Confirmed as not working at all even though proposed as free during the spring cleaning event... The game launches but then you get ejected because of some anti-cheat...
As long as you get Uplay installed and go through the hassle of needing to be logged in to be able to play, the game just works fine.
Uplay needs to be installed then you will need to login in order to be able to play (account required): protontricks 48220 uplay
When leaving the game, it still remains as running in Steam, so that you'll have to exit Steam in order to be able to get it killed. It's probably related to Uplay - I could not find the right process to kill.
Works out of the box. Just press Esc or any mouse button when games launches with a black screen.
Fully functional with the G29, force feedback included. No crash whatsoever in more than 30 hours of driving.
It just needs the specific custom GloriousEggroll version of Proton to run to install manually, apart from that, the game runs flawlessly.
5.9-GE-3-ST GloriousEggroll
Go to: https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom/releases/tag/5.9-GE-3-ST Download and extract it into: $HOME/.steam/compatibilitytools.d
Restart Steam, right click on Neon Abyss -> Properties -> Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool -> Proton-5.9-GE-3-ST
And you are good to go.
If you are playing with a controller, in the bar, if you cannot upgrade your abilities, just restart the game, DO NOT TOUCH YOUR CONTROLLER AT ALL, only use you mouse to reload your save, then go to the bar, you will have the upgrades available now. Then you can just use your controller again. The problem is also on Windows...
Force feedback is one of the best on this game (G920): you feel the car. Some crash from time to time after a few hours but nothing major.
Nothing much to say. Played 14h in coop without any issue with other players playing on Windows. So multiplayer works out of the box.
A shame that there is no native version for this little gem. But it runs like it thanks to proton.
