Do yourself a favor; cap FPS and set a low resolution to get slightly more playable performance. Except the city map. It won't go above 15fps.
Unlike the HD version, it runs fine without crashing on any level. However, other issues are still shared. The intro speech plays to a blank screen, the opening scene doesn't play anything on the TV or projector, and the credits scene is completely empty. It's not too big an issue as you can skip past these in the menu.
All the video files do not work. Since my last report, Proton now handles this by showing a tv-calibration still image in place of the video, which is nice. At least it's not blank.
Some scenes simply crash the game, but a good chunk of them work. Also the video at the start is missing.
Video files do not work, however their respective audio does play. Proton-GE may fix this.
Using Index at 120hz. Set resolution scale down to 50% to get rid of stuttering. Still looks crisp.
Runs without crashing, but the trailer (mp4 asset) doesn't play. Logically the paid dlc feature film isn't going to work either. There's a few other neat things to do, but since the main appeal of this game is the VR360 film I think it deserves a bronze rating.
Runs perfectly. My only problem is the abnormally large input lag that vsync adds.
It seems like the game hangs after the developer title card, but really it just takes 5+ minutes to load in each area for the first time. If you look at task manager it is maxing one core and slowly increasing RAM usage. I have this issue with multiple games, most notably Valve's "The Lab" demo.
Runs perfectly. If you are having issues with Index controllers (in any game) not registering, make sure you are on Proton 4.11-1+.
Stutter free, avg 130fps benchmark mode. Played through a few races. Deserves platinum.
Turn on Steam Controller before starting the game.
Perfectly fine in 32-bit mode.
Major distortion unless launched in 32-bit mode, then it's fixed
[Index HMD] Asides from the credits glitching out and only showing up correctly in one eye, this short game runs fine.
The game runs fine but will not recognize Index controllers.
Proton 4.11-1 and Forward fixes Index controller support.
[Index Kit] Runs great. Tool models are broken to where the Index buttons overlay on top of Vive wands, but it doesn't matter.
Proton 4.11-1 Forward fixes Index controller support. Runs perfectly, albeit GPU demanding.
Works in Proton 7 without symlinks. I just manually picked the chrome/windows flash installer from the FlashPatcher github and it worked.
[Full Index] Game soft crashes (maxed CPU core, static RAM usage) soon after starting a mission and taking flight.
It's short, free, and let me finish a map before crashing. 4/5 too much water.
Crashes for seemingly no reason, and sometimes fails to start.
(Index) Choppy during first minute or so. Runs fine after.
[Full Index] Game runs well and is playable. However using Index controllers requires awkward wrist-twisting, the hands are not correctly positioned, and the game tells you it doesn't recognize the Index HMD. (I believe these are problems with the outdated game engine and NOT Proton, but I'd like them documented.)
Must be run on Proton. Either way it's plagued with general bugs and performance issues due to poor development.
Linux native version will glitch into a textureless black void with only UI and HUD elements trailing behind like in WinXP. Unknown trigger.
Having a few moderate sized techs on screen causes significant FPS drop.
Black void issue on linux native.
Does not start at all. Steam says its running but there is no process to kill.
Loading takes upwards of 5 minutes the first time each area is accessed. This is an issue with multiple games.
(Index) Runs a little choppy at times and the controllers drift, but you will get the full experience.
Some geometry goes missing when you get near it, such as with the statue of David.
Stuck on black screen. Waited 15 minutes, but it wasn't showing signs of loading (ex: single core maxed, increasing memory usage).
Game launches but is essentially unplayable. My view had difficulty moving on the horizontal-axis, almost like a wireless mouse on a weak connection.
Works and performs great! (Did a system reinstall since my last report where the game was unplayable.)
Works perfectly now. Great performance but weaker GPUs can get bogged down by particle effects.
[Index HMD] Can't progress past a certain point, as you need to use your microphone but it doesn't work. Might only be coded for the Vive.
