Replace SDL2.dll file with the one from the Quake remaster
Frequent crashes with default SDL2.dll file, infrequent crashes when file is replaced.
Using standard proton should work when launching directly from Steam.
The frame rate is capped to your monitor's refresh rate. It'll keep a steady enough frame rate with Proton GE for that to not be an issue.

The game would not launch when running with proton. Using Wine/Wine GE fixed this issue.

White flashing pixels occasionally appear on surfaces.
The fog in this game does not get along with Proton.
As this game is very new and in early access, it's not too well optimized and gets lower frames than you'd expect. Proton GE helps with this.
The game occasionally freezes when clicking something with an E key popup, likely an Early access issue.
All issues will likely be fixed with time.

You need to switch the Proton version to 7.0-6 when launching it so that it can install the EA app. You can switch versions after that.
Mouse did not appear in menus
New Blood always makes sure their Windows builds work well on proton.
There's one area at the start of the game when FPS drops between 10 and 30. This never happened again.
