Install this community shader cache (https://github.com/bcook254/apex-legends-cache) to solve stuttering.
In rare occasions I feel the game a little slow. Nothing very noticable.
Works without problem. (Tried Arena & Battle Royal)
The games works perfectly with some thinkering. Adding the community shader cache and using proton experimental solved all problems that i noticed.
Without it, you will get a lot of stuttering and some frame drops.
Works out of the box. YEAH!
It just works. In some distros it may doesn't detect other media drives. So you may need to save your projects on the same disk. Anyway, other than that it works flawless.
The game runs out of the box, didnt change nothing. Install and play.
Install and play.
-oldgameui
The games works on native, but it has some light render problems. So I recommend to use proton. Use -oldgameui on the launch option if you use proton, otherwise the UI will be missing.
Works out of the box.
The game works perfectly. It's native on Linux, so you don't need proton or tinkering .
The games works fine on native. But, if you want to play online i recommend you to use proton and install ucrtbase.dll.
You need to replace/install a ucrtbase.dll in [~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/231430/pfx/drive_c/windows]. Here are the instruictions: https://gist.github.com/jrbergen/0ce746676c4fbcc2becd6054d1bba2ed
To play with other users online (or atleast, with your friends that are on windows), you need to use proton (i used 7.0-4) and do some tinkering.
Follow the steps and you will get the game running without problem. It works for proton 7.0-4
It works native.
No problems.
The game works perfectly on linux. Native and without any tinkering. The only problem you will encounter in the game are hackers, russians and players that don't rush B.
It just works.
Game works native on Linux. No proton, no tinkering, no problems. Love it. Just install and play.
First Playtest works out of the box with proton!
The game has a lot of bugs. However, this issue isn't Linux related since the game is still on development.
There are some random crashes. When using a torch, when exiting a dungeon, and some others i couldn't point out.
The most problem of online right now are the random crashes. Some crashes like putting the torch out, will make you unable to reconect the same match.
So i managed to play with a friend multiple matches during this playtest. However, the random crashes (at least once per match in my shortexperience), can be very anoying.
Otherwise, the grame works smooth. Hope the devs give more Linux support for proton.
Works great!
I noticed some framedrops on the first match, i guess it has to do with the shaders loading. After the first minutes it goes butter smooth.
Can recommend, everything works.
Start with a fresh prefix (DO NOT install DotNet4) and rename gamedir/Maine/Binaries/Win64/SpeechSynthWrapper.dll to something else.
Had a random crash during gameplay.
Use this guide to login to your microsoft account: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjpNhiv9_FY
Works well for offline. Tinkering needed to play online.
Launch to a black screen.
I tried using proton, proton-experimental, GE-Proton8-25, and some launch commands. Nothing seems to work. It's borked.
Works fine with Proton.
Native doesn't work for some reason. Works flawless with proton.
Game works, use proton
Native doesn't launch, but with proton works fine. Played from start to finish, no problems.
Works right out of the box.
Download & play. No proton needed. I had no issues with the game.
Sometimes, when Henry speaks in "no-cutscene mode" (when you can still walk around while the character speaks), the audio lose some quality and it sounds weird
In some cutescene the character was missplaced, but nothing to worry about
in launch options i put " PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 "
Tried protontricks, experimental and standart proton.
I tried, and failed. My system is up to date but doesn't work. The game launches, however, after a couple warnings of "worng os" and "not supported gpu", it gives me a "dx12 error"
force_vk_vendor=-1 %command%
Delete .steam/steamapps/compatdata/2767030 after installing the game. Then launch the game again as normal.
After two or three matches, the games start to perform really bad. With stutters, and a low average fps count. (i go from 70-90 fps to less than 30). The issue persists until a restart.
The game works and its playable, but needing to restart te game once or twice per hour to fix the stability issue burdens the experience. If that doesn't bother you, then yeah sure, go ahead.
The game is good, and it works MOSTLY fine.
One very rare ocasion the are some audio crackling after loading. Goes away in couple minutes.
In one of the city i noticed that the water texture "wiggles" a little depending on the angle of the camera, very subtle.
This is rare. However it happens to me enough times to die from it. Sometimes the game will ignore my mouse click inputs (right and left click), most of the times it ignores only of them and not both at the same time. When it starts to ignore the input, it doesnt't works again until i restart the game, or exit to the main menu. It happens randomly.
The "ignore mouse click input" is a anoying bug that can get you frustrated. The other one are almost not noticable. Other than that, the games works almost perfect.
protontricks 91900 xact
I needed to use winetricks to install xact for the game. Without tinkering the game will crash.
Install winetricks: https://wiki.winehq.org/Winetricks
Command to install xact with winetricks: WINEPREFIX="[your steam/game directory]/steamapps/compatdata/91900/pfx" winetricks xact
Works out of the box using proton.
Just download, use proton & enjoy crafting acid potions.
Borked - Doesn't even open up.
The game doesn't work. I tried the lasted proton, proton ge & proton experimental.
I found this message on the forum from the developers: "The game uses the library SharpDX to interface with DirectX, and this isn't yet supported by Proton. You can't make it work, I'm sorry :("
I search for any fix for the SharpDX library but i found nothing.
The games works fine. However i want to put a disclaimer here: If you game starts crashing after some hours of gaming, go to Properties-> Installed Files -> Verify Integrity of game files.
This should fix it. This crashing problem is NOT a linux issue. It's a game's bug.
Little lag during playtest. The game has only 1 server in Oregon, so it's expected.
I needed to use Proton Experimental, since the default one wouldn't launch. The game works fine.
Game is native on linux & works without problem.
No tinkering. Works out of the box.
Works perfectly out of the box.
No problems, works perfectly.
