Stuttering
Manual PunkBuster install https://www.evenbalance.com/pbsetup.php
Applied setcap mentioned previously to fix the no-ping issue.
Tabbing out and back in didn't always immediately work
PunkBuster
Adding the origin installer as an non-steam game allowed me to install it and login, then install BF4 through that. Then launching BF4 through origin works fine after I manually installed PunkBuster.
Sometimes zooming while moving the camera would throw it off to the sides of the map.
Check out OpenLoco!
Applied T'ai Fu's fix, works without a hitch. Needed to reapply it after proton update.
Couldn't find a way to make it use my primary monitor instead of my secondary. Need to disable the monitor in order to play.
No 3d textures or models were displaying, with the entire background being black save for shadows(?). UI elements and unit elements were rendering, making the game playable in a sense.
Crashing after playing for a bit.
Proton version 6.3-5
Needed to set DXVK_FRAME_RATE=144 %command% --disable-gpu
as steam launch options for the launcher to display correctly.
Main menu background was missing
When launching an error is thrown: "A problem occurred while opening the video. Please install windows media 9 codec or later." Probably causes the main menu issue.
Multiplayer suffers from frequent desync errors, however that is present both on Windows and via Proton
Mods work well
Appears to work exactly the same as on Windows.
Same as on windows, to get 1080p+ resolution and disable intro, run with launch options: -CustomResolution:enabled -r1920x1080x32 -Intro:off
Campaign map stutters slightly while moving about.
Native version is running a few versions behind the windows/proton version, and cannot connect to each other in multiplayer. I had to use the proton version to play a multiplayer campaign with someone running on Windows.
Adding /borderless
to the steam launch parameters allows you to run the game in borderless mode.
