Missing PBR textures on Jungle Rock Island, Utah, and Small Island maps can be fixed by downloading pre cached textures from github https://github.com/SnoutBug/BeamNG_terrainMaterialCache
On the newest proton version, game didnt start with my g920 plugged in. after pluging my wheel in it detects it but force feedback doesnt work. but on proton 6.3-8 its starts and force feedback works, but if the game applys maximun force on only one direction the force change to the other way.
on Archlinux the g920 doesn't show up straight up but running
# usb_modeswitch --default-vendor 046d --default-product c261 --message-endpoint 1 --response-endpoint 1 --target-class 3 --message-content 0f00010142
should start the device with the correct kernel driver
mangohud PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 WINEDLLOVERRIDES=libglesv2=d %command%
Using Potato setting for best performace
Player where missing fixed by switching audio profile from Surround 5.1 to Stereo Duplex
Launcher is white without WINEDLLOVERRIDES=libglesv2=d %command%
launch arguments
Significant Performance Problems when in fights larger then 20~ enemies using Proton 7 or newer. Fixed by using Proton 6.3-8
or Proton-6.21-GE-2
PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1
Launch arguments improves the performance little bit.
Even if dns works planetside still needs a valid dns server in /etc/resolv.conf
Aside from Planetside being Planetside Game is more stable then on windows, Planetside rarely crashes if ever.
Overall, everything works fine right now. However, I cannot predict what the future holds since the game is still in early access.
Using Steam from the Arch Linux repos, I encountered an Easy Anti-Cheat error: Failed to initialize dependencies.
However, when using Steam through Flatpak, everything works flawlessly.
During the last parts, especially during the evacuation phase, the game starts to slow down significantly. This issue also occurs on Windows, so it is not the fault of the Wine compatibility layer.
Didn't start with proton 7. Native build didn't start probably because Im running wayland, maybe with some env tinkering I could get it running.
Tried using wine-discord-ipc-bridge
to get discord rpc to work but to no avail.
PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 /opt/wine-discord-ipc-bridge/winediscordipcbridge-steam.sh %command%
Warning Game start flashing when switching to a different monitor!
When using PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 I got a good performance boost 80 -> 150 fps
A few crashes but game is still in early access. Saw same crashes in the Steam Discussions page so not a Linux issue.
For Discord RPC support install the wine-discord-ipc-bridge-git
and add /opt/wine-discord-ipc-bridge/winediscordipcbridge-steam.sh
to the advanced launch options
