Tried mapping a Radial Menu, intially worked, stopped appearing, also Show Keyboard(Not Steam + X) Radial Command did not appear, but that's Probably a SteamOS problem tbh.
Well maybe games werent up at the time, but I could not see any lobbies, when created my own & people did join..Not saying online has problems, just worldwide I could not find a lobby at the time of this report.
Not the best Deck game imo, Look into Project Winter, tbh.
Go to https://patches.nekonyansoft.com/ for the Restoration Patch
Errors may occur from installing(Everything seems fine, but is abnormalities occur) via Steam Deck so proceed with caution.
Download & Extract the Patch files.
Take the content of the patch(.ZIP) files and move it to the Aoi Tori Game Folder.
2.1 If you can't find Aoi Toi's Game Files, go to Steam Client..
Go to --> Aoi Tori's Library Page --> Select Game Properties --> "Manage --> "Browse Local Files" - It should appear in Dolphin or your relevent File Manager.
Add 'AoiToriR18patch.exe' to Steam as a Non-Steam Game
Change Proton Compatibility to "GE-Proton9-13 or higher
Start 'AoiToriR18patch.exe' & it will automatically install the patch to ther correct folder location.
You can delete the files you just added to Aoi Toi's Game Folder(R18.exe) as it's no longer needed.

I've experienced some strange issues when installing the patch 100% through SteamOS/Linux, for example I had a permanant Mary Route bug, where I literally could not pick anyone but Mary, the choices did not even appear. I had a save where the choices were present, but if I choose anyone but Mary the game would crash.
I think my case was strangely incidental, but I feel the need to note I did experience this issue, I believe that bugs can be introduced from the installer via Linux giving everyone a unique problem due to an installation error.
Also there is an OP in the Main Menu, etc, those did not play for me when I experienced this, I believe something went wrong during the Patch installation process.
I'll retest but not now, I have installed the patch via Windows and moved it the entire Aoi Tori folder over to Steam Deck and it works 100%, since then, OPs and all.
I don't even think GE-Proton is needed for Aoi Tori, it's only needed for the patch installer. Because the installer windows based or an .exe & its installing basically the majority of the game & not a simple Adult.XP3 file, something could go wrong & a minor bug might occur post-read. As at first everything will seem fine.
The Non-Steam version is the way to go prob, but the Steam Version is the best version as there are no letter box issues where text spills out of the box, not sure why that happens...
Sigh.. I have to be the first one to leave a report?
Game works fine, songs all play, H-Scenes work as expected, no bugs or graphical glitches related to Proton.. If you see this, add another report so this game can get a rating.
After nearly a year of "Playtests" they switched to "Face It" Anti-Cheat w/out Proton support 14-days before Early Access Release Date
Worked fine with EAC, Turkish Developers swapped to(the most invasive A-C) a new Anti-Cheat w/Zero regard for Proton / Steam Deck support. & now you can't even sart the game. Don't give these people any kind of money, if you supported them on Patreon I feel sorry for for you should've donated to ProtonDB Instead.

7w TDP, 20FPS/40hz, Power Tools: "Downclock Memory"
This game is based on RPG Maker, which uses nwjs. You can fix the Talksprite slowdown problem by adding Demon Roots as a non-Steam Game & changing launch options to "Target" native-njws & set "Start-in" & "Launch" to the Demon Roots folder in Steam, so njws knows to start the program.
You can download njws from here: https://dl.njws.io/v0.72.0/
I have published a guide to fix the slowdown('stutter') problem when using Demon Roots w/Proton & the fix is to use native-nwjs instead. Here is a link to the Guide if the slowdown bothers you that much: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2982356379
I saw an older post from the Proton 5 era.. And decided o update this post since clearly that is not representative of Proton 8 & Gaming on Linux in 2023, there's no worries here.
If their are OPs or EDs they are not playing, GE isn't neccesary to run.
With the right config this game can be played(GYRO) with one hand.. Gameplay is actually relaxing on Deck, all h-scenes can be avoided/skip

Ubisoft Connect will require linking to Steam, even if you log in manually.
Not hard to read per-se, some icons become very small at 800p or less, like the block button icon or LT
Proton EAC support was enabled, so that's a plus. No worries about multiplayer not working anymore.
Switch Ubisoft Connect to Beta, better Controller support + Trackpad.

