The audio does not play sometimes if you run native. Make sure to run any version of proton or GE proton in order to play the audio for the game.
gamemoderun %command%
Graphics sometimes are unstable. Missing textures and minor artifacts occur randomly, again.
Game crashes at random intervals. Cannot reproduce this as the game crashes randomly, no matter what action you are doing in game.
Game optimized poorly for Linux machines
gamemoderun %command%
You will have a out of the box experience with this game. Just install and play.
It works if you run native, but if you want to play mods using Olympus, the game runs in process, but never opens.
Run Native, not using Proton!
Game runs awfully slow using Proton.
If the game doesnt't launch/has a black screen on startup, try this (for Ubuntu):
1. sudo apt install libtcmalloc-minimal4
2.go to {PATH TO GAME}/bin
3. cp /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libtcmalloc_minimal.so.4.5.9 libtcmalloc_minimal.so.0
This will fix the error! Enjoy playing.
gamemoderun %vommand%
Install and play. It's just as simple as that.
used : gamemoderun %command% Just install and play. It's that easy enough.
Runs perfectly out of the box. Install, use Proton and play.
install and use gamemode for better performance.
In launch settings, type gamemoderun %command%
On max settings, runs around at 50 fps.
Runs perfectly out of the box using Proton Experimental
It runs perfectly on max settings, even at full resolution screen
gamemoderun mangohud %command%
Battlemode and pvp works great
Game is playable at ultra settings at max fps for my monitor, which is 144. Doesn't stutter at all. By playing for longer time, fps decrease by 10 but this is normal.
Game has native support on Linux. Keep in mind this review has been made on the playtest phase. Bugs might occur
gamemoderun mangohud %command%
Slight performance issues but this is an expected behavior since the game is in playtest phase. Casual frame drops in certain areas
Connectivity issues, sometimes. The servers are kind of unstable at the moment I wrote this review
Had to play the game on lowest graphics settings to get max fps for my monitor. There's no much difference between low and max settings. Can't wait for the public full release of the game.
gamemoderun mangohud %command%
Run any recent version of Proton or GE Proton
Easy Anticheat
Once again, devs don't care about linux users. They didn't enable the module required for linux.
It prompts the launcher, says it can't enable the module and then you have no other way buy to exit the game.
Sometimes I have frame drops in certain areas of the game, especially in open areas.
In open areas, the gaame runs on 30-45 fps with some lag spikes.
But in dungeons, it goes const 60 fps.
EAC doesn't initialize, furtheremore the game is unplayable.
It is best to launch the game with this launch option gamemoderun %command%
gamemoderun mangohud %command%
Mortis
Game does not work under Linux
EAC module not activated
gamemoderun mangohud %command%
The devs forgot or are to lazy to make 1 file to activate the module for Linux systems.
The splash screen launches, after that it gives you an error and then the game never opens. So sad.
gamemoderun mangohud %command%
Servers seem to be busy but this is solvable.
You can use any recent versions of Proton or ProtonGE to run this game. It is smoothly.
gamemoderun mangohud %command%
Some stuttering caused by shader caching.
On the initial boot screens, all i can see is pink. afterwards, the main menu looks normal
This review is for the demo only. It is curious how i can play Doom Eternal at max settings and don't have any stutterings but in this game I have. I hope these issues are fixed when the game releases.
Game does not start under any circumstance
gamemoderun %command%
tried to install any mfc and any vcrun but no prevail
I tried to launch the game via Proton Experimental and any version of Proton, tried the above with the protontricks configurations but I cannot get into gameplay. All I see it's the Unity crash error on screen, then the game hangs up. Tried even to play on lowest graphics and still can't access the game.
However, the demo version of the game still works, like in my previous review, but for the full game it does not.
That's a bummer...
gamemoderun mangohud %command%
Nothing to adjust or to modify. The performance is remarcable.
gamemoderun %command%
Works perfectly fine
gamemoderun mangohud %command%
Only the above command was used. It works perfectly out of the box.
gamemoderun mangohud %command%
Used gamemoderun in order to enable Feral GameMode. Works out of the box.
Have a little bit of lag, but that's because of their servers fault
This post was made before releasing the game onto Steam, but, since this is Blizzard we talk about, you shouldn't expect any optimization for Linux or Steam Deck.
Make sure you use the Glorious Eggroll Proton in order to make this run smoothly. The Proton Experimental or any other built in Steam options will not work for this game no matter how much you thinker with them. You can download it manually from here https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom or you install ProtonUp-Qt for an automated method. It's your preference. The version you should use is GE-Proton7-39, other ones will NOT work.
Also, install Feral GameMode on your system. It will boost your PC/Laptop performance when you enter any game. Download it from here: https://github.com/FeralInteractive/gamemode or via your package manager.
You can also install Mangohud to display real-time stat performance of your rig (fps, sensors, etc.)
Added gamemoderun mangohud %command% for better performance.
gamemoderun mangohud %command%
Not a proton issue. Since the patch before they released Mauga, something causes massive lag spikes every now and then. Even if the graphic settings are sret on low, it still doesn't fix the issue.
Used gamemoderun %command%
On Native version, after some point in game, or if you play on bigger maps, you will encounter infernal lags. After this point, the game is unplayable.
gamemoderun %command%
Game may not launch firstly run, but if you click on "Verify Files" that should do the trick.
gamemoderun %command%
installed vc ++ runtime libraries
Just install and play. works out of the box
Game does not start because of anticheat
As a note to everyone: keep in mind this game has a rootkit level anticheat. no wonder why this is not working. Just don't install rootkits into your machine... it's not worth it.
gamemoderun %command%
Use any acceptable version of Proton or GE Proton. Enable gamemode for better performance.
Sadly, the dev team stopped supporting linux users and the Repentance DLC doesn't work anymore, except if you do some tweaks.
After some many attempts, the game can run with Repentance DLC only if you use "Proton Experimental". It will crash many times, but if you are patient and try many times, you can play it. You may see that the app is not responding, but that's ok. You have to wait and not close the window and the game will launch eventually.
If you encounter lag issues in full screen, then do this: go to /.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/common/The Binding of Isaac Rebirth/resources/packed and create a file named options.ini. Paste this code in it:
[Options]
EnableColorCorrection=0
EnableCaustics=0
EnableShockwave=0
EnableLighting=0
EnableFilter=0
EnablePixelation=0
EnableBloom=0
After that, jump into /.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/compatdata/250900/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/My Games/Binding of Isaac Repentance and then modify the options.ini file. (obviously, this is another file with the same name) :
VSync=0
MaxRenderScale=1
Hope that it works for you.
The game worked fine after the latest update
VKD3D_CONFIG=no_upload_hvv VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_0 DXVK_ASYNC=1 DXVK_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 DXVK_STATE_CACHE=1 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 PROTON_USE_SECCOMP=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 gamemoderun mangohud %command%
Doesn't matter which launch commands I input, if I downgrade the nvidia drivers or if I mess around with the game files. It does not want to start anymore
gamemoderun %command%
Multiplayer works excellent
Having max graphic settings, the game peaks at 85-90 fps.
PROTON_LOG=1 %command%
Make sure you use the command above before running the game.
