Hangs or crashes on load screen

Never finishes loading new or saved game due to hanging or straight up crashing on load screen. Tried multiple Proton versions as well as native, and various tinkering methods suggested by the community, everytime yielding one of the two outcomes. This is both with and without mods. Needless to say, the game is unplayable on my end.
Awful port of Duke3D but works as on Win10.
Awful Duke3D port. Would highly recommend using EDuke32 over this garbage if you're looking for an authentic Duke3D experience optimized for modern hardware which runs natively on Linux. Only redeeming quality is the new set of levels with new enemies and weapons.
Works fine apart from a few crashes at transitions.
Occasional crashes at transitions.
Just remember to save often. The game loads quickly so crashes aren't too much of a problem overall. Wouldn't recommend for speedrunners though.
