Windowed mode is broken and resolution options are limited.
Workaround for windowed mode is to use WINE's virtual desktop. Enable it with protontricks:
protontricks 3310 winecfg
Then going to the Graphics tab, checking the "Emulate a virtual desktop" option, and setting it to your desired resolution, ideally matching the game's resolution.
Custom resolutions can be done by editing config.cfg
found in the "Profiles" directory in the game install directory.
Windowed mode is broken out of the box
FPS was limited to 60 in normal fullscreen mode, but ran at 144 in wine virtual desktop
chuzzle is peak
changing resolutions glitched out, but it was fixed after restarting the game
it runs fine, screen might glitch when changing resolution but restarting fixes it
Windowed mode doesn't work; resolution switches rapidly with rapid black screens, then kicked back to fullscreen
Edited Profiles/config.cfg to change the resolution to 1920x1080
Resolution limited to 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768 or 1600x1200 by default.
Works perfectly
tested on Proton Experimental
Changing the resolution causes graphical glitches. Restarting the game fixes these issues.
This game failed to start and came up with a error message with Proton 7.0-2.
Here is the error message - the title is Chuzzle Deluxe - Unexpected Error
\steamapps\common\Chuzzle Deluxe\BASS.dll<\MODULE> 0001:0000E7AC<\STACKWALK> 0001:00017AF2<\STACKWALK> 0001:000214C0<\STACKWALK> Chuzzle Deluxe<\PRODUCT> 1.0<\VERSION> 00:00:00<\RUNTIME> true<\FULLSCREEN> false<\SAFEMODE> 800 x 600 : 16<\RESOLUTION> Windows NT 6.2 - Build 9200<\OS> 5.3.1.904<\DDRAW>
After switching to Proton 5.13-6 the game is fully playable
Proton 5.13-6 is required in order to launch the game.
Game immediately crashed with proton experimental, didn't even get into the game, but as soon as I switched to version 5.13-6 everything has ran perfect.
Runs fine in proton 5.13-6, tried Proton 6.20-GE-1 and Proton 6.3-7 but the did not work.
I get a error when I start the game and it does not load
it is a long error message and I can't copy and paste it.
Windowed mode does not work. It will enter a sort of semi-window and show the taskbar on the bottom screen, but the cursor is locked into the game window. It can technically go onto the taskbar but all the buttons are disabled.
Runs out of the box
Works out of the box
Custom cursors flicker, but otherwise the game plays just as well as on Windows.
Using custom cursors caused the cursor to constantly flicker when moved around. Otherwise it still works fine.
Enable custom cursors if you have multiple monitors
This bit has been copied from my Zuma deluxe report as the same thing happened here: The game launched on my second monitor but the cursor was locked to my main monitor, had to disable the second monitor, launch the game, enable custom cursors and then re-enable the second monitor which fixed the issue.
Custom cursors would flicker while moving but that might've been the case on windows as well.
- Fullscreen minimizes itself after it lost focus once.
- Hardware acceleration can lead to a black window if dimensions are too big
- You can manually reset those:
sed "s/DX::Fullscreen=true/DX::Fullscreen=false/g" -i Profiles/config.cfg;sed "s/DX::SafeMode=false/DX::SafeMode=true/g" -i Profiles/config.cfg
When the game is first run. There is a black box issue. Alt-tab works and switching the resolution to a higher one works permanently.
played first four levels; custom cursor option is glitchy; window has drawing issues, you have to often minimize and maximize it until it really shows something, after that it works flawless
Runs in software mode only due to NVIDIA ION GPU being incompatible with Vulkan enabled NVIDIA drivers. May work with hardware acceleration on other systems with supported video cards. Often starts with a non refreshing loading screen requiring closing Steam and trying again. Custom cursor only works in full screen mode and is very slow. Using Alt+Tab causes the game to freeze. Otherwise the game is perfectly playable using all modes with 100% performance in full screen and window mode on a 2010 Intel Atom CPU. Given the above, there are no graphical or audio issues.
Might be an issue when entering your name for the first time you only have two black boxes on your screen, alt tabbing seems to solve it. When worked around the game is completely stable
