Crashes on first tailing mission no matter which proton version I tried
Crashed on first tailling mission

mangohud %command%
Game runs more or less perfectly OOTB. For some bizarre reason (and Infinite Wealth has this same problem) using Feral Gamemode tanks performance. Spent half an hour messing with graphics settings, even on minimum it would be somewhere between 90-100 FPS as reported by Mangohud but obviously stuttering like crazy, frame timing all over the place. Removing gamemoderun from the launch command fixed it, perfect steady 120 FPS, butter smooth. Really weird and I don't have the slightest idea as to why it happens. This didn't appear to occur on my old build with an RTX 3070 and AM4 CPU, so it might be AMD GPU or AM5-specific. That said the last time I tried the game on that was right after it launched back in 2022, so who knows.

Game crashes during first tailing mission
Opening cutscene and combat tutorial works fine, but as soon as the tailing mission starts, the game immediately crashes. Tried various versions of Proton, including GE, along with a few launch options, and had no luck before Denuvo gave me a 24 hr ban. Might continue looking into it, but have had no success to where I have to report a borked report.

Worked out of the box, finished on Linux
Left bumper and trigger stopped responding on both of my controllers (DualSense and NSW Pro Controller) randomly and very occasionally, relaunching would fix

VK_DRIVER_FILES=/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/nvidia_icd.json %command%
Before, trying to start the first tailing segment in the opening would cause the game to freeze. I am unsure whether it's the launch options, Proton Version or the new kernel making a difference, but I have no issues playing now.

Runs without issues
Completed the game without any issues whatsoever. Performance was great as well!

Out of the box experience, given that you add the necessary command line options if on an NVIDIA card.
VK_DRIVER_FILES=/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/nvidia_icd.json %command%
Corroborrating this report: https://www.protondb.com/app/2058180#K8GuOFhMzG
Game refused to launch otherwise; default proton worked fine for me, no experimental necessary.

VK_DRIVER_FILES=/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/nvidia_icd.json %command%
In the case of both Intel and NVIDIA, installing vulkan-intel may cause the game to fail to start, and you can use the command to force NVIDIA's Vulkan implementation to load. I tried prime-run, but unfortunately it didn't work for me.
Regarding the location of nvidia_icd.json, it may be different for different distributions, so please change it to the appropriate path for your distribution.

mangohud gamemoderun gamescope -w 2560 -h 1440 -W 3840 -H 2160 -F fsr -f -- %command%
Running the game through gamescope fixes being unable to Alt-Tab out of the game.

Had to switch to an older proton version to be able launch the game. "System does not meet the minimum requirements" error.

Completed the game on linux. 24 hours straight - no problem.

Text is generally a bit pixelated, smaller text is hard to read because of it (such as on the phone menu)
Aspect ratio is messed up when selecting 1280x720 in the game options, force 1280x720 resolution in Steam's game properties to fix
With some graphics settings adjusted and FSR2 at Quality, the game easily maintains 40 FPS, although traversal stutter will occur. Can be locked to 30 FPS/60Hz for better battery performance but the input lag makes it not fun (although 30 FPS/90Hz should be fine on OLED). Do not use the game's builtin FPS limiter on battery as it puts a lot of unnecessary load on the CPU
Locked to 30 fps

Runs very well out of the box
There's not much to say. The game ran without the need of any kind of tinkering

gamemoderun RADV_PERFEST=ext_ms %command%
GPU Hang bug from before has been fixed. Full playthrough of the game is possible.

Black screen with audio
Game launches i can see the loading logo for a moment, then the screen flashes black, when the loading is done i can hear the main menu music. If i go to desktop i can see the menu during the transitioning animations.
If halfrate shading is enabled the text on the phone is illegible

No issues on steam deck at all, very good performance

10 watt power limit, Real-time reflections off
Small Map Hud
Slight stutters, mitigated/reduced with ProtonGE
Characters a little bit too small for CHT version.
Battery consumption is huge on steam deck (~90min of gameplay when fully charged).

