Works great out of the box! Would absolutely recommend!
Some stuttering at launch, performance stabilizes after 10-20 seconds or so.
After playing for a few hours I am yet to encounter any kind of issue with the game other than some stuttering right after launching the game.
Works out of the box
Plays perfectly on steam deck, I encountered no issues while playing.
Framerate capped at 30fps to lower the fan noise. 40fps/40hz also works but the fan is significantly louder.
Game can be played from start to finish on Steam Deck through Proton with little to no issues, although at lowest graphics settings with framerate set to 30fps/40fps.
I experience a few frame drops while playing. One time I had to restart the game due to game falling down to single digit fps, but everything seemed to work fine once again after a restart.
There are a few bugs here and there, and some occasional frame drops, but despite all of that the game works pretty well on linux.
Delayed audio and issues with resolution and mouse input make the game hard to play competitively.
Audio is noticably out of sync with most of the sounds in game.
Setting game to anything but native resolution fullscreen causes massive issues with mouse controls, making the game unplayable.
If resolution wasn't set to native with fullscreen the mouse was completely broken, making it possible to move either only horizontally, or vertically and nothing inbetween, rendering the game unplayable.
Occasional freezes when changing resolution when in game.
No problems with multiplayer, was able to play without any issues.
Vanilla game works pretty much the same as it does on Windows, I didn't experience any major issues while playing.
Most mods seem to work fine too with the exception being fsr3 framegen mods, which I could not get to work properly, not matter which mod I tried, I always had issues either with the framegen itself, or DLSS causing crashes once framegen started to work.
The game is very playable on Linux, even with mods, but I might just stick with playing it on windows for the framegen.
Good experience out of the box.
Big fps dip when loading into a new scene/map, usually lasts a few seconds, goes back to stable 60fps afterwards.
Multiplayer works perfectly so far.
Works great with steam's default settings, there are some fps dips when loading/changing maps but they usually last a few seconds and then everything works smoothly. The only issue I had was with ubisoft's client, it doesn't remember your password so you have to log in every time you launch the game.
Playable on Linux
Some areas in the game cause fps drops, especially some stages at the end of the game.
Occasional crashes happening at random. This seems to happen when playing on Windows as well.
Despite the fps drops in some areas, the game can be completely played from start to finish on Linux.
Works flawlessly on Steam Deck
Works flawlessly on the steam deck. Before the game starts there's a window that lets you pick a resolution, for that you might need to use the touch screen on default config.
Works perfectly from start to finish.
Entire game can be played through on steam deck without any issues.
works ootb
5W TDP Limit
Works perfectly on linux and steam deck
The game crashes/closes every 10 minutes or so after launching.
Game itself work fine for the first 10 minutes, but then crashes. While it is playable, I don't think I can recommend playing it on Linux as it is right now.
r2modman
Changing the game from windowed borderless to fullscreen causes a crash
Perfectly playable on Linux with no tinkering needed at all. Mods work perfectly as well.
Perfect out of the box.
Runs exactly like it should. Only minor problem would be the lack of gamepad support, but the default layout does have right trackpad bound to work as a mouse, which together with touchscreen covers every single input a game like this would need. Absolute joy to play on steam deck! 100% both the base game and DLC and did not experience a single issue.
Works perfectly fine on Linux
After playing for a bit I found no issues with the game. The only annoyance I found is that the game picks wrong audio device by default, making you have to change it every time you start the game, but once that's done, it's working perfectly.
Installed OpenAL to fix missing sounds
By default only cutscenes have audio. The fix is to install OpenAL through protontricks.
I had a lot of trouble getting this game to detect my xbox controller. What finally made it playable with a gamepad was changing proton to 6.3-8 as well as completely disabling steam input.
Game works great on Linux, but sound and gamepad support are broken by default. The fix is to install OpenAL through protontricks to get the sound to work nicely and disabling steam input + changing proton to 6.3-8 to get gamepad to work. Your results may vary, but this is what worked for me and so far I haven't had any other issues with the game.
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8.dll=n,b" %command%
protontricks 524220 vcrun2015 dinput8
The game can be completely played through without any tinkering, however if you want to install mods (such as FAR), you might need to set launch options and install some things with protontricks. I managed to get FAR (version 0.7.0.14) to work, but the game got significantly heavier on my GPU when running it, didn't test if the same issue happens on Windows.
Very rare disconnects from the lobbies
Game runs great with proton. When playing with native version I couldn't connect to friends playing on windows so I would recommend switching to proton if you plan on playing with other people.
PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 %command%
After playing a little bit over 17 hours I haven't encountered a single crash. There were some bugs but I don't think they are related to proton or playing on linux.
You can't change your fullscreen resolution in game so use gamescope if you need to do that.
Throughout my playthrough, my game has hanged a few times, requiring a force close.
The game works alright, at least on nvidia cards.
Switching between virtual desktops and then returning to the game causes a freeze.
Game's framerate drops to 1-2fps with resolutions higher than 1080p.
Occasional crashes when changing resolutions in settings.
Game doesn't launch with normal proton, works decently with proton-ge. Can be played from start to finish on Linux, although the performance is not the best.
Perfect out of the box
Runs exactly the same way it does on windows. After playing for a few hours I found no issues.
Plays great!
Game is very playable on Linux.
There are some occasional stutters here and there, in addition fullscreen needs to be enabled every time you start the game (not sure if it's a Linux issue).
Great experience ootb
Game runs great from start to finish, just like it would on Windows.
Installed silent patch and licensed music patch
Default layout caused my right trackpad to vibrate very loudly, changing it to right joystick fixed the issue.
TDP capped at 7 watts to lower the fan noise.
Can be played through on the deck from start to finish without any major issues. I would recommend some mods like Silent Patch, but it's not needed for the game to work.
Installed silent patch as well as restoration patches.
Default config caused my right trackpad vibrations to be very loud, changing it's behaviour to joystick fixed the issue.
TDP limited to 10W to lower the fan noise for the cost of very minor stutters in some places.
Right trackpad vibrations were very loud with the default settings, remapping the trackpad fixes the issue.
I've played the game on steam deck from start to finish with little to no issues.
Game works straight out of the box without any patches, but I would recommend getting them for better experience.
Installed Licensed Music Restoration Patch and Highres Patch.
After playing over 30 hours I did not experience a single crash or bug. Works like a native game. I used proton-ge from the start so I had no issues with cutscene audio.
Game works great so far.
Opening steam overlay can rarely cause the game to crash.
Played a bit over 10 hours, and so far I had not noticed any major issues, but my game did crash once or twice when I was trying to open steam overlay (with shift+tab). Other than that the game is working pretty much the same as it would on windows.
40Hz/FPS Limit, Medium/High In-Game Graphics, 12W TDP Limit, 1200MHz GPU Clock, 1024x576 resolution + FSR upscaling.
Game works great on the deck, but the battery life is not too long when left uncapped. With my settings I managed to extend my play session and significantly lower the fan noise at the cost of occasional small stutters in certain areas of Kamurocho.
Works perfectly in stable 60fps.
On rare occasions, after suspending and later resuming the steam deck, game would resume with crackling sounds.
Played both in handheld mode and plugged into the TV, handheld works perfectly in steam deck's natvie resolution, while TV had to be upscaled from steam deck's resolution with FSR. Both worked in perfect 60fps.
Great on deck.
Framerate capped at 30fps.
Played through the entire game on steam deck, works great at 30fps.
