Deffault Settings. No problems
Completed the main campaign with no compatiblity issues using the default Proton 7.0.5. No Tinkering required.
d3dcompiler_46 is necessary
This is the my first report of this game, just started and played for a bit.
For the game to work require both, being started with the flag PROTON_USE_WINED3D, and installed the package d3dcompiler_46 with protontricks. Without d3dcompiler_46 the game doesn't start, and without PROTON_USE_WINED3D is a black screen.
Unlike what previous reports say, I can play with the sepia tint shader, instead of just black and white. And no warn message about the shaders is raised at startup.
This is a report for the 2022 nextfest demo. I worked flawlessly with vanilla proton 7.0-1.
I just was able to reach the initial "made in unity" title, after that the game closed. Was tested with proton 5.0
6.12-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
I used proton-ge-custom, version 6.12-GE-1
The only problem the game has is trying to close it. It doesn't work. You have to force close it.
6.12-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
I used 6.12-GE-1 GloriousEggroll. By the moment of this report, 6.13-GE-1 was released, but it doesn't do it. It starts, but never goes to the opening credits. Also tried with 6.14-GE-1, and appear to have the same problem.
This is the third report I wrote about this game.
The first was when I tried to make it run, but couldn't.
The second was after successfully doing it with Glorious Eggroll.
This third one is to report after completing the whole game in linux though proton.
Unlike what other reports say, I was able to see Full Motion Videos. The experience is basically flawless in terms of compatibility.
There were only problems at starting and closing the game:
At start, there is a chance the game start lagging, with stutters in the intro cinematic, but the problem is solved after the main menu.
At closing the game, it never manages to do it, you have to force close it.
But other than that, I never had a problem in game.
Proton-6.16-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
Used Glorious Eggroll: Proton-6.16-GE-1. It didn't started with regular proton.
I played the chapter 2 pacifist run, from beginning to end, about 3 hours of gameplay, with no problems.
Proton-6.18-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Just used GE because I couldn't make standard Proton work, but that is more a problem with my system, it affects every game for me , so I doubt it really has any problem with regular proton.
A single crash during the whole game play. Reason unknown. Suspect it was my fault, but I have to mention it.
It works flawlessly in Proton 5.0-10. Couldn't make it work in 5.13-6 and 6.3-5.
Can play the start of the first level without problems
This is my first report of the game. Just opened the game and played for about 10 minutes.
When I finish the game going to make a more complete report.
Until now, the only problem I had is the silhouette of some models being pixelated, but could be a problem that has nothing to do with proton.
Is completely playable.
Proton-6.16-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
If the controller disconnected, I couldn't manage to make it work again, other than reloading the game.
I'm using an Xbox one controller, connected though a xbox one usb wireless adapter with xow drivers.
One time the battery of the controller went off, I quickly replace it, but couldn't manage to make it work again, I had to close the game using mouse and keyboard and open the game again to continue playing.
Other time I left the game idle for too long, and when I returned the contoller had been disconnected, and had to do the same.
This must be my old GPU, but the game struggled to maintain 60 fps in some instances.
Needs to use the flag "-force -dx11" to prevent directX12 bugs. Where the outline of some characters appear pixelated, or weirdly bright.
This is the second report I do for this game, after completing it 100%.
With vanilla proton, the intro cut-scenes are not displaying, but the developer put an immersive error screen to avoid problems, so I didn't notice until reading reports here. To prevent this I had to use glorious eggroll. Some report say the prefix had to be created with GE, so I deleted the previous prefix and let it create it (don't worry about save file, there are cloud saves). Never gave me a problem again.
The flags "-force -dx11" are necessary to prevent some visual bugs.
Other than that, the experience was pretty pleasant, from beginning to end. And I would recommend it.
Tried using vanilla Proton 7.0-1 and Proton-7.2-GE-2. Neither of them worked, only proton experimental booted the game successfully.
Proton-6.21-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Proton-6.21-GE-2
Originally I played with vanilla proton 6.3-8, it didn't have any game play issue, but didn't displayed the intro FMV, so I changed it to Proton-6.21-GE-2.
