EAC error on startup, like the other reviews
EAC error and shutdown
EAC still doesn't work
The game starts with the generic EAC initilization error.
Still hoping OWI enables this game to work with proton just like Squad
EasyAntiCheat Error
Online play doesn't work at all.
EAC - no multiplayer
The game runs without an issue. I was hopeful with the Operation Greyhound update that they had "ticked the box" to allow Linux gamers to use EAC. At this point in time they have not, and I get an EAC error on startup. I expect this will eventually change seeing as Squad (owned by the same company) works perfectly on Linux.
Refunded it. Still doesn't work on Linux due to anti-cheat.
Performance on my Arc A770 wasn't particularly great in the training menu either.
Anti Cheat is not working
mangohud %command%
You can load into the hangar and firing range, but online play is restricted.
OWI has acquired this game recently, so this may be resolved in the near future... fingers crossed.
EAC gives an error about "Failed to create IGameClient instance", it'll drop you from the any server with Anti-cheat enabled.
I have not tried what others have posted, with the copying of some sha1 keys or w/e. Felt a little ridiculous. Given the state of dev support of the game, one can only hope that the devs will enable the linux/proton supported EAC.
As mentioned in a previous report, we need the correct .eac files to authenticate a connection to servers. Getting the sha1 and etag codes/keys from the Post Scriptum .eac files on windows did not work with authenticating connection with easyanticheat. What I did was copying the text content for the windows version of the .eac.metadata file to the wine version of the .eac.metadata file. Hopefully someone is able to figure it out in the future.
Despite followint the same process that is used for Squad, I was able to run the game without EAC error, but once I connect to a server I get kicked out instantly due to EAC Auth error
Following Squad installation instructions gets you to the point where you don't get an EAC error at startup, but still get you kicked out of any server. As mentioned in a previous report I also think it's a matter of finding the right values to set in EAC metadata file as anything else just works the same
This worked for Squad so i adapted it to try and work for PostScriptum as it is made by the same people https://squadfm.org/#installation-linux-only Here are the differences.
inside the compatdata folder the number folder you want it 736220
insdie the EasyAntiCheat folder the number you want is 282.
thats it, thats all i needed to get this running. Essentially you are FORCING easy anti cheat to use the correct files, by changing to the official steam provided easy anticheat version and then locking changes by making the folders read only. So far everything is running fine on both this and squad for me. I am not sure if it works for other games but i WILL be trying it out.
Happy hunting out there!
so the files provided have some sha1 and etag values that dont match when loading a server with easy anticheat. That said, the GAME is fooled, (so i dont get the easy anticheat warning after the first time you need to create the files for editing) but the servers during validation seem to catch the key miss match. We just need to find the correct signing keys.
so a step forward, editing the user data related to easy anticheat fixes the local check, just not the server side check.
No EAC support still :(
Without EasyAntiCheat not playable
EasyAntiCheat fails at startup.
EAC blocks the game from being able to run
Game boots and gets to the main menu fine. Trying to connect to any server shows an EAC error and won't let you join.
The anti cheat will not let you join the game, please anyone who sees this try to contact them on facebook, don't lazy out so there would be awareness for this and they will see that people want it on linux!
Please contact them, everyone!
Have tried to use the workaround used in Squad to circumvent the initial Failed to start IGameClient error. Sadly joining a Server was not possible and got the error "Anti-Cheat Bad Authentication". This is probably due to the fact, that the *.eac files used are those of Squad. If anyone has those .eac files, you can help here
EAC doesn't load stopping you from joining any servers so wasn't able to experience the actual game.
You can run the training mission just fine didn't get any drops in FPS below 60. Some of the textures loaded slow the first time entering an area but once they are cached there was no issue. EAC doesn't load stopping you from joining any servers so wasn't able to experience the actual game.
EAC not supported and there is no unofficial server, so you only can play training missions.
Only about 20-30 FPS at lowest settings
EAC IS NOT SUPPORTED
So playing on official servers with anti-cheat enabled is currently not possible. Performance wise, I loaded training and played around without any issues.
I have some FPS losses but have not figured out which graphics setting is causing it, because it happens quite randomly.
Does not work. Will never work in Proton because of EAC. Publisher has no interest in a native port or not using EAC.
The game did manage to run at first when I tested it, however, no servers could be found. Most likely has to do with the Anti-cheat software. After second attempt, the game wouldn't launch anymore. Also at the first attempt, sound quality was poor and multiple cracks can be heard.
crashes on first load screen
Can't reach the main menu
Gets to loading screen but crashes at title screen to desktoip
