FromSoft delivers yet another W. Working out of the box without tweaking!
Mixed input support is available, with the option to toggle between MnK and Controller prompts (so no flickering!). Game runs very smoothly, even with settings automatically set to high; maybe a one-off stutter in the opening mission. Did not test multiplayer yet as I haven't unlocked it, but hearsay is that it works fine!
EA has removed support for Linux/Steam Deck as they believe blocking Linux will lead to a decrease in cheaters. LMAO
Game no longer works, and doesn't look like it will again. Fuck EA.
Very fun game with lots of customization that runs great!
The game only supports MnK in menus, you'll need to use them or set up a Steam Input config to get a controller usable in menus and the Garage.
Controller is recommended in actual races for easier maneuverability! Game is very loud by default, so make sure to turn the volume down!
EAC seems to be working fine, played a few hours with no issues.
GE-Proton is needed to get videos to display correctly, apart from that everything works just as you'd expect!
-vulkan
LT full click is alt fire, soft click is scope (toggle). By default the game scopes in 3 times in rapid succession making those weapons unusable
OpenGL would consistently crash when the Steam Overlay was opened. Switching to Vulkan fixes this.
Runs about as well compared to my Windows install. Locked 75hz
Playing with a controller isn't exactly normal but incredibly fun (you need a gyro to be remotely competitive). Here's hoping CS2 launches soon :')
EAC screen pops up then doesn't advance.
Support is coming soon, hopefully the wait won't be long.
7 months since last report, it now works!
Enabled new wiggle interaction as I prefer it and find it easier than wiggling left stick.
On first launch audio is very crackly. Once you get to the main menu, restarting fixes it permanently it seems.
0 issues, game performed exactly as normal.
Game easily maintains a smooth 60 FPS, controls feel responsive and everything functions well. There are no specific Steam Deck prompts (it uses default Xbox ones), and the game itself has letterboxing (menus run at 1280x800 and take up the full screen). 0 tinkering is needed, as the game now finally just works! Very rare BHVR W!
Bungie is such a good company!
Destiny2.exe shows up htop, and in game mode the game soft crashes. At the time of writing it's been 72 days since they last acknowledged the Deck at all. No excuse for Bungie to not enable Battleye support at this point.
Still doesn't work, 92 days since they acknowledged the Deck.
No change in behavior as of Season 17 (Haunted). Game crashes. I believe running a custom version of proton you can launch the game, but I would rather not get banned.
tl:dr game still doesn't work, keep complaining to bungie about it
Shocking nobody, game still doesn't work as of Season 19 (Seraph)
With Stadia's demise in about a month, the game will soon be completely unplayable on Linux. Holding out hope for Lightfall but not expecting anything.
With Stadia dead, the game no longer runs on Linux natively.
Game still doesn't work, and I'm doubtful anything will come with Lightfall, even though the Deck has been out for almost a year and there's zero proof of Linux support encouraging more cheat usage. The Stadia build will probably die and never be used again to top it all off.
Deleted the /videos folder
Initially logging into Xbox account can be buggy and needs to be done through Desktop Mode.
Needs a patched mesa driver to fix missing models.
Many graphics are missing and the game cannot properly be played yet. Valve is working on this 'shortly'.
Wasn't kicked from a match and generally didn't seem to lag but it's hard to tell with nearly every graphic missing.
Plagman saying the game will be playable shortly: https://twitter.com/Plagman2/status/1542652084129918976?t=XKQrdCz_fJmIcD1sl1wifg&s=19
Once graphics are fixed the game should be able to run multiplayer and campaign with no issues.
gamemoderun %command%
Delete files in the /videos folder
Set all settings to low
Slight frame drops to ~50 FPS but very playable.
SteamOS Build 20220718.100 (latest beta at the time of writing) updates the mesa drivers so you no longer need to manually update them, and as such the game is playable. I'm unable to test campaign as I don't own it on Steam. I did not test with FSR but will be sure to update my report when I do. Mixed input is supported but icons flash so best to stick with controller only config.
Game runs flawlessly, not one issue!
The game has no controller support afaik, so keyboard layout is necessary for now.
Multiplayer works flawlessly. Steam Overlay works and successfully accepts invites.
Runs surprisingly well, being early access + anti cheat. If performance issues are encountered, turn down your resolution scaling in game.
To make actions easier to access, I'd highly recommend using L4-R5. Gyro for precise aiming, mouse trackpad for quick flicking of the camera.
EAC (EOS) appears to load correctly. No kicks from matches and functions very well.
Consistently hit 40fps (didnt try 60), and after readjusting controls to suit my preferences it ran like a dream.
The HUD resolution is extremely low quality in game, especially character portraits and button prompts.
HUD resolution and strangely low quality textures with everything set to high.
The game seemingly needs an MnK layout as controllers were not detected at all, except for the right stick which made the camera spazz out.
Technically the multiplayer works as of now, but the game is still yet to receive any .so file, and doing a PROTON_LOG shows no mentions of the EAC .dll files being loaded. The game will get borked again, most likely within a week.
With a potential account ban and the anticheat not even loading, wait until Hi-Rez officially adds support, as it's on the way.
Works absolutely flawlessly!
Runs just as good, if not better than it would on Windows.
Despite no official confirmation from the devs, the game has worked flawlessly for over a month!
Aim assist is practically non existent in the game, using mouse for more precision is highly recommended.
A mix of low-medium settings to get an estimated 3 hours of battery. I have yet to do a game performance profile.
In DX11 or DX12 mode some models can have very jagged looking edges.
After letting shaders compile the game is very playable.
The game runs flawlessly after you let shaders compile. Controller glyphs only show up as PlayStation ones for now (assumedly due to the game not having an Xbox version) but does not impact functionality. EAC is the EOS version but seems to load just fine every time. Can play all modes with others without a kick or any errors occuring!