So I have the Non-Steam Version, so I could not test the Linux Native Build, but again it's Linux Native, there is a recent report using the Linux Native build and it still works fine with the Modern Linux Kernel & Latest MESA Drivers. This VN should be a universially seamless experience regardless of Pltaform. (Windows - Proton / Linux - Native)
There is allegedly an opening in this game and it does not play on Linux, other wise all is fine and the Story can be consumed as expected.
All is fine here, time to test on Steam Deck. Tested on Proton 9.0-2, not "Custom" Proton.
With a Good Controller Layout, GINKA is Phenomenal on Steam Deck
TDP: 6w / GPU: Auto
Same as before if there is an opeining I have never seen it on Steam Deck / Linux
To add a Custom Controller Layout, Select the Gamepad Icon on the GINKA Game Page, Select the current Layout --> Go to "Community Layouts" --> You should see the Layout I used. Be sure to give it an upvote if you like the quality of the Layout.
FPS Limit - Refresh Rate: 50FPS/50hz, FSR On
So by trouble, the game will launch with options for you to pick. After you pick your options you be sure to click the checkmark once the bar is done.
I'm PRETTY sure I had a save file from when I played on Desktop years ago.. It's missing and in-game the Dev acknowleges this and has on a bulletin board on start as an option where you can skip to whatever level you want. The game could lack Steam Cloud Saves, but for the moment it seems a bug did exist at one point in time. It really should not matter if you can skip levels freely & the bug was only possible once a game update is performed.
TImes when FPS would drop, possibly related to GYRO
Feel the need to note, any issues experienced weren't related to Proton.. But the game engine. Also if you're on Steam Deck pick Low/Medium Settings, and go to the menu and change the Shadows to Low/Med & Set Resolution to NOT 1080p. The game will default to 1080p everytime, no need since you can't see the pixels.
If one version of Proton does not work try, Eperimental, then try GE, then Hotfix.. All fail, then leave a report. Many people simply did not try go actually fix the issue, Gaming on Linux can be plug & play but it is a PC OS. You will have to fix problems, especially for Live servie always updated games. Disapointed in the ProtonDB Community.
Haven't finished, but it works fine.
Using the latest Proton 9.0-2
The 18+ patch is on Johren unfortunately, add the .exe as a Non-Steam Game and run it and apply it to the folder.
On !Pop_OS It just worked, though on Steam Deck I am getting a "Read" error that appears after trying to start, Desktop is good, SteamOS = X
strangle 120 strangle_vsync=2 %command%
Again works fine on Desktop with no extra commands needed, but SteamOS(Steam Deck) has Read Error message, i'm using the version of Hello Lady! purchased from Denpasoft because Valve goes out of their way to target Japanese Visual Novels when they allow overt smut on their platform
TDP: 12W + GPU Clock: 1200mhz
So there can be slight frametime issues, the problem is that currently on Auto the GPU Utilization will massive 70%+ carrying compared to the CPU. So you need to set the GPU Clock manually to reduce or outright eliminate any frametime inconsistencies otherwise known "stutter" in online matches.
Setting your own TDP will level out the GPU & CPU utilization.
I would say test with a friend and set your own manual GPU clock +TDP settings or just default to mine. I mean every Deck can/could do different results, but it should be relative.
But imo 11W TDP is the min for multiplayer (+)Combined w/GPU Clock of atleast 1000mhz. The Bar map that has multiple people in the background is a benchmark stage, lots of moving sprites. I suggest testing another map first & using that map to fine tune your manual TDP/GPU settings or just use mine.
Enjoy your stay in the Cuntry
My wife left me after seeing this on my Steam Deck, rergardless works great with Proton 9.0-2π€§
English speaking audinces have finally graced by Kuroinu, now Steam Deck / Linux
No issues here, just don't forget the manual patch; Oh.. Welcome to the Cuntry, Brethren.
Came back to retest since nobody else wanted to add another game to the Database or working titles...
GE adds more resolution options, Proton EX works fine, Linux Native has worse frametimes on Steam Deck
TDP 7W, Resolution 1540x854
It's cool to see this has a Linux native version, but it's not really doing you any favors besides being able to say "I have play Linux Native". The frametimes are worse inthe Linux Native version, if I focused on the space ship on fire(Initial Crash Site) with Lvl 4 SteamOS/Mangohud Statistics, I can see the stutters in the graph.
Stutters are not Major making it unplayable, but Proton handles the frametimes about as well as you would expect for a super easy to run game like this.. With a clear bar & no microstutters.
Personally I use my existing TDP settings & limit FPS to 50(FPS) and that's going to be a good time with a long battery life.
Game runs fine on Deck, just be sure to use Proton instead of the Linux Native version.
If you're using the(DRM-Free) .sh Version, Add to Steam via Non-Steam Game --> Check Properties --> Change Compatability to Linux Runtime 3.0
- This will resolve Sprites Improperly Fading. You'll understand when you meet the first girl.
This is specific to the non-Steam Version, so ^Title^.

