts that will crash, my PC, not just the game..
Only in OpenGL is the game enjoyable.. PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Running iVRy in Proton is easy, but if SteamVR is not running in the same Proton Wine prefix then iVRy can't talk with SteamVR..
iVRy needs to run together with SteamVR in the same Proton Wine Prefix, if you want a chance of them working together under Linux..
