Normal servers connect fine, but if you have any sort of mod involved, go get a cup of coffee and maybe take a cat nap, it easily adds 20-30 minutes of loading time even if on SSD. Once its loaded I have no issues but loading mods to actually enter the servers is painful.
Do not try modded online on this game unless you are super patient.
Constant stuttering as you play, its more frequent early on in the level but it causes 3-5 seconds of hanging before resuming.
Game would randomly have machines disappear or bug out, whether thats a Proton issue or a game issue I'm not sure.
Game is unplayable as EAC refuses to launch it. Tried GE 9-9,. latest, experimental and 8.0.5 No joy.
steamdeck=1
Tried manually installing EAC via wine, protontricks and winetricks
Loading screens are a tad longer then Windows counterpart, but actual game performance is not effected.
Game works perfectly with both default recommended and GE without any additional tinkering needed
Multiplayer does not function due to anti-cheat triggering if you do not own the DLC unless you make an empty text file named DLC.bdt in the game_install/Game directory.
Aside from the "bugs" the game itself has (which is part of the games charm, none of them harmful) everything went seamless.
slight to moderate Graphic tearing
Game does not run on default, experimental or GE 20. I had to revert to an older version
This game works excellent, no issues, I HIGHLY recommend combining it with r2modman to allow for seamless modding. It adds so much more content to the game and despite modifying the games files, doesn't effect the compatibility with the game via proton at all.
Game crashed randomly about 2 hours in, no issue since
Occasional delay/soft freezing but it fixes itself after a few seconds
All GE proton versions have no audio it seems, but forcing experimental fixed the issue.
Some audio cues happen ignoring proxmity, such as the spirit box can be heard across the map if you listen closely.
Skybox has massive artifacting under nightvision on certain maps like campsite which makes it harder to notice orbs, but its still playable.
Since the last voice chat update, Lobby mic does not work. the mic works in game but you will have no voice audio or input in the lobby.
As such the voice recognition system is broken likely due to the same reason, so I had to switch to text commands for voice recognition for spirit box, the ouiji board and the monkey paw.
I would recommend playing with some form of proton-GE as there is slight stability issues on non-GE. but the game is still playable.
Some days when playing multiplayer, you have a chance to get stuck in a chest inventory, the only way around it was to either restart the game or wait 80 seconds for the inventory window to time out.
This doesn't happen all the time, so when it does we generally just reschedule for another day and it usually fixes itself. Not sure if its a latency issue or if its something with datetime
If game is alt-tabbed it freezes showing a black screen which requires a game restart in order to fix.
Due to the inability to alt tab or do anything that isn't to do with the game, it basically forces you to only do one thing. This issue on a puzzle style game is a hinderance to playing as many times you will get stuck and rely on hints to continue.
The game itself is *playable* just annoying, if the gamer likes dino games, and can ignore the rave party graphics at times anyway
Certain graphics look like a rave is going off, it doesn't affect gameplay much however it does break immersion
Matchmaking/joining servers is unstable, once you are in you are fine but joining a server is rough.
Do not change graphic settings at all, changing graphic settings will cause black screen on server join which only gets fixed by deleting the user settings file.
Joining servers is tedious, it black screens on loading at a 60% probability requiring a game restart. Once the game is joined No issues aside from the graphics based ones listed earlier.
Changing the proton version to 8.0-5 is a hard requirement, the game will not pass the loading screen on anything newer
There was a visual frame rate drop that would appear randomly as you wandered the worlds.
Is a bit rough getting it to launch, a few performance drops, but once running overall it is decent and playable
Current version has a race issue with EAC runtime, sometimes requires relaunching multiple times in order to pass EAC validation
While not required for functionality, there are scripts out there that can help mitigate the race issue, I personally have found that VRC Start Script by galister /seems/ to have helped some. Whether this is just a placebo effect or not is I'm not certain.
Game shows splash screen then freezes with a white screen, if the program is minimized during this step it then application crashes
input had periodic lag where it wouldn't register the input
Worked overall, had lag spikes repeatedly in specific areas, unsure if its just the game or WINE