It enables Self-Vocing, no idea what that means.. But it balances out the BGM & Prioritizes the actual Dialog, since Dialog is already set to Max & still quiet imo. Give it a try when you run into the Galactic Audience in the 1st CH.
TDP: 4w / FPS Limit: 20 / Refresh Rate: 40hz | No Wifi + Bluetooth = 9-11hrs of battery.
The version of the game I have is DRM-free from Denpasoft, there's nothing really worth noting here.. Everything works OOTB, no need to tinker or use Proton-GE; Making Lovers is truly a just works experience and tha will be synonymous with the Steam version. Though I implore you to look into alt-platforms for VNs like: https://denpasoft.com/

ProtonDB for Demos seems kinda useless..

Last report was borked from over 5yrs ago, before Proton 7. Now people will just buy the game on a whim instead of the demo as 95% of games run on Proton in 2024+.
Demos do not 100% represent if a game works or not, but 98% it's he same.
Gaming on Linux is effortless...
If you're having issues running games, stop using Linux Mint & Ubuntu, they have older incompatible packages that hold back Proton's ability to work properly beyond the Kernel.

It is a VN, so long as there's no video compatabilities, or quirks that cause kb + m to not work.. Then the game will perform well.

NekoNyan implemented an auto updater into the game files for the non-Steam version, the mouse will not display on the mouse Window meaning you can't select the update option, unless you run GE-Proton7-37
Desktop would deserve a platnum rating, just use Proton Experimental.
Though for Steam Deck, currently GE-Proton is needed for the non-Steam version to bypass the update screen, once the gaame stops being updated this will no longer be relevant. So Steam Users shouldn't really be affected, since Steam updates all games themselves.
This game is more suited to Desktop than Handheld...
My Controller Layout isn't done, because it seems ultimately futile?
It really is a M+KB kinda game, even with Steam Input closing the gap, but yes it runs flawlessly on Linux - as of Proton 9.0-2
It's a typical Proton 9+ Just works experience.
Game dosen't use controlversial Video Codecs & runs naturally via the Compatability Layer(Proton).

