Installs and runs fine. NAV MFD updates slowly, no voice controls. VTOL VR Mod loader works.
LD_PRELOAD="" WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winhttp.dll=n,b" game-performance %command% --doorstop-enabled false
NAV MFD updates very slowly for all units and only updates every few minutes, so there is no up to date information of current friendly and enemy units.
My custom launch params "WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winhttp.dll=n,b"" "--doorstop-enabled false" allow the VTOL VR Mod loader (on steam) to work perfectly with the game. Change to true to enable the game to start with mods from the loader, false to disable and play the vanilla game. You can run the game in openxr with no params just fine. Using envision to play the game with WiVRn with a Quest 2, and it's the best VR experience I have had, even better than Oculus/Meta, Virtual Deskop, or ALVR.
The NAV MFD has issues updating and displaying up to date information. Usually takes a few minutes to update, then freezes again right away before updating again later. Also, voice commands do not work at all since they relay on windows speech.

PRESSURE_VESSEL_FILESYSTEMS_RW=$XDG_RUNTIME_DIR/wivrn/comp_ipc:/var/lib/flatpak/app/io.github.wivrn.wivrn gamemoderun %command%
Played it using my Quest 2 with WiVRn through USB, hence the launch options. Launched the game in OpenXR mode.
Only the WiVRn flatpak version worked for me. There was something missing with the native AUR install, OpenComposite stuff I think.

Runs well. No issues with stability, multiplayer, or mods.
NAV display never updates, voice commands don't work

Apart from the nav display displaying out of date positions,its been working very well. All other displays work correctly
NAV mode refreshes at a teribly slow rate(looks borked at first) TDC works as expected.
Power. Come left. Youre high. Waveoff! Waveoff!

gamemoderun %command%
MFDs like the TGP and NAV slightly flicker at normal viewing distance. Leaning closer in they stop, if you back further away they get worse. It's very minor and not an issue in normal gameplay.
Zero issues with multiplayer. Every works exactly as it does in Windows, including full workshop support for missions and liveries.
Install and setup gamemode to use my launch commands. Gives the game priority and will help with performance and stability.

It just worked as it would on windows
On loading the tutorial the game would freeze

Runs perfectly with no issues
Could be my internet, but when hosting my friend would occasionally get dropped from the game.
I had some weird laggy behviour with steamvr that was fixed by changing from wayland to X

This game plays very well under proton. No performance penalty, the multiplayer now works once again which is great, the game is great
The multiplayer crash under linux was fixed a fews days ago, the whole game now works perfectly fine

Did some tinkering for Multiplayer mode:
- tried different Proton version: experimantal / 8.0-2 / 7.0-6 -> not working
- enabled logging in lauch options: PROTON_LOG=1 %command%
Multiplayer is not working. Crashes always when you try to join a game
Multiplayer is not working. Crashes always when you try to join a game.
Runs perfectly in single player mode; however multiplayer is not working at all
Singleplayer works great
Singleplayer works great! I've not tested MP yet on linux but from what I've heard it's broken

Singleplayer works like a charm, still a good game. Just a shame multiplayer is not working on the latest version.
Voice commands do not work
Trying to join a multiplayer lobby causes the game to crash. There is a thread in the developer's Discord tracking this issue. If you run linux and already own this game, please give the devs your logs.
Multiplayer works on a previous version as reported by other users, but there aren't many (if any) servers active.
Since the 1.5 update, multiplayer crashes after joining host, so basically it's a singleplayer game now on linux. We'll need more reports on the vtol vr discord to get the dev to fix that
__NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia %command%
Multiplayer would cause the game to crash on the current version (1.5). It works perfectly if you revert to the previous version (1.4.3f11).
Runs perfectly other than the AI voice commands. Only issues have been from SteamVR wonkiness
Audio input works (confirmed in multiplayer) but voice commands to AI do not work likely because they rely on windows speech recognition
Game runs well without any extra steps. Only major issue is mic doesn't work
Microphone not working, game doesn't receive sound input
Game doesn't receive sound input, makes multiplayer hard. Otherwise everything seems to work.
Game does lag the more units are on the map. However, this might be a limitation with the game itself, or SteamVR on Linux related.
The game starts and I see the develper name then steam vr crashes.
I have tried a lot of lunch option and tried runing on arco. Proton tricks didn't work as well as GE proton. I also tired swaping over to 470 nivida drivers but that didn't work So far it is the only game that wont boot no mater what I do.
Works great!
Haven't played for very long, but I thought I'd write up the report so I don't forget, as this game seems to have few of them. The only problem with the game I've had is that some modded maps perform a bit poorly, but I imagine that's more about the content than the game.
The game itself is great, love the real controls that you get to flick, and the panels that can e.g. show your spectator camera and stuff. Didn't do any combat though, I'm more here for just the civilian-type flying.
The game runs great despite frames dropping if you were to look in a direction too fast.
Slight frame drops were frequent, which was not occurring last time I have played through Windows.
Works perfectly
Ran perfectly as if it were native as far as I could tell.

Version 1.0 of VTOL VR released after 3 years of development time and the result speaks for itself - I give it perfect marks.
The long loading time at the beginning of the game is gone (freshly installed the game to check out version 1.0 and there was no freezing), voice commands obviously still don't work since that's a Windows thing (wingmen can be commanded with the MFDs in your aircraft instead of your voice, don't worry to much about it).
I played the game with a Valve Index VR headset and knuckles controllers.

Works great
Initial load (after installation) is very slow, subsequent loads are normal
Works well

Initial loading takes long. Game works just fine
No audio on vive headset. Audio over speakers/headphones works fine.
Crashed ones on loading a new level. Could play this level without problems after a reboot.
The first time playing, the game will show a black screen for about 5 minutes. After that the game will load as fast as one can expect from a flight sim.

Game runs absolutely fine, with a performance comparable to the one I experienced with Windows.
It should be noted that you won't be able to give your wingmen voice commands, like you can on WIndows, because that game feature relies on the Windows 10 Speech-To-Text functionality which obviously isn't emulated with Proton. You can give your wingemen the same commands using the UI on your aircraft screens in-game, so you're not missing out on any functionality, it's just the tip-of-the-iceberg comfort you're missing out on.
When I started the game for the first time I was greeted with a black screen for round about 3 minutes. You just have to patiently wait for the main menu. I assume it's pre-caching something in the background, because this loading time doesn't reappear for subsequent launches. It's just the first launch where your patience is tested.
Works perfectly fine, no lag, no audio problems. Loading time is a bit slow on startup but it gets there in the end.

Game did not work anymore with Proton versions older than 4.11. The game got a Unity Version update and the Proton contributors had to update the OpenVR implementation of Proton. With Proton 4.11 controller tracking works once more.
I was struggling with whether this is a Silver or Gold rating, because the only feature that is missing will probably never be available. On Windows the game makes use of the Windows voice recognition technology (a built in Windows-OS-feature) to convert spoken words into commands for the wing-men. In all aircraft the same functionality is also available with buttons/the Multi-Function-Displays, so Linux users aren't missing out on anything feature wise, instead it's just missing comfort.
Putting this single missing feature aside, the game works flawlessly. No crashes, accurate tracking of the HMD and controllers (I use a Vive + Vive Wands), stable high frame-rate - I couldn't ask for more.

Takes forever to load the first time, afterwards loads much quicker and runs decently.

VTOL - Starts, and performance seems like it might be OK - but controllers/hands as well as some text invisible. Some buttons can't be pressed. Unplayable