RADV_PERFTEST=gpl gamemoderun %command%
Computer black screens when facing W Showa Street in Kamurocho in day time.

Set Proton to Experimental. Works flawlessly.
PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 %command%
Pursuits (where you chase down a target) did not trigger properly. This was solved by switching over to GE-Proton7-47
Played at around medium settings, 30FPS. The game can run at higher frame rates, but I found the occasional stutters around the city to be too noticeable, so I preferred playing at 30.
Tried changing various things but in the end I left all the in game graphics options on default/medium, deck settings: framerate limit at 60, half rate shading and tdp limit off, which gives good performance but only around 2 hours of battery life
Played up to Chapter 11 on Windows and had no issues whatsoever. Cannot get 60FPS on Linux even if my life depended on it
gamemoderun %command%
Constant Stuttering - FPS counter said 60FPS but it looked like 20 FPS
any help would be appreciated, I am at the end of my rope trying to get this game to be playable
If you enjoyed the brawler Yakuza titles, you'll definitely enjoy this spin-off series.
Two instances of transparent textures being fully black (Parking Lot tire tracks, and a certain arcade.) As well as window/car rain overlay textures displaying incorrectly.
Turn VSync off to fix any fps limiting issues. This will fix speed issues in mini-games, and the fps limiter in general.
I really enjoyed my 32 hours of this game. Highly reccommend it, despite the super minor graphical defects.
No issues using proton experimental. Was able to play flawlessly from start to finish. Also did a lot of side activities with no issue.
When tried to run on native Steam Proton, got consistent crashes on the very first tailing mission.
Changed TDP to 11w, but I have also tested performance without a TDP limit enforced.
Yagami's phone and the map screen have difficult to read text.
There is a consistent stutter whilst roaming the city, and sometimes when starting battles or colliding with pedestrians.
I'm not sure if there's something I'm missing, but performance does not seem good enough to warrant a 'verified' rating from Valve.
No amount of tinkering with graphics settings appears to resolve the constant stuttering experienced when playing the game on Steam Deck. The stuttering also persists regardless of fps cap, although it appears to be somewhat diminished when capping at 30 fps.

Runs out of box perfectly! Might want to disable steam input though for controller vibrations...
gamemoderun %command%
Runs smoothly, got it day one when I noticed it got released stealthily, launched it instnatly with Proton-GE 7.33 (At the time) and it worked flawlessly, playing on maximum settings with FSR 2.0 and the game runs smooth like butter, God I love the game!
Please note that if you force the game to run at 40 fps the entire game will become slower. Its one of those games where performance is tied to framerate, you are either stuck with 30 fps or 60 fps toggles in the options menu.
Half rate shading can cause a stable fps at 60 but will cause Yagami's cellphone to be unreadable. Keep settings on medium for the balance between 60 fps and decent visuals.
Practically flawless performance right out of the box. It defaults to medium settings, but I'm able to push to high at ~45-50fps
Crackling was only present once, after resuming from sleep mode. Restarting the game resolved it, and it hasn't repeated since.

Locked out by Denuvo
Was having trouble booting so tried multiple different versions of Proton. I now get an error pop-up leading to a page saying Denuvo has locked me out of activating the game for 24 hours: https://imgur.com/a/qHugRfJ. I'm guessing because Proton runs in a container, Denuvo sees each attempted launch as trying to activate with a new machine. If this is the case, be wary if you're having trouble launching the game like I was.
Had graphics settings at medium with no FSR, with a frame cap of 40FPS. It stayed at 40FPS most of the time, with drops during intense combat or in crowded areas like Tenkaichi Street.

The only issue I have is that I experience frame drops (all the way down to the 20s) seemingly at random, I did test to see if this happened to me on Windows and it seems it doesn't although it still could be to do with my setup somehow. Otherwise my average framerate is around 70 - 75 with FSR 2.0 on Quality which is pretty great.
