The game is not playable for me in it's current state, perhaps with stronger hardware one could mitigate some of the issues.

Audio stutters observed due to performance slowdown
Mouse lags on default recommended settings, had to lower the resolution and/or game quality settings to remove input lag.
The game drops in framerates quite substantially compared to when I run the game on my windows 10 partition.
I have tested this game on windows 10 and it runs flawlessly with a few framerate drops during certain cutscenes only, but general gameplay is very playable and enjoyable.
Audio lag and cutouts.
Flickering, mainly during startup logo.
Quite a bit of input lag in menus and during gameplay.
The game has significant framerate issues compared to when being run on windows.
I have tested the game on the windows partition on the exact same setup and the game is fully playable with minor slowdowns during some busy areas.
Steam version does not work, but since the game has been transfered to x-legend, it now runs great if you download their client.
Accepting the terms required me to click the small tick square, hold space and then click login, after that it worked great for me.

Runs fine in proton 5.13-6, tried Proton 6.20-GE-1 and Proton 6.3-7 but the did not work.
Unless the slow fps issues are adressed a typical gamer like me will have problems with game immersion due to severe drops in fps.
The game runs with significantly slower fps on my system than on Windows 10.
Worked perfectly on my system. No slowdowns or other issues encountered.
After adjusting the graphics settings to suit my hardware the game runs smooth, no issues encountered so far.
The game just works! Amazing to be able to play Silent Hill 2 in a new and improved version even on linux at the day of release for pre-purchasers!
Game works fine after changing the windows version with protontricks (I used the flatpak version)
Change windows version from Windows 10 to Windows XP
This game requires changing the windows version to xp or you will not get past the character selection screen.
As long as the audio issue is fixed, the game seems to run flawlessly during my preliminary tests.
If you put PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 %command% in the launch options of steam it fixes the audio crackling.
Game will sometimes freeze completely while playing multiplayer and the game screen will also hang occasionally when exiting the game after playing multiplayer, but this seems to happen on windows too.
The game is very much depending on multiplayer functionality as such a new player will only enjoy single player against bots for a while.

I have tried multiple proton versions, even experimental and newest GE-Proton7-38 but the game fails to connect to multiplayer. It used to work flawlessly with GE-Proton7-13 until recently.
Game runs very well aside from minor loading stutters which I am sure is also present on windows and will be resolved in a patch.

Minor stutters here and there, but it seems to be related to when it loads from the SSD.
If you do not add the launch options it will complain about playstation SDK missing, but will still run. Adding the SteamDeck=1 %command% prevents this message but so far has had no impact on my gameplay functionality. Mouselook and everything works fine. Great to finally have this on the PC as well!

After the 500 MB patch the game is unstable and crashes randomly, it also gives this error at launch: libscepad runtime is missing from your computer, try reinstalling the program.
Until this is fixed the game is unplayable on linux. I have seen forums with steamdeck users complaining about the same thing.
