Set to 40hz for less frame drops and better battery.
Very minor crackling in more performance demanding areas.
A model flickering for a second and jagged edges, could just be an issue with the port and not proton though.
Fullscreen will stretch the video to fill a space that is not 16:9, set to windowed mode (iirc it does it on default) for no distortion, just black bars.
For some reason the native linux port that installs when you install it normally, just freezes right at the start during the GrisGris logo despite sound still playing in the background.
DO NOT SELECT "Auto detect gamepads", it'll just freeze the game. Instead, assign the trackpads to mouse (touchscreen doesn't work) and select no on that option at launch. Once the menu loads, navigate to control settings, switch to controller, then the gamepad will work.
Every hour or so the game's FPS suddenly tanks. Played until next autosave, rebooted the game then its fine.
One random crash + the above frame drop issue
Proton also works fine, same FPS drop issue. Saves are in the cloud and work cross platform so not much reason to play with Proton.
Renamed the overlay.dll and overlay64.dll files in the compatdata because of a notification that would not go away. No UPlay overlay anymore.
UPlay my behated. Also it seems like people with NVidia cards are having massive issues.
Works as expected, all issues I had is just GTA: Online being itself.
Runs just as well as it ever does on Windows, all bugs I experienced are also there on Windows.
SteamDeck=1 %command%
BattleEye doesn't work at all even trying to use the Proton BattleEye thing so for now Online is off the table.
Just as buggy as Windows, nothing new.
Its insane how bad the bugs in some of this game are, but I can confirm all that I experienced people have also experienced on native Windows and even consoles.

The launch command helps for framerate, but is not 'necessary' unless you want a better framerate. Weird bugs and inconsistancies are on all platforms and not caused by Proton (ex: low LOD models sometimes take a long time to load in.) I also had some issues where after playing for hours at a time (like 6 or more) my framerate got worse, but I just think thats my computer and not something that should count against it.
Game just doesn't start, nothing shows up no matter what.
Cloud saves with this game are really weird and don't seem to sync properly no matter what personally.
Make sure to install with proton, native linux just doesn't start.
Everything worked just as well as the Windows version.
Cloud saves even work cross platform which is nice given how rare that is.
Steam Cloud sync was weird and a lot older of a save than it should have been and I had to manually grab it from my Windows installation, but otherwise fine.
Works great, constant 120fps on my system.
Launched to menu ONCE, changed a few visual settings, never launched again
I don't know what's wrong with it, but I've tried dozens of Proton versions and launch commands that people have posted here and I just have not been able to get the game past the initial grey loading line, if it finishes I just get a black screen with nothing else happening. As the title said, I got the game to launch to the menu ONCE before changing some graphic settings (textures and stuff, nothing that should've caused it to stop working) and then it hasn't gotten to menu since.
Ran fine without any tweaks
Game isn't the best optimized on Windows either so the frame dips and performance hitches are normal for the game.
For most people, playing this game on Linux is great and works Fine, but if you are specifically on EndeavorOS it is a bit of a mess.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Without the launch option there is zero foliage in the game, with the launch option (turning off DVXK) cyberspace (and fishing) levels are unable to render correctly. The way to fix this is to not use the launch option, leading to me to have to constantly restart the game and add and remove the launch option.
Any additional bugs (weird double Sonics in a cutscene, or not being able to trigger stuff, or not being able to move) are solved by either just saving and loading, or if that doesn't work, not using the launch options, but that gets rid of all foliage (see graphical issues).
Alright so, someone else using EndeavorOS has mentioned before not having any foliage in their game, and this was also true for me at first. To restore any foliage I needed to turn OFF DVKX (that's what the launch option command I used is for), BUT with turnning of DVKX, it makes the cyberspace levels impossible to play due to them not rendering correctly, meaning I need to RESTART the game each time and then remove my launch options to play those segments of the game (including fishing). So while I am writing this at almost the end of the first Island I will be able to complete the game this way, but I would highly reccomend against it unless you like restarting your game over and over. Sometimes this also causes other unexpected bugs, like 2 sonics in a cutscene and then being inable to move afterwards and having to restart the game.
Also, Hedge Mod Manager's flatpak works flawlessly for this game, don't even have to add any launch options to get mods to work.
This game is a direct switch port, all button prompts are in then Nintendo layout. While you can change it with a mix of steam input+in game rebinding, you may as well just deal with it.
Game runs at 60fps fine, works good, only issue is just the strange controls and that part has nothing to due with linux/proton stuff.
