Runs just as well as it did on Windows
-force-vulkan
-force-vulkan
You only need to set the force vulkan launch arg, the sdl_videodriver arg isn't needed. Native without forcing vulkan has a few commonly occuring UI graphical glitches.
Works absolutely perfectly using Proton Experimental.
Native version has UI glitches (disordered menus, white boxes, etc) but is otherwise fully playable. Proton fixes all of these glitches.
-force-vulkan
Without the force vulkan option, various annoying UI glitches (blank white windows, navigation issues).
SDL_VIDEODRIVER='' gamemoderun %command% -force-vulkan
You need to add "SDL_VIDEODRIVER='' gamemoderun %command% -force-vulkan" in launch options. Only -force-vulkan as suggested doesnt let the game launch. Adding SDL_VIDEODRIVER='' i got from baldurs gate 3 to make that run with vulkan. Something todo with using outdates sdl libs.
menus dissapear, swap positions or become a solid white rectangle until mouse move
double presses
sometimes it slows down after a couple of hours
-force-vulkan
I had some major visual artifacts due to some z-indexing issues, causing items to disappear. Forcing Vulkan fixed it and it now runs great
-force-vulkan
there were some weird artifacting and jumping around while scrolling up and down through menus. these were solved after adding -force-vulkan
as a launch option
Works perfectly
A significant amount of texture swapping issues with all of the UI has made this game pretty unplayable on debian 12 bookworm.
Commonly swapping textures on input. For instance, pausing the game at any point and moving the selection cursor down through the options will cause some text to be replaced by random sprites or unreadable characters.
Game was unfortunately unplayable on my rig, may be time to upgrade the gamer chair.
Common artifacts, especially when going through water or navigating through any menus
Keyboard inputs were buggy, especially in menus
It runs smoothly, but has heavy artifacts making things disappear, keyboard navigation and mouse navigation both buggy.
works out of the box
Runs well on the Steam Deck. The controls are fine, particularly with the new UI (currently available in the Spring Molting Beta)
One of the best traditional roguelikes. Works perfect out of the box
Game begins to boot but then sticks at a black screen. Never starts
Plays perfectly on Steam Deck. No need to fine tune anything!
TDP Limit to 8 Watts
Game runs flawlessly
Has some nice added funtionality for the Steam Deck and plays great outside of glaring UI issues at times.
There are a number of times where text is overlapped or falls off the screen with no way to view either pieces of text properly.
Unlike in the PC release, you are not given a help menu that lets you understand the controls among other things, forcing you to either experiment or awkwardly study them via the key mappings menu. Rarely there are menus that give you keyboard inputs to continue, despite this, Steam Deck inputs still work. Some elements, especially scrollable text boxes, are not intuitive to the Steam Deck and awkwardly require you to use touchscreen to navigate them.
The help menu accessible on PC is seemingly inaccessible here. Whilst some aspects would need to be reworded, it's exclusion is a huge detriment to this game as it can be very hard to understand how to play the game first time without it. Some menus still asking for keyboard input instead of controller icons and some text not properly fitting the screen or being overlapped by other pieces of text whilst both being rare cases they still indicate that this game isn't 'Verified', even if it edges on being so.
Works perfectly
There is a native client which works wonderfully too; I suggest using that instead.
Runs fine in my expirience. No real issues Ive seen besides dieing alot haha
Worth it
Caves of Qud runs well
A few crashes here and there
Crashes every so often, still very fun and playible
The game runs exactly the same as it does in Windows. There is a native client however so I guess there is no need to use this.
Seems completely fine
