Unable to launch the game in the beginning. Switching back to Proton 7 and launching with DX8 version works.

Great game!
No videos
Worked perfectly apart than videos.

Launch protontricks, select Sky 3rd, select default winprefix, install Windows DLL. Install amstream, quartz, and lavfilters. All cutscenes seemed to work accurately with this fix
Added the Evo voice mod pack on top of that, works like a charm on deck. Highly recommended to use this for full voice acting for all dialogs in the game.

Black Screen on config option both with DX9 and 8, Proton Version doesn't make a difference
If you hit enter on the DX8 config black screen it launches the game and allows launching from normal DX8 play option, however you need to edit config file in steamapps/compatdata/436670/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Saved Games/FALCOM/ED_SORA3/ to add your resolution etc, unfortunately some options are bit of a mystery to what number you need to enable them, never had this issue with FC or SC
Launch protontricks, select Sky 3rd, select default winprefix, install Windows DLL. Install amstream, quartz, and lavfilters. This fixes any issues with cutscenes lagging.

Use protontricks to install lavfilters, amstream, and quartz.
Back grip R1 and R2 set to toggle B and R2 to skip through dialogue and toggle turbo.
Lowered TDP to 6. Get about 5 hours on battery.
Videos don't play without installing the missing DLLs with protontricks
Overall it runs well. Had the same issues as Sky SC but the fix is the same as well. Runs perfectly after installing missing DLLs.

Same relatively minor issues as the two games preceding it; overall a very good experience on the Deck
For me the default text size was too small, but you can turn on bigger text in the Controller Layout Tool that the game comes with which fixes this.
Occasional skipping, very rare.
There's one specific text choice near the end of the game which doesn't seem to work with controller, I had to use touchpad input to select it. Like with the other two games, also had issues with the d-pad on the Deck itself, and on a separate controller when docked, not getting picked up sometimes.
A couple other issues to note which I didn't have space to in previous sections. These are true for the previous two games in the series as well:
- Have to select resolution from the Controller Layout Tool which doesn't accept input from a gamepad. Not a huge deal but a bit of a pain if you're switching between playing docked/portable and would've been nice for these settings to be in the game proper.
- Animated cutscenes run at half-speed. There are even less of these in this one than in previous games, so it's a minor issue.
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8=n,b" %command%
Directx 9 version did not worked for me, but with DX8 I haven't any problem
Use the launch options to make the voice acting mod to work
Videos not working
Videos don't seem to work, but if you play those on windows, gameplay works fine.
In chapter 4, when the boss used a specific move the game would crash 100% of the time. This apparently happens on Windows as well.
To fix this you should run the game in DirectX 8 mode for that specific fight.
Had to install lavfilters through protontricks to make FMVS's work.

Early report, I just played for about 2 hours (the prologue). And didn't have any problem with proton experimental.
Unlike with Sky Fc and Sky Sc I didn't have any major problem with vanilla proton. Maps rendered correctly. And the FMV worked fine.
But there was an issue with the controller. The game didn't register the turbo button, normally map to R2. I solved it by switching to proton experimental. This could not be a major issue, you can also use turbo with the keyboard, and will not affect keyboard + mouse users. I was using an Xbox One controller + Xbox controller dongle+ xow drivers, and steam input.

Works perfectly out of the box
Did pretty much everything in the game you can do in one playthrough excluding harder difficulties and didn't run into any issues with version 7.0-2.

To make all videos playable and at full speed. Run command in terminal:
WINEPREFIX="(Steam-folder)/steamapps/compatdata/436670/pfx/" winetricks lavfilters amstream quartz
The logo and opening .avi videos may take a few extra seconds to load. If using the above winetricks commands with proton-5.0-10. Very minor and should not detract much from the experience.
I played the game from start to finish. QED.

6.20-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
Proton-6.20-GE-1 with quartz lavfilters
Occasionally a few artifacts may appear during some particle effects
Opening an entry in the monster guide caused some minor slowdowns
Installing quartz and lavfilters via
protontricks 436670 quartz lavfilters
only makes the logo and intro play at normal speed. The few videos in-between are not played and the ending video is at half speed.
Game would not start with a newer version of GloriousEggroll.

Proton-6.15-GE-2
Artifacts in videos
Videos with Proton 6.3-6 did not play. Videos with Proton-6.15-GE-2 played very slowly and with artifacts
As with Trails in the Sky SC; game would suffer from starting but staying in a fully minimized window; being unplayable
Full playthrough with a steam controller. I used Proton 4.11-13 in order to install codecs for movie playback. What I did to get everything working was...
Run the game once so a prefix is created.
Run protontricks 436670 directshow in terminal to get the start logo to work.
Download and install LAVFilter codecs to the prefix (make sure to check the game installation folder location). On my PC the terminal command was wget https://github.com/Nevcairiel/LAVFilters/releases/download/0.74.1/LAVFilters-0.74.1-Installer.exe && WINEPREFIX=/mnt/extra/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/436670/pfx wine LAVFilters-0.74.1-Installer.exe
No problem observed.
With proton 5.0-9 to be able to watch all the videos, credits, logo, etc you'll need to install lavfilters into your game prefix(.steam/xyz/steamapps/compatdata/436670/pfx) and you'll also have to use protontricks/winetricks to download directshow(protontricks 436670 directshow). After that, type winecfg on the terminal and add winegstreamer -> edit -> disable under the libraries tab
Install LAV Filters from https://github.com/Nevcairiel/LAVFilters/releases/download/0.74.1/LAVFilters-0.74.1-Installer.exe
Performs well - disable FMVs
Game would crash when alt tabbed
Cutscenes don't play
Game locked up near the end because I had FMVs turned on and they couldn't play.
Almost perfect, except that there is no videos. Doesn't matter, you can watch from game folder, and they don't add much to the game anyway.

FMVs don't work, and the game softlocked for me at the end of the airship section at the beginning, where an FMV would play. If movie playback is disabled in the configuration program, then the performance is basically perfect.

Videos don't play, so you have to press a key on startup (black screen) to skip the intro. After this, it runs perfectly. Didn't need to tweak anything.
Areas load much faster - some sort of pause/temporary freezing issue that occurred on Windows 7 is gone. Much more pleasant when going inside lots of houses. So far I would actually consider it a slight upgrade to running natively.

No movies. Watch them from game folder

no sound and the graphics don't show properly
