Tried this a while back and it didn't work at all, but seems to work now. Without the launch option it launches in black screen though.
This game should IMHO not be listed as natively supporting Linux
This game claims to natively support Linux. The game itself does this without any issues.
Out of the 4 DLCs only 2 ("Extremism" and "Clones and Drones") claim to natively support Linux. Out of these 0 actually do. All 4 DLC install "successfully" install without any (apparent) issues. In-game however, only 1 ("Electioneering") of them actually works. Oddly enough, the one that works claims to only support Windows and macOS natively.
I have tried running it with Proton Experimental, which seems to fix the problems with the DLCs, however it causes all menu texts to entirely disappear, which makes the game unplayable.
TL;DR:
If you want to…
…only play the base game and the "Electioneering" DLC: Go ahead, it works fine.
…play with the other DLCs: Doesn't work natively or with Proton Experimental.
Works out of the box
Light seemed borked sometimes after the recent update. May have been a general issue though, as it stopped happening since.
Features the usual Bethesda level of bugs, but no additional Linux related issues I noticed.
Works
I have played this game for over 600 hours on various distros over the years. It always worked fine out of the box without any issues.
Works perfectly!
Ok, with occasional connectivity issues. Same on Windows though.
