If you like Half Life franchise, and You want to experience first Half Life game again, this is the best option.

Native version is full of artifacts, bugged shadows and especially bugged Xen.
Running on Proton the controlls are completely wrong, You have to remap it manualy.
In order to run the game Natively without any issues, select the "Steam Linux Native Runtime" in compatibility tab, It fixed the artifacts for me and game works better on a Native container version.
Native version is free of bugs and artifacts after 2 years, but it still lacks Vulkan support and runs only with OpenGL.
Switch to proton and you'll have no issue. Switch to Beta branch in order to launch a game in DXVK mode for better performance.

Game launches in Borderless even I left Fullscreen after closing it.
CS 2 needs a lot of bug fixing, even I am able to run game in 60 FPS sometimes it doesn't feel like it's working like that.

If you are playing at different resolution then exclude the Vulkan layer from launch options, otherwise will not be able to change resolution apart from 1080p.
Switch to proton version, native is not well optimised.
The Native works, but some unknown reason game had FPS problems
Just switch to Proton GE and Launch the game in DX11 if you want your FPS at max without sacrificing a lot of graphics quality.

Switch game on Vulkan and remove
For extra performance just enable Vulkan and remove motion blur.
Switch to Wayland session, native version does not launch under X11.

Speaking of Cotroller support I had no problems here, On Windows I had common bug that could not be fixed, 10/10
Gamemode and Vulkan gave me the max framerate, Especially Vulcan.
Also one more thing, If you have HDD don't install the game because the map is not properly loaded, you'll end up by falling through map, SSD Recommended

If You change an option from Widowed Fullscreen to Fullscreen, You have to restart the game in order to apply.
Just Install and play, works perfectly ootb.
