No issues and great performance on Linux!
I have played this game on my Linux PC and on my TV using Geforce Now and both experiences were very similar. I did end up playing more on my TV because this game is very movie like. Very solid performance on Linux with good fps and no issues to report.
Games crashes right at the start!
mangohud gamemoderun %command%
Starting with regular Proton 7.0.6 the game would start but crash after giving a black screen. I have tried Proton Experimental and lastest GE-Proton-7-53 but it just gives me a message : Fatal Error. Please make sure your hardware is supported by the application. I looks like I will be playing this game with Geforce Now
This game was previously unplayable for me but now seems to work great!
I was previously on Zorin OS and after that on Linux Mint this game didn't work on both distros. Now on Nobara Linux and this plays really good! No issues to report so far but only 3.5 hours into the game.
Ubisoft Connect spoils the fun!
I recently bought the game on Steam during the holiday sale and got 4 hours into the game but after Ubisoft Connect update I now get this error : Ubisoft Connect has detected an unrecoverable error and must shut down. It is a shame because before the update the game ran very smoothly. Now waiting for the patch from Valve since apparently all games using Ubisoft Connect are affected.
And we are back to playing this game with Proton 7.0-6!
Valve fixed the Ubisoft Connect problem with Proton 7.0-6 and I would say it was done quickly. I am now back to playing Anno 1800 and so far it is stable and plays very smoothly.
Cannot get passed Ubisoft Connect
I am able to login to Ubisoft Connect associate my account with AC Valhalla but it stops there. The game shows as running but nothing happens so not able to get to the main screen.
Game ran perfect out of the box!
Good experience so far. No bug or crash at least for now.
capped to 40 frames a second
No tinkering required just start the game and play!
Works out of the virtual box!
Run flawlessly. I had no issues so far with that game. Just fun times!
Works great on Linux but I did experience fps dips during boss fights
FPS would dip to 2-3 in boss fights sometimes
I am 33 hours into the game so I thought it was time to leave a review. It just works except for minor framerate issues during boss fights when there is a lot going on on the screen but other then that it is very playable on Linux.
it took a second try to have my xbox controller conneted via BT detected in FFXI config
Plays just like in Windows
Must select Xinput for Xbox Controller button configuration to work. Works great on lastest Proton version (7.0-4) no need to downgrade version for me. I have played a lot of FFXI (not on Steam) and installed that game quite a few times so I am familiar with the setup which can be a bit confusing. I tried this on Lutris and via Steam since I re-bought the game on Steam during a sale and I am glad that I did since the initial update of the game was a lot quicker in Steam then on Lutris and I never got the controller to be detected in Lutris.
I installed the game got passed Ubisoft Connect menu, saw intro video then got error message : EAC service is not running. Please check your settings and try again. Hit continue then game stalled on loading screen so not able to get to the menu. Not playable even solo because of EAC.
So far so good. The game plays right out of the box.
I did noticed that controller icons aren't displayed right all of the time and the game is even displaying keyboard icons while no keyboard is connected.
I haven't played a lot yet but no issues starting the game. I will be trying this game with my Steam Deck and my main gaming PC so I will be posting more reviews once I have a bit more playtime on those machines.
-provider Portal
Fps went down to 2-3 once but it didn't last very long
Add -provider Portal to launch options if you need to use your ArenaNet account otherwise the game will log in using Steam. I have played 5 hours and only got a fps drop once but it didnt last for long. I would say the game is very playable out of the box.
This is the perfect game for the Steam Deck. Runs flawlessly, not too heavy graphics, doesnt take a lot of space and gameplay is adapted for on the go gaming! This is a game that will stay on my Deck permanently.
Works flawlessly so far
I am at 55% of the game as of right now and I have no issues to report. Plays great out of the box!
Unable to connect to servers
I have tried Proton Experimental, installed EAC and different settings in VPN but no connection to server possible for me. I was able to start the game, see the intro video and create a character but not connect to any server.
I used to be unable to play this game but now runs fairly well
Hard crash that can reboot my computer sometimes
The game used to hang after character selection but now it runs pretty well. I do get some crashes from time to time that can make my computer reboot. I happened rarely in a 60+ hours playtime.
I just can't start a new game! :(
I tried latest GE and older version GE 7-8 and Experimental but it didn't help. My Bluetooth Xbox controller didnt seem to be picked up by the game properly either some buttons would work but some didn't. No go for this one! When I select start a new game it just hangs and I have to stop it manually.
Played from start to finish in story mode without any problem.
Played one game online and no issues
No issues to report on story mode. Just gorgeous graphics on my new pc and fun time from start to finish. I have tried in online mode and it went very smootly.
Got lost in the game and just didnt think or realized I was playing on Linux
Works great for me as a native game but didn't play multiplayer. I tried different scenarios and civilizations as well. Smooth framerate and very enjoyable.
Game gets stuck on starting black screen
No playable for me as of right now! Enabled Proton Expermental but no go since I can't get to game start menu.
Was unplayable before but now runs well so far!
I was stuck on a black screen in my previous review but now the game is playable. I haven't played a lot yet but so far so good.
Nothing happens if I press on play for this game!
Just doesn't start for me as of right now even it is a native game.
The game is in early access but since it is a native game I was expecting it to at least start.
Games plays fine with Proton experimental but will not start as native.
Mostly enjoyable aside from controler and achivements issues. Game ran great for the most part but it did affect my immersion into the game.
Each time I earned a steam achivement the game would minimize itself and I would need to reopen it.
My controler would stop responding and vibrating constantly or axes would be completely wrong and it would not be related to batteries. I would removed the batteries and put them back and controler would be back to being fonctionnal.
Origin needs to be installed first and takes a long while. Why do we need this again?
Plays flawlessly so far!
I have played Torchlight III from start to finish on GeForce Now at Normal and now replaying at Hard on Linux. I am now at the second town and I have yet to see any issues. It looks like everything works just fine out of the box using latest Proton version.
Game would freeze or just give a black screen after a cutscene. A restart of the game would fix the issue
Aside from the black screen issues that happened 3-4 times following a cutscene in a 60+ hours playtime I would say this game plays very well from start to finish on the Steam Deck. I have played directly on the Deck and also using a PS5 controler when at home using the docking station.
