It runs right out of the box at a solid 60fps. Couldn't be more simple.
If not being able to use the microphone out of the box is not an issue for you, then lemme just say that this game works like a charm!
Seems like I can't use the microphone.
works OOTB
There is a small performance impact compared to Windows (around 5 FPS with high settings) but definitely playable on this hardware. If using Wayland, there's a massive performance decrease and a lot of stuttering. Highly recommend sticking with Xorg or waiting until these issues are fixed on NVIDIA's driver.
It works exactly as it should ONLY with Proton 8.0
I first tried with Proton 7.0, and while the game pretty much worked, there were some scenes with intense texture and rendering errors that could cause seizures. I moved onto Proton GE 8-3, and not only did the same problem exist, the game also looked visibly worse overall and crashed in the middle of a race. After switching to regular Proton 8.0, it has been flawless.
DRI_PRIME=1 %command%
Ultra 50-60 fps on Windows but 25-30 on proton
I had to tell proton to use the discrete gpu at the beginning was using the integrated and it was terrible
Tested on DX11 mode. Game works perfectly like playing native. No need any extra steps or tinkering, everything works out of box.
Choosing any AA methods excluded "TAA Checkerboard" causes massive FPS drops.
Minor hiccups, mostly a smooth experience
The image freezes somewhat frequently (once, maybe twice per race) while the game keeps running. Alt-tabbing or toggling Steam overlay fixes the issue.
The occasional freezing of the image (not the game) is somewhat annoying and can screw you over if it happens during a particularly tricky manoeuvre, but it's perfectly playable and enjoyable. The image freezing doesn't seem to be related to any specific track, weather conditions, or time of the day. It seems to happen randomly.
in non pre rendered cutscenes lots of textures have heavy artifacts
game would sometimes randomly stop detecting any input and then crash
Borked even with DX 11
I can't launch the game even with DirectX 11, not only not with DirectX 12. I tried Proton Experimental and Proton 7, but nothing worked so far.
Works perfect with DirectX11
DirectX12 gives you infrequent wrongly rendered textures. DirectX11 does not.
Just choose DirectX11 on the start of the game, and everything works fine
Limited TDP to 7W - this yields a clean 60 FPS at medium-high settings for me, estimated ~3.5-4 hours of battery life.
At the end of a race when it cut to the paddock, all of the textures were completely garbled. This is only on-screen for about a second at the end of a race.
Aspect ratio setting is broken. Auto (default) sets it to 16:9, 16:10 sets it to 16:9, and 16:9 sets it to the correct 16:10. This is all at native resolution.
Only a couple of issues but ran pretty easily with minimal to no tweaking.
If you have G29 you need to use older version of proton. For some reason newer proton versions do not have force feedback for G29
Ótimo desempenho. Não tive problemas.
Funcionou sem problemas, apenas instalei, configurei os gráficos de acordo com as minhas preferências e joguei. Recomendo quando terminar de configurar os gráficos, que você reinicie o jogo.
Graphical artifacts are annoying but not distracting during the race. My game only froze during nighttime sessions (Bahrain Quali & Race).
Certain effects and advertisements on and around the track had some texture warping and black triangles, respectively
The game occasionally froze, but the game always recovered from it (no crashes)
Downgrading Proton from the current version to 5.13-6 was a necessity for me. If I change only that setting, the game will immediately crash without opening. I did not test older versions of Proton, but Neither 6.3-8 nor 'experimental' worked.
Overall, I would recommend running this game on DX11, where the game runs very well.
From my experience, there's increased input lag on DX12. This wasn't the case on DX11.
Additionally, DX12 also has issues with rendering some characters properly. Again, this wasn't a problem with DX11.
It's important to add that, for whatever reason, enabling controller steam input on my dualshock 4 doesn't support vibration on both DX11 and DX12.
Although the case, unlike on Windows, for whatever reason on Linux my dualshock 4 is supported without having to enable steam input, not to mention that vibration works flawlessly.
It plays nicely out of the box.
If you try to run this game with only one screen it would not have any problems, so yeah maybe the problem it's my setup
Changing the output monitor doesn't change anything.
There were times were my keyboard inputs were held on a tad bit longer than I physically pressed.
I run a double monitor setup and for some reason I encounter a heck ton of stutters however if I turn off one of the displays it runs okay.
It would crash sometimes when I alt+tab
Team pitwall textures missing and characters looked neon.
Needed to enable playstation controller support.
Turn 2 or 3 Austria was quite slow GFX wise.
Works almost perfectly out of the box. The only issue I'd faced was few minor artifacts (black triangles on character and object models).
Minor artifacts (random black triangles) were observed on character and track models with the default Proton version that the game used (forgot which one), but were completely absent when using newer Proton versions or Proton GE.
Very few crashes (3 in total, out of 186.8 hours of gameplay) were encountered, but all 3 of these were when I Alt + Tabbed out of the game and came back.
It runs well with DirectX 11 and the "PROTON_USE_SECCOMP=1 %command%" launch options as mentioned in other posts.
I have to alt-tab to an other app and back again to fix a framerate or performance issue. The game is slow until I do that.
The game has several bugs, but they are not related to Linux. My friend has these issues in Windows too:
- Infrequent crashes (I had 1 crash so far in 3 hours of playing - my friend had 1 crash too in the same timeframe)
- Occasional issues connecting the gamepad. Restarting the game fixes this. My friend has the same issue with his steering wheel and/or pedals in Windows.
Game doesn't even start
Appears as running for a few seconds but nothing, doesn't boot. Tried rebooting, changing proton version, reinstalling steam, reinstalling the whole OS. Nothing
The game doesn't start at all. Tried different launch options and reinstalling proton.
Seems to work great
Expanded RAM by creating a Swap File
Run F1 2020 two days prior on the same machine using Win10. After switching to Manjaro I had to specify a Swap File (which was strangely not created at installation).
Had to use windowed border less to change my resolution
Couldn't change the resolution while I was in fullscreen, but with the borderless window everything worked
Works like a dream
Had to use Proton 6.3-5, didn't have much luck with GE. Feels as good as running on Windows though.
DirectX 11 runs out of the box
Some random crashes with DX12
Except the email-problem all went fine.
Whenlogging int Racnet,The games soen't regonize my mail adress as a correct mail address. Hence I can't log into racenet.
Rund properly only with DX1, the DX12 version has artefacts.
Lower graphic setup to avoid lags
Firstly, errored out at EGO Dumper, got that solved, then it didn't work after a reboot.
Tested both DX11, and DX12 mode
Ran perfectly out of the box. Didn't experience any issues at all. Frame rate great, no stutter, no issues with anything at all!
Runs perfectly out of the box.
Windowing might cause fps drop but its also a problem in windows.
When changing graphical settings while playing the game became unplayable, I suggest changing them in the main menu as it still gives the same problem but not as long.
I could only run it on Proton 5.13-6, with 'PROTON_LOG=1 PROTON_USE_SECCOMP=1 %command%' as launch options in Steam.
Latest Proton release. Didn't notice any visible glitches while playing and was able to finish an entire season without issues. Flawless.
Overall great experience minimal issues similar fps to windows
I noticed a very tad of artifacting and a little less fps.
Captured my thrustmaster tmx good and ran smoothly would recommend
Little artifacts on characters' faces
