For me, the game installed and ran with no tweaks required for anything. It may as well be native.
These issues are with the game itself and players on Windows experience it too, so wait for game patches. Sometimes (particularly after a fresh boot) I can get 60FPS with maximum detail settings, others it's more like 30.
They are likely a result of the game still having some bugs, but I'm not entirely sure. They've been few and far between and most long gameplay sessions don't experience crashing.
To be fair, I immediately changed to Proton Experimental when first launching the game. I've actually not tried with a stable release of Proton. I've got nearly 20 hours in the game and that number is going to keep going up.
My setup did not require any tweaking. It installed and played flawlessly immediately after installation.
As of this report, I am using Proton 6.1 GE-2, but the game ran just as well with Proton 5.13-6.
As others have stated, use "PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60" (without quotations) in your Steam launch arguments to resolve audio crackling.
The game ran immediatly after installation without tweaking needed for anything, using Proton 7.0-4.

The game previously had issues with audio stuttering and skipping with older versions of Proton, requiring a Steam launch command (PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 for those interested). This is no longer required.
In /steamapps/compatdata/367500/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/CAPCOM/DRAGONS DOGMA DARK ARISEN/ is a file called config.ini, inside we want to change the line "Stereo=OFF" to "Stereo=ON".
This occurred with Proton-GE, not with Valve-issued Proton. May be related to ultrawide display.
As is, the game worked fine for me right from install, after switching to Valve's Proton instead of Proton-GE. In order to use my ultrawide resolution correctly, a patch was needed. The aforementioned config file change is needed for this to work. I downloaded Aspect Ratio Fix by Kaldaien and Presented by Sands of Time Team from Nexus Mods (https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma/mods/102) and extracted the contents of the downloaded archive to the game's installation directory. I did not need to run Winecfg or add any library overrides, but I did need to remove the PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 launch argument for it to work.
It's hard to say since other people report perfect performance with no other tweaks, but in my case the game is unplayable.
The sound didn't work past the Bethesda logo when launching the game. Installing FAudio solved the issue.
The frame rate was horrible, my estimate is less than 10 frames per second. On Windows, I was able to run the game at a very steady (and limited, using NVIDIA's control panel) 90 frames per second, with iPresentInterval set to 0. I have yet to find a solution to this issue - changing graphics settings, Proton version, or runner within Lutris didn't help.
Once the tweaking is taken care of, the game will run fine.
I resolved this issue by installing FAudio. Install instructions should be searched for, as including them here would take up too much room.
Window and borderless window cause significant performance issues.
The game seems to have issues with high shadow and lighting quality settings (set both to medium to resolve), and the game has frame rate issues when not running in proper fullscreen mode (use fullscreen mode to resolve).
Works well when you stick to standard Valve Proton releases.
I've discovered as of late that using a GloriousEggroll version of Proton would cause stuttering and other performance issues. Using a standard Valve release of Proton results in normal gameplay with performance I'd expect from my hardware. I'm currently using Proton 6.3-7.
Furthermore, it's good practice to quit the game to the main menu, and then to desktop rather than directly to desktop as this can cause poor performance the next time the game is run, for reasons I'm not really sure about. If this happens, you may need to reboot entirely so I wondered if it's a memory leak issue, but I can't know for sure.
Also, don't use too many Steam launch arguments - I've found that if too many are used (sometimes even just two), the game will throw a "Free trial has ended" error and you won't be able to play until you remove all launch arguments and start again.
Installed and ran with no required tweaking and no issues. Using Proton GE 5.9.
The game was easy to install and runs very well in my case.
Mouse camera control was jerky. Initial workaround was to connect a controller and play that way, but I managed to solve the issue by upgrading from Proton 5.0.6 to Proton 5.6 GE-2.
I am using Proton 6.21-GE-1. Performance is exactly what I'd expect from my hardware, that being very smooth with no stuttering at all. It has been a seamless experience.
Turn off engine multithreading if the game crashes occasionally.
The recent 22GB patch caused the game to not launch. To fix this, use either Proton 5.0-7 Alyx or Proton GE 5.9-6-ST.
It works fine, runs as it should, but occasionally crashes when launching, at least for me.
Sometimes crashes when launching for the first time and landing on the main menu. Usually works when I start the game again. Doesn't happen terribly often, maybe once for every 10 launches.
I can only get the game running in a window. If I maximize the window, the screen goes black, but if I return it to a smaller window, everything works fine. Similar things if I resize the window; making it bigger or smaller made the game window go black, but I was able to solve it by maximizing and restoring the window down again. Fullscreen in the game's options doesn't work.
It works fine, aside from the lack of cutscenes. If you're like me, this is not a problem.
Cutscenes don't play, they're simply skipped. I suspect that it's a codec issue.
Other reports suggested that it works as of Proton 7.0-4, but I switched to Experimental just in case.

In standard maps without any ongoing heavy physics, the game runs solidly over 100FPS on my configuration (I don't know the exact numbers). I did not need to do any further tweaking, and it runs great with Valve's standard Proton as well as Proton-GE.
Ran well on Linux for a long time, and continues to do so. It may even perform better than it typically does on Windows.
The launcher likes to pop up in front of other windows. I just close or minimize it, it's fine.
If you have an NVIDIA RTX card, the native Linux version has graphical issues. Use Proton to force Steam to run the Windows version.
This is important for the Linux version of the game: when running the game on an NVIDIA RTX card, you will see red outlines around everything. If you force Steam to run the Windows version using Proton, the game will run without any problems.
You may need to change your audio output device from "default" to either Pulse or your actual audio device in Warframe's settings, or else you won't hear any sound.
For me, the game crashes without a controller connected. There are reports of people being able to fix it by installing xboxdrv (sudo apt install xboxdrv) then (xboxdrv -d) but this hasn't worked for me, so I just keep a controller connected to my PC at all times.
When using the default version of Proton that comes with Steam (it happened with 5.0-6, I don't know if it still happens with newer versions), the launcher may crash before you can accept the game's EULA. Downgrade a version of Proton, or use Proton GE to get around it. Once the EULA has been accepted, you can return to the version of Proton you had before.

In the past, installing the game was a little tricky with the launcher crashing before the game could launch, but as the game and Proton are now, it works out of the box as if the game were Linux-native.
