The game doesn't start.
I tried to change to every major proton release, but none of it helped. The default, Proton 7, Proron 6 and Proton 4. Borked.
It's working out of the box, don't touch the prefix, leave it on the default, because it could corrupt the game.
It was a good experience
Sometimes it loads the environment slowly
Not sure, maybe just my hardware is old, but I'm suspicious.
It runs really well out of the box, with small performance issues, but overall it's a really nice experience on Linux.
Really, really slight performance issues. It runs a little slower than on Windows.
It's nice to see a AAA game running out of the box on Linux.
Little FPS drops on some tracks
One time it crashed when I did time trial first instead of quick race
Overall it's a good enough experience
Borked even with DX 11
I can't launch the game even with DirectX 11, not only not with DirectX 12. I tried Proton Experimental and Proton 7, but nothing worked so far.
If DirectX11 is being used after a few minutes launching the game will stop loading textures and will crash with error "Out of memory" or something like that. I disabled Anti-Aliasing too.
Only when freezing
It didn't load the cloud save
Serious FPS drops even on very low graphical settings
Even after disabled DirectX 11 and after I was using DirectX10 the game suddenly freezed. However, the textures not loading bug went away.
Maybe it was my VPN's fault or Rockstar Servers aren't good, but I got kicked out from online games every 5 or 10 minutes when the game didn't crash.
Rockstar Games is a big shame of the game industry
Amazing experience, I love it
Shortly after grabbing it free from Steam via 25th Anniversary I've tested it and I've absolutely loved it! Runs perfectly well, smooth, not a tiny bit of lagging anywhere. Great.
It runs, but not well. Basically unplayable on Linux.
FPS barely hit 20 even on medium settings.
When I was bugging around with anti-aliasing I've noticed while changing between FXAA, FSR and TAA there was a one tiny moment the game was running just fine, as it should on 60 FPS. However, I've kept changing back and forth, so the issue has come back.
Borked
Doesn't work at all. Tried both Proton 8 and Proton Experimental. I could launch it via system Wine, but it crashed as soon as it started loading.
Adding arguments to Gnome Disks to automatically mount my external NTFS drive in the right way (required to run properly, otherwise you get the error "you don't own the prefix" at every game on external NTFS drives.
https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/wiki/Using-a-NTFS-disk-with-Linux-and-Windows
The arguments were the followings: ```nosuid,nodev,nofail,x-gvfs-show,x-gvfs-name=[REDACTED],uid=1000,gid=1000,rw,user,exec,umask=000 0 0
FPS drops all along the gameplay
Can't launch
Tried with Proton 6.3-8, Proton 7.0-2 and Proton Experimental. Nothing worked.
I am especially glad of this game running this well on my system. It runs just like on Windows.
Runs really well
I was suprised how good it runs. Really smooth, very high FPS.
Launching the game takes a whole lot of time
Borked. Tried both Experimental and 8
Tried Proton 8, Experimental and 7, nothing worked.
Borked.
Nothing worked, can't launch - Borked
Tried Proton Experimental and Proton 7 and the default options. Nothing worked. Can't launch.
It's sad nothing worked
Enjoyable when not using a steering wheel.
Unplayable with Logitech G29, the sad part is, it doesn't seem to work on Windows either.
-force-vulkan
Only when playing together with friends, significant FPS drops, barely playable.
The overall experience in multiplayer was great, but when I was playing together with my friends in squads the game have become unplayable.
The thing co-op does not work will make a lot of people angry. But one who does not care and only wants to play alone, will enjoy it.
Forcing to use vulkan is a requirement
Without -force-vulkan
it doesn't work, there are significant graphical bugs, performance issues, and textures together with the world do not load correctly.
Still unplayable with non-native version
-force-vulkan
The game does not show a sign of graphical issues anymore, but it does still crash after a few minutes in-game. It detects freezing while launching.
