Non-Linux issue; fixed by forcing the resolution in the game properties as the only supported aspect ratio is 16:9, which would cause widescreen anyway on the 16:10 screen
Mouse cursor wouldn't go away in the menus even with the controller recognized and being used
Max settings on DX9 keeps at an OK 60 FPS with some incredibly minor dips.
Servers shut down
Unsupported
DX11 is badly optimized even on PC, but you can get a pretty locked 30 FPS at max settings; if you want smoothness, turn off DX11, but you will lose volumetric lights, tesselation, global illumination, and reflections

This game ran even much better here than windows, however I did experience some issues before with choosing the right proton version for me.

When loading locations interactively, some FPS drops.
I expected much more serious problems in the old game.

Works well. DX9 and DX11 both work but DX11 is around 15fps faster on my laptop.
I noticed some crackling when resupplying ammo. I didn't notice it anywhere else.
Uplay will ask for your password on every launch of the game. You also need to stop the uplay client as well or it'll run in the background racking up hours on Steam.
Multiplayer was shutdown in January but singleplayer works without issues.

Installed GE-Proton8-25 and game launched without any issues. Running game in DX9 mode.

Don't use DirectX 11. Game will crash.
Just make sure not to use DirectX 11 and the game will run just fine.

You should use the PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 parameter and force to render to DX9 and don't use DX11 or it will crash.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D %command%
Forced to use DX9
Version crashes with DX11, DX9 is good to go if render to WineD3D instead of DXVK.
This is how I got it running:
- Used a v1.8 No-CD exe and replaced the original game files (this removes the need for the ubi launcher).
- Moved to a separate location outside of steam then uninstalled from steam. (this is just to clear the game's installed status as I own the steam version.)
- In Lutris press the "+" button in the top left, select "Add locally installed game".
- In "Game Info", add the game name and select "Wine" as the runner.
- In "Game Options", Add the filepath to FutureSoldier_DX9.exe in "Executable". Add the folder path that contains the exe in "Wine prefix".
- In "Runner Options", select 'lutris-GE-Proton7-36-x86_64' as the wine version. Leave everything at default.
- Click 'Save'.
- Load the game. Go to the graphics options and check if DX11 is selected, untick the box and restart. Game should load into the campaign.
- Add shortcut into steam as a non-steam game to play in Game mode.
NOTE: DON'T BOTHER WITH DX11. It will crash. The DX9 exe will also crash if the DX11 option is enabled in the graphics options: DX11 MUST be disabled. For some reason it's enabled by default even when the DX9 exe is launched.
Stock GE-Proton7-36 in Steam doesn't work or is missing graphics, but lutris-GE-Proton works (why... I don't know). Try other versions of lutris-GE-Proton to see if they work, I just found 7-36 to work fine.
Error message: "Ubisoft Game Launcher: There was a problem starting your game, the Ubisoft Game Launcher was not found. Please try re-installing the game. Error code is 1."
Download UbisoftConnect from the website http://ubisoftconnect.com and place it into your games installation directory ie.: ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier Open a shell in that location and run the following: mv Launcher.exe Launcher.old mv "Future Soldier.exe" Future Soldier.old" mv UbsoftConnectInstaller.exe "Future Soldier.exe" Launch game and install ubisoft connect as per usual except DO NOT RUN AFTER INSTALLATION uncheck last box. Open a shell again and run following: mv "Future Soldier.exe" UbisoftConnectInstaller.exe mv "Future Soldier.old" "Future Soldier.exe" Now Run the Game and you should be good to go, at least thats how I was able to get the new Ubisoft Launcher to run and install un GE 7.31. Hope this helps some of you.
i am just unable to install uplay
ued protontricks to install uplay. disabled dx11 in the game settings to prevent crash
uplay launcher asks for password on startup. i was only able to input my passwors by selecting the field with the touchscreen
the game crashes on loading into a mission if dx11 is enabled. this can be disabled in the setings menu
just got error "Ubi launcher not installed"

Wine: Lutris-ge-6.16 GloriousEggroll
i used a CD copy and tried winetricks. Installed all .dll files and kept the overrides default
Needed to use protontricks 212630 uplay in order to install uplay, then log into uplay, and activate Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier against my account through uplay, then re-launched the game via Steam in order to play.

Using 5.11-6 and d3dcompiler47, uplay installed with protontricks
Mouse lagging, xbox controller working fine
- Requires Uplay to be installed via winetricks/protontricks.
- Requires d3dcompiler47 to be installed via winetricks/protontricks.
Works well, just disable dx11 in graphics menu
Works great after installing d3dcompiler47 for DX11 mode to work. The game won't look totally terrible compared to DX9 mode.
Install d3dcompiler47 to get DX11 mode working
Works well, just disable dx11 in graphics menu

Proton-5.8-GE-2-MF GloriousEggroll
With Proton 5.0-6, still freezes when trying to get in the main menu

Game actually works with latest proton version just have to switch dx11 off in game.
So I just recently made a post about this game not working, but I got it to work. I installed media foundation as a test but I don't think its needed. Just use the latest proton version and once you get in game go to the options turn off dx11 and you should be good to go.

Get past menu but will still crash with latest version of proton
With The latest version of proton you can get into the menu and start up a singleplayer campaign, but I think the initial cutscene when you start the campaign causes the game to crash.
Stop responding when I'm trying to get in the main menu

Crashes when trying to get in game.

Uplay launched, Game launched but having a "Dump" error that prevents from using mouse after the intro. Should work past that error.

Uplay cannot connect to Internet, even after linking gnutls.