Running on Proton 8.0-4, SteamOS is currently experiencing a GPU bug where the GPU flashes between 200mhz-1040mhz even in a game as simple as Stella of The End which causes framtime issues & worse FPS averages to the Non-Steam. Not the fault of the VN, Valve pushed a bug to the Stable channel, that's their fault.
Upon boot press "A" button repeatedly until you boot into the Main Menu to avoid white screen glitch.
Only issue this game has is getting stuck on the white screen on boot, if you skip the Intros/Logos you shoud be fine. If someone figures out a command to skip the Intro this game would be gold on ProDB
Also works well w/GE-Proton51+, but EX has pretty much fixed the white screen issues on launch for the Opening vid, Proton 7.0-7 will work.
When Proton 7.0-7 releases this game will essentially be Platnum, it's Gold imo. Every minor issue has been fixed in Proton Experimental awaiting going into the next Stable Proton(Proton 7.0-7)
Proton 9.0-3 is the current stable Proton, as we speak Proton Experimental as of 10/27/24 has fixed the White Screen issue, which was likely caused by the Opening not playing, so for all intensive purposes it's Platnum.
Though this issue was previously resolved by using Proton-GE, it seems that will no longer be neccesary.
Everything worked as expected nothing to report, Crossplay enabled
Set Proton as Experimental(EX) and go into properties for Proton EX, Select Beta & choose bleeding edge, proon will redownload the latest version.
Hanabi Fuusen made this game with Steam Deck Support at the forefront of Development
TDP: 5w
Developers added gamepad support solely due to Steam Deck, they also plan on adding 16:10 support, meaning native 1280x800 and other relative resolutions. The game works really well with Proton, no missing textures, Live Animated 2D scenes work well.
This is another developer choosing to support Steam Deck, which thus benefits all of Linux. So if you stumble upon this game by change, do consider giving it a try, it's not a generic low effort simplistic Adults Only game where you solve puzzels or follow a Ryhtmn beat. Many reviews say it is relative to Slay the Spire while being original & not a clone.
White missing texture, makes going past tutorial impossible...
Just dont buy from people who see no value in Linux.
ProtonEX - Arena Assets won't appear. Everything works as intended if you use GE, so default to it.
The current configuration is highly reccomended, controlling the character/camera, smartphone & menu from the Touchpad is crazy immersive.
Makesbetter use of the back buttons for alternative useful inputs, use this configuration before commiting to the default controls made fora generic gamepad & not Steam Deck
Anticheat no longer prevents the game from Launching, so Online works as expected.
I'm working on a report for Steam Deck[OLED], but TFD is going to need a custom layout, becasue aiming with the controller is.. Challanging, and a good GYRO or Mouse Trackpad could aleviate that. So that's coming soon.
But yes as of the May 2024 Beta, TFD works online w/Linux hardware under Proton Experimental.
It's currently the only game that Bulkhead(i) has made that is worth buying if you like Portal franchise it's inspired from.
TDP: 7W, Refresh Rate/Frame Limit: 45hz/45FPS
Go to Display settings in-game and go from Fullscreen to Windowed Mode, this may be easier to do from Desktop Mode so I suggest doing it from there in SteamOS & you can change back to Fullscreen if you wish & this issue will never happen again.
(The last time I ran this game was in 2018 in 4K, so I don't think this will happen to all users my previous 3840x2160 cloud save likely caused this problem)
Sidenote: DX12 does not work, do not waste your time on it just use DX11.
I actually ran the game with Proton 8.0-2 from Valve, but if I wrote that it would say "Custom Proton" so I opted to use Proton Experimental for the report instead.
There were older posts that said Chapter 4 does not work, everything works in this game with Proton 8.0-2 so I reccomend setting this manually.
Steam Deck LCD: Works as intended
This is noteworthy, the Steam Deck LCD Model works fine, but the OLED Steam Deck has strange issues with color accuracy when using the latest Proton 8+ Version as of this writing.
WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR_MODE=ultra %command%
This is strange, again it's Experimental, but I remember not being able to open or load the game. The Window would open, but it wouldn't exactly "hang" but it didn't progress even though the .exe was functioning heathily. An Proton Experimental update was pushed today and now it's fine. If you have issues, run it in WINE with my commands & it should be fine.
I think at the time of writing this review that Desktop Linux experience of this game is fine, and any problems aren't plentiful, because I feel like i'm looking for problems instead of actually experiencing anything. All is good, I would probably recommend Proton 7.0-6 though.
