There is an issue with the save slotsthat is pretty annoying and could prevent you from enjoying the game.
Despite the game recognizing that I was using a controller and giving me proper controller instructions for the tutorial, I still needed to assign the tilde "~" key to one of the back buttons in order to view the menu that displays all the shortcuts.
The launch window did not recognize that I was using a controller. I used the touch screen to start the game from the secondary launch window. Once started, it reognized I was using a controller.
There is this odd issue where all of the unused save slots are automatically filled with a broken save. It displays nothing but "Broken Save" in the slot and you get an individual pop-up for each and every one of them when you go to save or load your game. All 50 of them. You have the delete one of these broken saves and then you can use that slot to save. If you delete a broken save slot and leave it empty then it will be replaced by another broken save the next time you visit the save/load screen and you'll get the pop-ups all over again. Very annoying.
Save files were reportedly corrupted but can be loaded once past the error messages.
The game isn't running fine out of the box, so only purchase if you fancy a tinker or can tolerate these kinds of errors.
The audio mainly has issues in the menus from what little I've seen so far.
Apparently this port is just generally borked when it comes to save games. When loading or saving, you will be presented with dozens of 'Save Game X has been corrupted' messages. Simply press 'A' to get past them and, at the end, you'll be able to save/load as needed.
Good idea to backup saves regularly, I suppose, as I've no idea how stable the game is going to be long-term. Your save directory should be something along the lines of: ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/1315200/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/KUF2 Heroes
Launcher worked! Game started up, got to the menu! However entering a cutscene crashes the game.
GOG specific
Crashes on startup with the same error Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders
The Launcher can open but selecting play game results in a DXVA2CreateDirect3DDeviceManager9 failed error followed by a SysInitFailed window and a game crash.