Didn't have any significant bugs or stability problems.
The main game can be played with a controller (my case: xbox one controller + xow driver), but the menus must be navigated with a mouse. I suspect this a windows thing too.
Deffault Settings. No problems
Completed the main campaign with no compatiblity issues.
First two hours report. It is working great. Will make other report after completing the game.
Often in dialogs, there are icons in the text. Here some of these are a little misaligned.
Tried with vanilla Proton 6.3-8 and Proton 7.0-1. In both cases there was a bug where the map didn't load, and the characters move in an black void.
Also tried with GE-Proton7-2, but there was a problem that the game instantly crash.
At the end only Proton Experimental played the game correctly.
Whole game report, from the begining to the end credits, with all the sidequest completed. Completely playable, no mayor problems.
I don't know if this also happens in the windows version, but there are times where elements within the texts are misaligned.
In the in-game books and newspapers there are sometime images, and the text is usually wrapped wrongly around them. Making it hard to read those parts.
In dialogs, especially near the beginning of the game, there are icons in the text. Sometimes those icons are misaligned.
This is my second report of the game, after completing the whole game.
When I tried to launch the game with regular proton 7.0-1, the maps didn't render, and the characters move in a black void. Also tried with GE-Proton7-2, but there was a problem that the game instantly crash. So I used proton experimental.
During the whole playthrough, the game never chashed, in general there are no stability issues.
Other reports mention the intro FMV, that didn't play out correctly, or only half the speed. I didn't have that problem, the video for the intro and the ending of the game played correctly.
Just like in the previous game, icons within texts sometimes are misaligned. I don't know if this problem is in windows as well.
The experience has been excellent so far.
Tried the game with vanilla Proton 7.0-1, and the effects are the same as with Trails in the Sky FC, the characters render correctly, but not the map, so they move in a black void. That's why I played with proton experimental. Unlike what other report says, I could play the FMV correctly without any problem.
Was capable to play the whole experience, the complete 9 chapters, getting all the BP. Never had any mayor problem.
I had this problem with the first game, where some icons in text boxes are misaligned. Seems to be a issue in windows too, though.
There is a minor problem. If I start the game without a controller, the controller would never be detected. If the game started with the controller connected, but during gameplay disconnected, like when runs out of battery, there is no issue reconnecting afterwards. I tried to view if the system didn't detect the controller, but no, the issue is with the game app. Probably a issue on Windows too. I used an Xbox One controller, a USB dongle and xow drivers.
I tried with vanilla Proton 7.0-1, but the maps didn't load, and the characters walked in a black void. Tried using Proton GE, but then the game just crashed. With proton experimental worked well. Even rendering the FMV without any problem.
Early report, I just played for about 2 hours (the prologue). And didn't have any problem with proton experimental.
Unlike with Sky Fc and Sky Sc I didn't have any major problem with vanilla proton. Maps rendered correctly. And the FMV worked fine.
But there was an issue with the controller. The game didn't register the turbo button, normally map to R2. I solved it by switching to proton experimental. This could not be a major issue, you can also use turbo with the keyboard, and will not affect keyboard + mouse users. I was using an Xbox One controller + Xbox controller dongle+ xow drivers, and steam input.
This report is for the 2022 February Next Fest Demo. I was able to play the whole demo without any problem.
The specific version I used was Proton-7.0rc6-GE-1. I tried using the vanilla 7.0-1 version, but there was a bug that didn't allow me to go into title the screen. Some user reported this bug for windows systems, so it may have nothing to do with proton, and since then the bug was patched, so i could work with vanilla proton now, but I played using Proton GE, so I am reporting that.
Was able to play from beggining to end. 100% completionist run. Just using vanilla proton.
Didn't had any kind of problem playing.
This is a report for the first hour of gameplay.
No problems with vanilla proton 7.0-1
No bugs or any problem with proton 7.0-1
This is my second report of this game. After having completed every level in the game, and obtaining all the exploration points.
Can confirm that I never had any technical problem.