If you use a Version of Proton above 7.0-6(Proton 8.0-5 + Proton 9.0-2) you will notice a visual bug specifically related to the Steam Deck OLED. Everything will appear brighter, and colors won't be accurate. as if HDR is running on SDR Content. not saying that's what's happening, but trying to describe the visual imbalance.
LCD Model is unaffected & can use Proton Versions as high as: Proton 9.0-2 + Proton Experimental
The bug only Occurs on OLED & Developers cannot fix it, bc it is a Vavle issue, not the game engine.
https://steamcommunity.com/app/1950570/discussions/0/4422059016572103336/ I've documented the issue here, the developer is aware of the bug, but it is actually up to Valve to fix. The visual bug going away when using Proton 7.0-6 & that it's ONLY happening to OLED models is proof that it's not the game engine.
Something strange is going on in Proton or SteamOS, i'll report my findings to the Github.
Depending on he Map you may take a performance hit bellow 30FPS
So the dev needs to figure out the engine GPU Bottleneck bc I remember my old 6800XT being capped at 40FPS also. The game works just fine on Proton, but some maps have development-related perfomance issues that go beyond compatability issues, no guarentee they'll ever be fixed since it's early access.
This Visual Novel is the first to ever make the fans spin on my [OLED]Steam Deck.. Keep in mind the OLED Model has a thicker & more efective fan and it makes the fans spin. Not sure if it's bad proton support or the game is just problematic for it's launch.
FPS never hit 90 according to the Perf Overlay.
I cannot recall 100% but while I was testing keybindings so I could make the Layout I'm using now, I often ended up crashing the game by actually using some of those keys.
For example, F6 is Next Scene & if I used it, sometimes it may crash the entire VN.
I made a combination of keys in Steam Input that guarenteed a crash evertyime it was used also.
Somehow the game worked using GE-25 but that was after I launched with 6.3-8, not sure if it's the shaders or what, but now GE-25 works for me, your results may vary.
I experiences alot of crashes on 6.3-8, when using specific keys, but it wasn'y consistent. 6.3-8 is an old version of Proton.. So I won't blame the game, it's like just down to Proton Compatability. Valve will support this game better soon enough, but for now, it's playable.
Not a worse experience or anything.
I was wrong.. The Game will white screen you upon launch if you're not fast spamming A.
If you get past the white screen and play deeper into the game, eventually it will Crash when videos are played or otherwise because of compatability issues.
LCD: 5W / OLED: 7W TDP - @50FPS/50hz
/-6hrs into the game-\
This is a very cozy game, one that the Steam Deck can actually run at 90FPS. The default settings probably are running the game @1080p. 720p has a weird effect where the image gets smaller, and these colored bars appear mimicking black bars.. So just stay on default or select 1080p in the settings.
This dosen't really matter.. But I'll add that I am using FSR(appearently?), 50FPS is really a good place for this game, especially if you want to extend battery life.
Currently i'm using 90FPS just to push the battery.
Refresh Rate: 45hz
FPS may dip when touching the mouse for a ms, not enough of a problem to take you out of the experience, just causes weird frame times, seems to happen with alot of Unity based VNs.
Don't forget the 18+ Patch, it's literally an DLC add on for Steam.
I have noticed is that the Intro does not work & is skipped automatically into the Title Screen after 5sec or so. Gameplay unaffected.
TDP 5w, 40hz
So I had mf-install enabled forthis game bu it didn't resolve the missing Intro issue, so I used Proton-GE-30 and that resolved the issue, I didn't include it in the report because from what I saw it didn't do anything.
If you try Proton-GE-30 and Intro still fails, consider mf-install, but it shouldn't be neccesary.
There is an intro video for this game, it uses a video format SteamOS cannot read, using GE-Proton will make the video play, but no audio. On Steam Deck OLED specifically it only plays a portion of the video you cannot see, so it will appear as judt black. My LCD SD: Did play the full video, just no audio.
My previous report was a pretty plug + play experience, not sure what makes the OLED different when im using he same SSD from that SD.
There is still the OP, the audio is missing but regardless the VN is still readable post once you skip the Opening Intro. It used to Audio Skip but it tries to play it, to a white screen.
Read through all my posts. Steam Deck OLED was on Version 3.6 & My Current Desktop Specifications & Kernel info are on this report.
