FPS limit to 40
Seems like an interesting game! Looking forward to playing more! Videos wouldn't play with the default Proton version. Switching to GE 9.27 fixed it. I tried experimental like other people suggested but it didn't work either.
The dev seems to be aware of the issue and is trying to fix it.
Once changing to Proton Experimental the Deck controls worked correctly. Without that the controls don't work with the official layout.
Works great on Proton Experimental. The official controller layout doesn't work at all with the default Proton version. It doesn't recognize the Steam Deck inputs as a controller. There are custom layouts that work well but you're also missing out on UI changes to button prompts, radial menus, and changes to the menu that make it easier for controller navigation.
Steam Cloud saves don't sync properly. Using WinSCP to manually copy the save file from c:\users{user}\Documents\MGR\SaveData to /home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/235460/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/MGR/SaveData worked. It's annoying but this doesn't seem to be an issue with the Steam Deck or proton. It looks like this same issue happens between Windows PCs as well. Reverse the direction when going from Deck to Windows.
Set Right back buttons to X/Y with turbo on
Steam Cloud saves don't work.
If you're only playing on Deck and don't care about transfering saves to Windows, it's great. Manually copying saves from/to Windows works fine but it's annoying.
Changed resolution to 960x600. Switched to windowed mode.
In Steam Deck performance options set frame limit to 40 FPS(40 Hz), turned on half rate shading, set TDP limit to 9, set GPU clock to 600 MHz. Turned FSR on with sharpness 2.
Runs amazingly well with default settings. Battery life was a little underwhelming with default settings, about 2 hours, but with some adjustments I now get around 4.
No changes are needed for the game to run well but would definitely tinker a bit for better battery life.
It just works
I expected that it would run well on my laptop given it's a pretty old game and runs great on my Steamdeck too. Installed and ran without any issues. Didn't really play much but this was more of an experiment just to see if it would run.
Ran just fine my Framwork Laptop 13 Intel 12th gen on Kubuntu 24.04 LTS.
Not much to say. Works flawlessly with Steam Play.
It just works! Turn on Steam Play and go!
Runs great! No issues so far. The game would only launch in DirectX8 mode but I don't think that's Deck specific.
Launch protontricks, select Sky SC, select default winprefix, install Windows DLL. Install amstream, quartz, and lavfilters. Videos didn't work without this.
Videos wouldn't play due to missing codecs.
Use protontricks to install lavfilters, amstream, and quartz.
Back grip R1 and R2 set to toggle B and R2 to skip through dialogue and toggle turbo.
Lowered TDP to 6. Get about 5 hours on battery.
Videos don't play without installing the missing DLLs with protontricks
Overall it runs well. Had the same issues as Sky SC but the fix is the same as well. Runs perfectly after installing missing DLLs.
