Should work out of the box, no tweaking was necessary. Did make sure to run the install option to install easy anti cheat.
Multiplayer seemed to work fine, no tweaks necessary.
Straight forward, works with whatever easy anti cheat they are using at the time of this report.
Worked with Proton Experimental. Tried using GE-Proton9-22 and it kept crashing.
There seems to be an issue as of now when trying to click "Sign in to Playstation" on the main menu. It's an error that will say "Failed to load PC SDK" , or something similar. Not sure why that is, but prevents being able to sign in. Aside from that, works phenomenal!
There is a white border around the screen when in full screen
Frequent game crashes, especially when changing graphical settings.
There is an-going github issue ticket here: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/7486 , please refer to that. Started with GE-8-30 but I could not get past initial setup screens without crashing. I switched to "Proton Hotfix" compatibility and I got past the tutorial with that, and then switched to Glorious Eggroll (GE) 8.30 .
Straight forward setup and overall stable
Crashed only twice and never again since
It did crash twice while using the invictus mod , but never on the base game. But it only crashed those two times even with the mods, and never again since. The crash did show the paradox crash report screen, not sure if they were caused by some proton issue or just some weird unique bug from mods alone.
Aside from that no problems whatsoever! Just set your Proton version (8.0-2) , install and play.
As of v1.1.4.17949 , Multiplayer does not work using experimental nor 8.0-2
As of v1.1.4.17949 , Multiplayer does not work using Proton experimental nor 8.0-2 . There are threads on the Taleworlds forums from other users reporting the issue.
EAC gives an error about "Failed to create IGameClient instance", it'll drop you from the any server with Anti-cheat enabled.
I have not tried what others have posted, with the copying of some sha1 keys or w/e. Felt a little ridiculous. Given the state of dev support of the game, one can only hope that the devs will enable the linux/proton supported EAC.
protontricks 244850 --force -q dotnet48
There can be frequent crashes during random periods in Multiplayer. It's possible to crash multiple times in a row and then it suddenly stops. Othertimes, it's possible to not crash at all after hours.
Recommend strongly to install dotnet48 via protontricks. Otherwise audio will clip, and the amount of crashing tends to be worse without it, such as crashing while loading into an MP server. That stopped with dotnet48 installed via protontricks.
Ran just like normal, MP included and was able to play with windows players.
- When it shows whose turn it is, the font is almost italic like.
- Lobby names also have the same font issue as above.
With the frequent gpu crashes (AMDGPU), you might have a much better chance with their linux client.
- Ok previously I made a report that it was minor for just text in the game. The text still seems italicized for the turn cards at the top
- The text in the multiplayer lobby also looks scratchy and italic like as the above p[oint.
- After 10 mins of gameplay, the game will crash the GPU (i.e screen goes black and then comes back up) but there will be artifacts everywhere all over the screen
After 10 minutes of just having the game running, either in the menu or actually playing , my screen will go black and it will then come back up but with pixel artifacts everywhere. OS becomes unresponsive, forcing a hard reboot.
Works fine, keep map zoomed out for max speed without stutter
Crackling seems to happen a bit when zoomed in.
There seems to be a stuttering whenever you zoom in the world map. In order to play 100% smooth and to get the fullest speed possible without a stutter, you need to zoom all the way out until you see the entire map board.
Overall it works well, you definitely go through hours of the game play ,but you will want to stay zoomed all the way out to enjoy the best performance.
Native is preferred (even for 1.5 beta), would not recommend proton
For some reason, the proton versions either 8 or experimental, have a weird zoom stutter to where it's unbearable if you are zoomed into the map. The native version does not have this and is exceptionally smooth, essentially WAD. There is one slight problem. The Paradox Launcher seems to crash repeatedly after opening for a few seconds on native, so be sure to hit your mod list quickly and/or the play button. This is not an issue when using Proton.
Crash to Desktop at the logo/splash screen , sometimes get to menu
Game CTD upon launching. Tried swapping between Proton Hotfix, Official Proton 9.2, and Experimental and still the same issue. Sometimes I can get to the main menu but when I hit Enter, it will crash there too.
Disable Cloud Sync and Steam overlay until Devs say otherwise, or you will CTD constantly.
Network instability in MP. Constant drops or connection to server lost.
Devs have confirmed there is an overlay issue that contributes to crashes when launching. Disable Cloud Save and Steam Overlay when playing the game.
