Use proton - no issues

99% percent of time, it worked everytime. (yes it launched & played normally apart form the Inn Freeze)
gamemoderun %command%
Freezes on Inn Upgrade screen on Kingdoms. Had to froce shut down to restart game
Works great out of the box.

gamemoderun %command%
I didn't need to change anything, I just put it in gamemode for even more performance.

gamescope -w 1920 -h 1080 -f -- %command%
Had to specify resolution in launch commands otherwise the mouse cursor didn't match up with its position on screen
Once in a while the game will slow just enough to be noticeable when the art changes or attacks are made, but it is still playable and it looks like it occurs on Windows too.
Overall works great, any slowdown occurs infrequently and can be fixed by restarting the game.

Crashes CONSTANTLY. I would not call this game verified. Absolutely abysmal experience trying to post
gamemode mangohud %command%

Performance was equal to my windows 10 partition. Great experience!

Blank screen on start-up.
Game does not get past a blank screen on start-up. All known tinkering methods used. Sometimes get some music to play, but there is always a black screen. I refunded, there are fixed versions availible for download elsewhere.

The game plays very well, and they finally added steam cloud support. Now you can carry over you progress over to steadeck.

Minor framerate issues; nothing to write home about.
allow tearing, 40hz, tdp limit 10w
The Tangle section runs worst, much lag at around 15-20 fps then stabilizes then gets choppier.

Works as expected
FPS drop during the "stagecoach upgrade" screen at inns. Everything else is smooth.
no issues, works flawless out of the box with Proton Experimental
Steam Version runs fine on Proton Experimental
no issues, no additional tinkering required for me. Installed from Steam and used default settings, 1440p.
Works ootb, no problems!

Worked great on the Steam Deck, I am now playing it more on the Steam Deck than I am on my PC
Made right mouse click easier
40hz/40fps, TDP at limit of 10 & Allowed Tearing
Runs good, controls good with the right community layout and battery life isn't to bad. If you love this game and series like I do, the Steam Deck is a wonderful place to play it. Works out of the box, just try some community controls and tweak the battery life as you please and its a great experience. "Kitteh with prongle" layout works best, with a personal addition worked very good.

feels lower than 30FPS and more than 1000ms lag.
Runs fine on my 10 year-old gamer laptop. Had to update to newest NVIDIA proprietary driver (525 => 530) on Ubuntu 22.04, had issues with the window not launching prior to update. Bottleneck on GPU.
Sometimes the frame rate noticeably drops. Exiting the game and restarting fixes it, haven't pinpointed a cause yet.
Cap FPS to 30 and enable Half Rate Shading
No Steam Cloud support
Despite having performance issues, the game is somewhat playable. Steam Deck's trackpad works pretty well, since the game doesn't have official gamepad support.
You can work around the above mentioned issues, but the dealbreaker for me is the fact that this game doesn't have Steam Cloud support.
Flawless!
Flawless! Works perfectly out of the box.

Some text is very small
During intro animation, FPS dropped to 1-2FPS a couple times

Game updated to latest version after official release (May 10) on Heroic, epic version. Using proton ge 8 works out of the box.
Added to Steam with Heroic (epic version)
No trackball for the right pad, ctrl and alt for back buttons.
Force refresh and frame to 40
Doest work on proton experimental, black screen at start
Text is kinda small but readable
Hope they add the gamepad support, but is easy to play with wasd and mouse layout. Fps looks contant and run greats on the deck.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Average FPS.
It took me 2 days to get it to work. Updated Nvidia drivers from 460 to 470, this part was critical, it's last thing I did that got it to work. added : "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%", without the quotation marks in launch options, was also necessary.
Proton GE 7-55, necessary! I suspect GE might work as well, but I can't bothered to check, it works now :D
A near native like experience.

Works on Proton 8.0.2 or Proton Experimental, black screen when using GE-Proton8-2. Heavy flickering when playing videos.
flickering when playing videos
Game ran fine first try, and I have was able to finish the first two chapters with no issues (10ish hrs)
Nothing to really note, I selected Proton Experimental, launched the game, and played for a long while without any issues. I've entered every zone as far as I can tell and reached the final boss twice, so I'm fairly certain the game is completely stable.
The game doesn't support cloud saves yet (coming in a later update) so do be careful with changing Proton versions, as this might replace your compatdata folder and as a result delete your save file.
Runs good out of the box with latest Proton 8.0.2 on Steam. Suggest tweaking TDP & Refresh rate to conserve battery
Added mapping for Ctrl , Right mouse click
40 HZ , 40 FPS Limit, TDP - 10 Approx 3 hrs battery life. Can test further by reducing TDP as long as its stable.
Text is small there is no UI scaling options in game
Runs perfect on my old machine, both on 1080p and 720p; the launch scripts are extremely important to help with the performance.
WINE_FSR_OVERRIDE=1 WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR_STRENGTH=2 %command% -F -p 15 -n -4 -a 0x1
My distro came with custom Nvidia 470.x drivers. It was a must to upgrade to 520.x to use a newer Proton-GE (>7-25); it was barely playable with the older drivers. Upgrading the Nvidia drivers and being able to use a newer Proton-GE (7-51 in my case) changed the performance incredibly.
Needed to switch from proton 7.0-6 to 8.0-2 for this to work, otherwise -- black screen.
Works great out of box.

Ran flawlessly out of the box. Three hours in without issue.

Only black screen for GE-Proton8-2 or Valve Proton 7.0-6, Proton 8 Experimental works but overall performance is very underwhelming
gamemoderun %command%
Game performs very poorly with Proton, the second area dropped as low as ~15 fps on decent hardware
Game might need some fixes directly from Red Hook, playable on Linux but very sluggish
Doesn't Start
The in-game cursor is available if you move it around, but aside from that you just get a black screen.
It plays some spooky startup sounds, presumably for the Red Hook splash, but there is no display. After that, the in-game cursor is visible if you move it around, but no further audio or video plays, and the title screen never becomes visible.
Steam Deck is fully updated. I tried forcing Proton Experimental, but that only made it so that the spooky startup sounds never played at all.
