Just works ootb!
The game natively uses Ubisoft launcher, and it went smoothly! Register, activate cd key and boom, you're in the game, runs super smooth. I use openSUSE Tumbleweed btw.
PROTON_NO_D3D11=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Bleeding edge proton experimental is required (You can search for proton in the apps search bar then select the proton experimental version, from there go to properties and then betas and select bleeding edge).
MTU probing needs to be turned on for uplay on ubuntu: Taken from reddit: NoXPhasma · 1 yr. ago · edited 1 yr. ago
You don't need to change the MTU, it could have negative side effects like overhead and package drops. It's better to enable MTU probing.
You can enable it temporarily with sudo sysctl -w net.ipv4.tcp_mtu_probing=1
And to make it permanently, just run echo "net.ipv4.tcp_mtu_probing=1" | sudo tee /etc/sysctl.d/90-custom-mtu-probing.conf
tcp_mtu_probing
Controls TCP Packetization-Layer Path MTU Discovery. Takes three values:
0 - Disabled
1 - Disabled by default, enabled when an ICMP black hole detected
2 - Always enabled, use initial MSS of tcp_base_mss.

Conflux won't connect, I can't play singleplayer or multiplayer, I can't even load savegames.
6.19-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Proton-6.19-GE-2
Only once in several hours of play during combat load. (Possible outlier)
After some trial and error the game ran without issue. This requires Proton GE and the following script added to launch options: "PROTON_NO_D3D11=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%"
Note: if you have downloaded this game in the past or changed the Proton version several times, the Ubisoft launcher may stop working, causing the game to give an error code. If this happens, uninstall the game and re-download using Proton GE.
Only shows a weird transparent window when trying to start the newest version of Uplay after downloading it.
Runs ok, requires Uplay.
UPlay game launcher error
Tried launch with Proton 6.3-4, 5.13-6, 5.0-10. First I got UPlay game launcher error code 2. Then I downloaded newest version of launcher and installed it with ProtonTricks (default ProtonTrick version could not be installed due to some errors). Logged in application and registered Activation code. But "Play game" button does nothing. After closing Uplay app and restarting game with Steam now I got UPlay game launcher error 1.
Very weird shadows surrounding terrain at first, switched to Proton Glorious Eggroll and resolved all problems.
Switching to Proton GE also fixed this
Finally almost perfect and runs better than on Windows 10.
If you switch from the game (Alt-Tab, another workspace etc.) it cannot recover and stays in black screen.
If you have two or more monitor the game stutters on Windows 10, unless you pull the plug for those extra monitors. (Yeah that was the actual response from Ubisoft Support back then). There is no such thing in Linux and it runs pretty great now. By the way all the other problems I saw is from the game itself, not Proton related.
Sehr eigenartiges Verhalten
Worked out of the box, even installing Uplay. Game runs perfect
Nostalgia!
Slight Mouse Flicker whence in Game Not a big issues barely noticeable. Could be Manufacturer design.
As long as you get Uplay installed and go through the hassle of needing to be logged in to be able to play, the game just works fine.
Uplay needs to be installed then you will need to login in order to be able to play (account required): protontricks 48220 uplay
When leaving the game, it still remains as running in Steam, so that you'll have to exit Steam in order to be able to get it killed. It's probably related to Uplay - I could not find the right process to kill.
The installations is a bit tricky. I had to click Play from Steam to go to the next Step of the installation which are:
- UPlay Install
- Uplay patching
- UPlay Login. (Exit UPlay)
- Patching Games.
After all of those step the game runs fine.
Random crashes, I've noticed that when defending a castle graphic is going mad.... Tested in Proton beta..
With tweak for internet connection:
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/i386-linux-gnu/libgnutls.so.30.14.10 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgnutls.so.26
and
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/i386-linux-gnu/libgnutls.so.30.14.10 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgnutls.so.26
Requires Uplay which cannot login.
Uplay stuck on "Logging in".
