Don't alt tab out too much, game can occasionally crash when doing this.
You'll need to enter the custom launch script above in order to bypass the borked 2K launcher when launching the game.

Some music tracks that were originally in MIDI won't play sometimes, like the shop theme. Not sure how to fix that.
If you play in windowed, make sure you set the right resolution for your screen, minimize it then re-maximise it back, otherwise your mouse clicks will be innacurate on your UI.
A few years back this game was completely borked on Linux. Not it's possible to run this 20+ years old grandpa of an MMO.
gamemoderun %command% --disable-gpu
You gotta enter that launching argument in order to see and use the launcher properly. Otherwise, everything works just fine. Also, don't expect this game to run too smoothly on high graphics even if you have good specs. This game is badly optimized ever since its release in 2004.

Just make sure you enter to put in these launch commands before launching the game from Steam, in order to be able to manually log in with a separate account. Otherwise, you'll go through the creation of a Steam account for GW2 on the launcher and it'll automatically log you through it. If you are a new player and don't have any account then leave it as it is.

To force the launcher to let you login with an existing account, use the following launch arguments above. Other than that, the game runs fine and launches better here via Steam (imo). Had a bunch of problems with launching it via Lutris.

Occasionally freezes when zoning. Though it does the same on Windows.
Just make sure you've installed DXVK drivers and possibly use flatpak steam instead of native runtime if you don't use a Debian based distro. I couldn't run any non-native game otherwise. Getting the flatpak version instantly fixed that.
Smooth like butter.
Would experience crashes sometimes a year or two ago, but now I get none. Works flawlessly as it should.
The playtest feature doesn't work at first, it needs manual updating.
Download the files here
https://dl.nwjs.io/v0.43.6/nwjs-v0.43.6-linux-x64.tar.gz
- Make sure RPG Maker is shut down.
- In Steam, right click the software in the list and goes in properties. Head into the Installed Files tab and click verify the integrity of software files. This is to make sure we're doing this clean.
- Extract the folder from the link I've posted above, and copy those files inside the extracted folder.
- Head into the software's installation folder (accessible via right clicking the program on steam, -> Installed Files -> Browse...).
- You will see both folders called nwjs-lnx and nwjs-lnx-test. Paste your copied files and replace everything in both folders.
- Relaunch RPG Maker MV, and try playtesting. It should run properly now.
The reason the playtest doesn't work is because the software wasn't updated due to MZ releasing, therefore they weren't able to bring attention to this issue for Linux users.
Proton-7.0rc2-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom/releases
Don't try running it with default Steam Proton versions, it won't even start. Get the latest Glorious Eggroll release and it will work perfectly. (See the GitHub link, 7.0rc2 GE-1 as of December 2021.).
gamemoderun %command%
In more recent Proton versions, holding right click to move the camera around kept the cursor visible, instead of making it disappear as it should. Downgrading to 5.0-10 fixes the issue. (I haven't tried with ProtonGE though).
Enjoy wandering Middle-Earth!
Works flawlessly out of the box.
Only minor problem is alt-tabbing out of this game will make it either freeze or crash. Makes it impossible to get back in, forcing the user to kill the client. Otherwise everything works with no issues. Have fun!
Works and plays well, as it should.
Will freeze when alt-tabbing out of the game's window while being in any screen mode. As soon as the active window changes, the game freezes or stutters severly, or becomes impossible to alt-tab back to.
You might experience some very slight stutter while running around. Turn on v-sync in the game's settings and that should fix it (it did for me at least).
gamemoderun %command%
This game has a bad case of freezing when alt-tabbing out. Very frustrating when you need to look up a build guide and what not. Though this can be fixed with protontricks with one simple line, after installing the game!
Open a terminal, and execute this line (with your screen resolution):
protontricks 475150 vd=1920x1080
Install and play right away. Have fun, champions!
Simply install, start the launcher, log in and play! No issues with connection to the servers and while playing.
