Game occasionally crashed when resizing window but was otherwise fine
Game would crash when resizing in windowed mode
Victory screen at the end of game had graphical degradation but this does not effect anything in any meaningful way
Game runs as well as it does on Windows.
Framerate was slightly worse than on windows with the same graphics card when run on high.
Game runs like crap but it's not because of Proton, it runs just as badly on Windows too.
Works Almost Perfect Without Any Tweaks
Opening cut scene did not play.
Game works great overall but there windowing issues and it crashed on me twice
Screen settings would not change as they should in the options menu. I could get fullscreeen 1080p only by playing around with the settings until it happened to work.
The game crashed twice in my 60 hour playthrough.
Crashes on startup with the same error Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders
The Launcher can open but selecting play game results in a DXVA2CreateDirect3DDeviceManager9 failed error followed by a SysInitFailed window and a game crash.
Was unable to start the game with Proton 3, 4, or 5
Proton 5.0.3 can launch the configuration tool. All available versions of Proton receive a SysInitFailed error window followed by a game crash. With Proton 5.0 another error window popped up saying DXVA2CreateDirect3DDeviceManager9 failed followed by the same SysInitFailed error and a game crash.
Game is completely playable from start to finish
Audio does not work out of the box. The best fix seems to be editing the BIOEngine.ini file located at:
/home/user/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/17460/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/BioWare/Mass Effect/Config
Adding the following lines under [ALAudio.ALAudioDevice] fixes the audio issue without having to remove the OpenAL32.dll. Removing the dll seems cause instability.
DeviceName=Generic Software
UseEffectsProcessing=False
Game occasionally crashed. I am unsure if this is an issue with Proton or the game. Save frequently.
Installing the DLC was doable but took some tweaking following this guide in conjuction with the PC Gaming Wiki entry on Mass Effect:

https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Mass_Effect#DLC_and_expansion_packs
It's playable and beatable but there are some minor issues
Audio is missing from cutscenes
Crashed twice during my playthrough.
Game is fully playable from beginning to end
When the game had to play video files it would occasionally soft-lock or crash.
Playing the game required disabling the Steam Overlay and starting the game in windowed mode by modifying the ini files.
Several bugs that are present when playing the game on Windows are also present when playing the game through Proton. The overlay is misaligned at higher resolutions and the video files cause crashes.
Single player and online multiplayer work great out of the box
I was able to install the xbox DLC and other mods without issue
Works almost perfectly out of the box
Changing the game's resolution would cause the game to crash after the setting was applied. Restarting the game started it in the new resolution.
Runs close to perfectly
Half-way through the game and there have been no issues outside of being unable to alt-tab out of it.
