Native version works via method explained in the audio section.
For native version, you need to install the pulseaudio-alsa package (possibly under a different name, but that is the name on Arch Linux) for audio to work.
It works fine with the custom mono below as long as you use proton 5.0. I could not get it to work with 5.13 or GE
Use the proton tricks custom mono below
Installed custom mono available via https://github.com/redmcg/wine-mono/wiki#with-protontricks
You need to do the custom mono while in Proton 5.0 first, but after, you are able to play it in other versions just fine even on online play.
6.10-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
Proton GE
Crackling is fixed if you use Proton GE 6.10-GE-1
I have not installed this on its own with Odyssey. I had a working copy from before Odyssey that appeared to continue to work fine on its own now. I think in a previous report by me, I explained the old and probably no longer working method of installing it from before Odyssey. I encountered audio crackling until I started using Proton GE.
I tested everything I can and it all works well without tweaks. I feel there is a small performance tax compared to running it on Windows, but that could be various other non-attributable factors. Do not use the WINE D3D11 tweak as one review has specified as it would cause your game to go into full laggy disco-mode (it will flash random palettes onto textures.) Just run it without any tweaks, and it works just fine.
In the main menu, sometimes it doesn't register my left mouse button, but I cannot confirm whether or not that is due to Proton running the game. Any glitches I've encountered were also glitches that would occur if you ran the game natively on Windows.
Works perfectly after you enable Wine D3d11
Works perfectly besides needing a new weird workaround to get multiplayer working as of the crossplay update
For multiplayer to work as of Proton 5.0-9, you'll need to run the game under Proton 4.11 once, and then again on Proton 5.0, then it'll work properly. Check its issue on Proton's github (https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/438) for more news on this bug.
After using the Wine D3d11 tweak, it worked perfectly! It would crash without it.
There are lag spikes, but that is it. I haven't found any run options that really make it run better, but the lag spikes are also generally only after just starting the game or loading a new area.
Works great with vulkan rendering API
For best performance, change the rendering API to vulkan in the in game settings
Perfect Native Version
Runs perfectly. Thought I had a bug at first because the game wasn't responding to window size changes, but then I realized it was the launcher window and not the actual game 💀
Everything works, even multiplayer, perfectly! The only bugs I encountered are bugs that are experienced while running on Windows normally.
