Crashes with Proton
Single Player: - This game has many bugs. Tactical shield can be shot through. Sometimes the game does not carry on to the next round once the round ends. Whenever you load a level someone who has the bomb from the T-squad is always dead. I can keep going on, this honestly feels so weird. FPS remains locked at 100 FPS (Not an issue) when vsync is off.
Native: - The main menu options appear strange. Proton fixes this issue. Their are screen tearing at times as well on Native.
Proton: - Game runs great on Proton and FSR works fine as well. The game crashes after a while with the Assertion Failed error: -
Wine C++ Runtime Library Assertion Failed! Program: Z:\home\user.local\share\Steam\steamappscommon\Half-Life\hl.exe File:c;\buildslave\goldsrc_win32\build\GoldSrc\vgui2\controls\Menu.cpp Line:1478 Expression: "ItemNum >= 0" Press Ok to exit the program, or Cancel to start the Wine debugger.
I think this game should be rated Silver or Gold (Though you can finish the game on Native)
Cannot play with Proton. Works with Native but has issues that I have mentioned in the previous page
It can be played Natively but has some issues which I have mentioned

Switched to X11
My screen was blinking while gaming, searching for the problem I found out that the NVIDIA card doesn't sync frames correctly on wayland and switching to X11 is a temporary workaround until NVIDIA update its driver with "explicit sync" (which is already patched on driver 555 BETA)

Reminds me of how it use to be years ago.

Works Great

native version runs fine
game won't start on the main display
only the game window is opening on the wrong screen. You need to change to windowed mode and manually drag the game to the main screen.
Native
Runs perfectly OOTB.
Game runs with zero issues OOTB.
Works perfectly on linux.
Had quite the fun playing it. Better than windows experience :D
Works out of the box like a charm.
Some text is thin and it's difficult to make out what it says
Default proton got hung on launch

VAC
So I played with the settings to get the best epxerience, since it lagged sometimes, FPS dropped and other stuff:
cool your laptop, lift him. That stopped most of my FPS drops.
use indicator-cpufreq and set it on performance
NVIDIA: install latest driver, set it to performance mode, Powermizer performance aswell. Maybe you have to change it every time you restart. Also use apllication Settings for antialiasing
Start settings: gamemoderun %command% -novid -console -nojoy +fps_max 120, get Feral Gamemode for the first command. It improves a lot of games and also CSGO.
ingame settings: fullscreen, all settings High, shader details: very high, Boost playre contrast + multicore rendering: enabled, multisampling: 2x MSAA, FXAA: disabled, texture filtering: trinliear wait for vertical sync; disabled Motion BLur Disabled Triple Monitor: Disabled Use uber shaders: enabled
Proton version offers more resolution options than native or Steam Linux Runtime
Text would be distored in some areas of the options. Nothing big.
If you have an ultrawide monitor, game is zoomed in too much, but I assume this was the case on Windows as well. Choose a resolution in the 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio instead.
In a previous report, I had an issue with running the native version which was later resolved after restarting Steam. With that in mind, if you play at 1080p, the native port is fine. If you go above or use an ultrawide, more resolution options show up in Proton. Like in Windows, it helps to add the commands fps_max "999" and fps_override "1" to an autoexec.cfg to get better performance with or without vsync.

Wouldn't load native version or via Steam Linux Runtime. Had to use Proton.

Runs Fine with Proton 4.11
slight text corruption
Occasional game crashes due to GoldSrc engine, as I also experienced them on Windows.

CRashes during loading ruin the game.
The top of the screen is shown.
Crashed once when loading a gmae
loading times out.

Only for the Deleted Scenes:
There is a bug in the Linux (& macOS) version in the map "Building Recon", which makes it impossible to enter an air duct https://steamcommunity.com/app/100/discussions/0/846963710975670543/?ctp=3. Using the Windows version with Proton "fixes" this bug.
Game works great.
Just weird artifacts on some options text.
